Chapter 60 Warm Couch (2/2)

"With your small body, if you sleep on a hard bed for two more days, your waist will be broken." He said without raising his head, his tone brooking no room for rebuttal, "How can you help me take care of the wounded?"

Zheng Wanqing knew she couldn't persuade him, so she nodded. She looked at his busy back, feeling warm and bitter in her heart.

"By the way, how is my brother?"

Xie Yun did not stop his work and continued to make the bed: "My brother has been in the epidemic area. There are too many sudden cases now. He is very busy."

Zheng Wanqing stepped forward and rested her forehead on his shoulder: "I want to go to the epidemic area to see my brother tomorrow."

Xie Yun froze for a moment, and the movements of his hands also stopped. He raised his arms and put them around her, placing his palms on her back and slowly tightening his grip.

He knew that his wife was determined and even ten oxen could not pull her back.

"I'll go with you tomorrow."

The fire burned quietly, and the room finally felt a little warmer.

Zheng Wanqing watched Xie Yun make the bed and pulled him to sit down beside it.

"We agreed that we must sleep tonight." She said in a muffled voice.

Xie Yun chuckled softly, his voice like the deep sound of a cello, especially beautiful in the quiet night: "Okay."

"Don't sneak away in the middle of the night to handle official business." She reminded him again, her eyes full of seriousness.

"Yeah." Xie Yun responded with a doting look in his eyes.

"If I find out you've lied to me tomorrow morning..." Zheng Wanqing crossed her arms over her chest, her eyes wide open, and raised her chin in a threatening manner.

Xie Yun looked at her with interest, a smile flickering in his eyes. He reached out and gently scratched her nose, then asked with a smile, "How is it?"

Zheng Wanqing looked at the gentle smile in his eyes and couldn't help but be dazed. She pursed her lips slightly, reached out and gently poked his chest, and said coquettishly: "I will tell my brother that you bullied me."

Xie Yun finally couldn't help laughing out loud, his chest vibrating slightly, and his laughter echoed in this small room: "Hey, listen to the madam."

It was late at night and the wind and snow outside gradually subsided.

The two of them lay down in their clothes, and the narrow bed made a sound of being overwhelmed. Xie Yun lay on his side, and in order to make more room for Zheng Wanqing, his whole body was almost hanging over the edge of the bed.

Zheng Wanqing refused to give in. She reached out and pulled Xie Yun's arm, pulling it coquettishly, forcing him to move a little closer to her, muttering softly, "If you move any further, you'll fall."

Xie Yun looked at her pretending to be angry but unable to hide her caring face, and couldn't help but smile softly. Zheng Wanqing snuggled into his arms and rested her head on his chest, clearly listening to his heartbeat coming through his thin shirt, fast and heavy.

"Don't move," her voice was soft and sleepy, yet cutely stubborn. "It's warm like this. Your body is warm, like a little stove." As she spoke, she rubbed against his arms like a lazy kitten.

"Okay, I'll listen to you and go to sleep." Xie Yun said softly.

Zheng Wanqing closed her eyes and gently rested her forehead against his stubbled chin. Her right hand was still tightly grasping the shoulder of his shirt, afraid that he would slip away again if she wasn't paying attention. She mumbled, "Go to sleep, I'll watch over you." Her hair rose and fell gently with her breathing, brushing against the tip of his nose.

The familiar jasmine scent finally made Xie Yun relax. He put his arms around her waist and pulled her into his arms. Zheng Wanqing immediately took advantage of the situation and wrapped her legs around him, her knees against his legs, clinging to him like a vine.

The fire gradually weakened, and amid the subtle sounds of coal cracking, Zheng Wanqing felt Xie Yun's breathing gradually become long and steady, knowing that he had gradually fallen asleep. But she still did not dare to relax, and although her fingers holding his collar were slightly sore, she still refused to let go.

In a state of half-sleep and half-wakefulness, she seemed to feel Xie Yun gently kissing the top of her head. The gentle touch was like a feather brushing past, with endless tenderness. And the arms that tightly held her never let go.
