Chapter 35 Is it the leg or the head that's lame?

When Li Qiuju led Old Lady Zhou into the courtyard, she saw Zhou Sui chasing after the guests with a fierce expression, holding a stool.

Two people stood by looking helpless. Zhou Dayong tried to stop his daughter, but Uncle Wang kept blocking him. For a moment, he didn't know what to do.

But he knew one thing in his heart: he couldn't hurt his daughter.

"Sui Sui, what are you doing?" Li Qiuju rushed forward and blocked Zhou Sui's way.

Zhou Sui, panting from running, finally breathed a sigh of relief. She hadn't really intended to beat Uncle Wang up; she was just trying to scare him.

If you get involved with someone like that, you'll be in trouble you can't shake off.

But what he said and did made people furious. Zhou Sui felt it wasn't enough after scolding him; she had to scare him to vent her anger.

"Dayong, what's going on?" Old Mrs. Zhou looked at her son.

“Mom…” Zhou Dayong didn’t know what to say.

“Grandma, let me tell you.” Zhou Sui also had a good memory, and she recounted the entire conversation.

"I'm just so angry."

"Dad, look at the kind of people these are. Are the ideas they're giving you really good ideas?"

His daughter's question made Zhou Dayong blush with embarrassment.

“You can say whatever you want about me today, but he absolutely cannot eat at our house.”

"Because such a person doesn't deserve it!"

Zhou Sui raised her voice, making no attempt to hide her disgust.

Uncle Wang was used to being arrogant in his own home, and he had never been treated like this before. At first, he was frightened by Zhou Sui's ruthlessness and panicked.

Now that the Zhou family elders have all arrived, he refuses to believe that he can let this girl run wild.

"I'm here as a guest of your Zhou family. Is this how the Zhou family treats its guests?"

"Old Zhou, you have to give me an explanation."

Zhou Dayong loosened his grip and tightened it again, then loosened it again. "Old Wang, it's true you're here as a guest, but what you said went too far."

Zhou Sui just said that, so even if he's stupid, he knows that Lao Wang isn't really looking out for him.

Ever since he suggested that he use force to suppress his family, I've had a vague feeling that something's wrong, but this pig-brain just can't figure it out.

Uncle Wang looked at him in shock, "Old Zhou, I wouldn't have said those things if it weren't for your own good."

"Don't forget, you're lame, the boss didn't want you. If I hadn't spoken to the boss on his behalf, would you have gotten a job at the brick factory?"

"Don't be ungrateful and unable to distinguish between good and bad."

Uncle Wang pursed his lips. He often talked about this, and the reason he wanted Zhou Dayong to remember this kindness was because he wanted him to.

It was precisely because of this incident that Zhou Dayong became more tolerant of him.

But there are limits to tolerance. Zhou Dayong looked him straight in the eye and said, “Even if you don’t say anything, the boss will still make me work. Don’t think I don’t know. At that time, the brick factory was short of workers. Anyone with strength could go in and work.”

He just wanted to be kind to others, which is why he pretended not to know about it.

“Every time I bring food from home, you eat the most, and I’ve never complained about it.”

“All that food was made by my wife. You were eating it while you were criticizing her. How could you be so shameless? I feel embarrassed.”

Zhou Dayong turned to look at Li Qiuju, but she avoided his gaze.

"Zhou Dayong, you're such a pig-headed idiot!" Uncle Wang shouted angrily. "Isn't this what women should do? What did I say wrong?"

If we don't see eye to eye, even half a sentence is too much!

Zhou Sui didn't want to listen to his nonsense.

"Get out of here!"

"Otherwise, I won't hold back!"

Zhou Sui stared coldly at him, and the stool beside her was lifted up again.

Uncle Wang was a little scared and wanted to hide next to Zhou Dayong.

This time, Zhou Dayong didn't defend him. "Listen to my daughter, you're not welcome in our family."

Uncle Wang, who had been chased away, spat and said fiercely.

"I don't care about it."

He turned and walked away, but turned back when he was almost at the door, saying, "Give me back what I brought."

Since he couldn't get his hands on the meat on the table, he couldn't let the Zhou family benefit from the things he brought.

Upon hearing this, Li Qiuju turned around, quickly picked up his bag, and threw it into his arms with a sullen face.

As soon as he stepped out, Zhou Sui spat out a curse at his retreating figure.

"You reap what you sow; be careful, or one day you'll be the one getting beaten up too."

Uncle Wang scoffed, completely dismissing it.

They started off chatting and laughing about having dinner, but in the blink of an eye, it turned into this situation.

Uncle Gao and Uncle Chen, who were left behind, looked at each other, unsure of what to do—whether to stay or leave.

In the end, the Zhou family still invited them to stay for the meal. The problem was with the man surnamed Wang. These two uncles had genuinely come to visit Zhou Dayong and didn't want them to make a wasted trip.

Anyway, Zhou Dayong won't be going back to the brick factory anymore, and there won't be any more opportunities for them to cross paths. This meal is enough to settle things evenly.

Just then, Zhou Xu came home from school. He had no idea what had happened, and his mouth watered when he saw the food on the table.

Knowing that Zhou Dayong's coworkers were visiting, he acted like a little adult and helped to greet them. He was outgoing and talkative, and the atmosphere at the table gradually became lively.

Zhou Sui noticed with her sharp eyes that when Zhou Dayong tried to serve food to Li Qiuju, Li Qiuju dodged it. Throughout the meal, Li Qiuju didn't say a single word to Zhou Dayong.

After seeing her two coworkers off, Old Lady Zhou called Zhou Dayong over.

The old lady, who had been all smiles, suddenly turned sullen. "You're so old, yet you've grown old but not wise. You actually listen to that kind of rubbish."

Grandma Zhou was also furious. "You really make me wonder if you have a limp or a brain."

Hearing this, Zhou Sui suppressed a laugh and turned her head away. As expected of an old lady, even her insults are so insightful.

Zhou Dayong knew he had no reason to explain, so he just hung his head and took the scolding.

After Grandma Zhou left, Zhou Dayong hurriedly went into the room, and Zhou Xu took the opportunity to ask his sister what had happened.

Zhou Xu clenched his fists after hearing this. "Why didn't I come back sooner? If I had run into that bastard, I would have beaten him up."

Actually, both Wang and Zhou Dayong were at fault in this matter. Just like what Grandma Zhou said, they are so old and still don't understand right and wrong.

Zhou Sui calmed down Zhou Sui's anger and gave him a bowl of braised pork, asking him to deliver it to the Zhao family as a way of thanking Song Qi'an for driving them to the hospital a few days ago.

The two people inside the room were talking about something, and then Li Qiuju's voice rang out from inside.

"After all these years with you, is this how you think of me?"

Li Qiuju never shouted, and this was the only time Zhou Sui heard her shout, which showed how angry and upset she was.

A little while later, Zhou Dayong came out with his head hanging low. Zhou Sui pretended not to see him and looked up, pretending to count the pomelos on the tree.

Zhou Dayong saw his daughter sitting under the tree, and dragged his heavy steps over to sit down next to her.
