Two months passed in the blink of an eye. With the arrival of winter, the school was on holiday, and the entire Sacred Heart City was covered in a layer of silver.
In the small courtyard behind the house, Luo Fan was having a snowball fight with two beautiful girls, their clear laughter echoing throughout.
"Aili, Liss has already reached level 7 as an apprentice mage. When can we form a contract?"
“She can enter the academy once she reaches level 8. She is still too young and has eye problems.”
"What should we do? We can't stay here every day. Should we go ask the principal?"
"Let's talk about that when school starts. Right now, Lis needs to meditate during the day, so it's better for her to stay at home."
"Alright!" Luo Fan looked at the little girl jumping around and didn't dwell on it anymore, since she was blind.
"Lise, can you control the magic in your eyes now?" Ellie asked, pulling her sister's arm.
"It's still not working. They keep avoiding me, but my eyes don't hurt anymore."
"All right."
After spending the day playing with her younger sister, Ellie took Luo Fan out. After two months of hard work, she had reached level 6 of the beginner mage class and had even received permission from the school to enter the dungeon.
Daisy is just one level short, and she's currently working hard to improve.
Inside the Adventurers' Guild, Ellie and Emil met up, registered, and set their sights on the Ice Shadow Dungeon outside the city.
Besides ice-type monsters, there were also quite a few dark-type monsters there.
"This is the entrance? It looks pretty ordinary!" Luo Fan muttered to himself.
Before them lay a low earthen slope, covered in a thick layer of snow. At the foot of the slope stood a door, and two armed warriors stood at the entrance, chatting. Adventurers frequently showed their credentials and entered.
If you don't look closely, you might mistake it for an ordinary shop; its storefront isn't even as grand as the guild's main entrance.
Perhaps because of the weather, there weren't many adventurers coming and going.
“Ellie, this is my bodyguard Arthur, a mid-level martial artist. He will guide us on this adventure!” Emil briefly introduced his teammate standing to the side.
"Hello, Uncle Arthur!" Ellie greeted him simply. The middle-aged man gave a brief nod and then headed towards the dungeon.
"Ellie, let's go!"
"Um!"
They passed through the gate smoothly and went down the steps to officially enter the initial level of the underground city. Several layers of intricate caves appeared before them.
"Follow me, and according to the original plan, deal with the Black Ball Beasts first!" Arthur said, walking straight towards one of them, with Ellie and the others following closely behind.
Before long, several more groups of adventurers appeared, gathered together to discuss something, and then headed towards the lowest cave, which led to the first floor.
The underground city here is like a maze, with open spaces throughout. The caves are intricate and interconnected, making it easy to get lost without a guide.
The dungeon will spawn a large number of monsters, and the deeper you go, the stronger the monsters you may encounter.
No one knows how dungeons are formed. They are usually filled with large amounts of magical elements, making them easy breeding grounds for monsters. Even after the guild has been operating for so many years and countless adventurers have ventured into them, dungeons still continuously spawn various monsters.
However, the magical elements inside are much more turbid than outside, making it unsuitable for meditation. Therefore, even the guild only stationed a few martial artists there to deal with any unexpected events.
"Wow, this feels so good!" Luo Fan nestled in Ai Li's arms, took a deep breath, and felt his body swell up.
"Brother Fan, this place is so eerie, I don't like it." Huo Yu sat on Luo Fan's lap, grabbing his outstretched tentacle, looking somewhat uneasy.
"Don't be afraid, I'll protect you. Watch me slay those little monsters!"
"Uh-huh."
Ellie and Emil also took out their staffs, cast a light spell, and followed behind Arthur, carefully surveying their surroundings.
Inside the pitch-black cave, a few glowing stones were scattered about, making it quite dim, and a slightly putrid smell wafted through the air.
A moment later, a hairy creature emerged from the shadows of a crevice and charged straight at them.
"Shadow Swamp! Shadow Bind!" Ellie made her move, freezing the slow-moving Black Ball Beast in place. Emil followed up with a Fireball.
In an instant, the little guy was roasted to ashes, leaving only a black crystal core the size of a peanut.
"So weak? Ellie, tell Emil not to make a move. I'll try to leave him with a whole corpse." Luo Fan was stunned for a moment, then quickly stretched out his tentacle and swallowed the crystal core.
Arthur stood guard nearby, and after the battle was over, he walked forward while explaining the situation.
"This level is mainly inhabited by Black Ball Beasts, along with some rodent-type magical beasts, so it's quite easy for you. As you go deeper, the number of magical beasts will increase, but the difference in strength won't be too significant. As long as you don't encounter magical beasts from other levels, you generally won't encounter any major problems."
"Will the monsters on other floors roam around?" Emil asked.
"Yes, once a king among certain magical beasts is formed, many other magical beasts on that floor will be driven out, causing chaos. However, this dungeon hasn't seen such a creature for a long time, so there shouldn't be any problems."
"Oh, that's good!" Ellie nodded.
"What a load of rubbish! This uncle is a jinx. I'm sure we'll run into this situation this time! I'm most afraid of people who make promises they can't keep." Luo Fan thought to himself. Following Ellie, who seemed to have a protagonist's halo, the probability of encountering risks was very high.
"Ah, Luo Fan, really?" Ellie instantly lost her composure and became more alert.
"Yes, that's what they say in novels."
"Can you be serious for once? Don't scare me!"
"Oh." Luo Fan thought for a moment. Nothing seemed to have happened during this time. Maybe it was just his imagination.
After defeating several more Black Ball Beasts, Luo Fan discovered that their blood was pitifully scarce and practically useless, so he gave up. Ellie, on the other hand, collected quite a few pelts and put them in her magic bag.
"This thing is worth more than ten copper coins; it's a shame to throw it away."
Well, as expected of a professional mascot, she's just that professional.
"Miss, shall we go to the second floor?" Arthur asked, looking at the fork in the road ahead.
"Go on, we've come this far. What kind of magical beasts are inside?"
"Goblins, various slimes, and the more advanced black ball beasts. There are only a few of us, so be careful. Goblins usually live in groups and are quite powerful."
“Okay, Ellie, stay close.”
"Goblins? I'm finally going to see my good friends again. I was chased and bullied by you guys before, but now I can finally get my revenge, hehe!" Luo Fan became extremely excited.
As for their own kind, they can just be swallowed up when the time comes, to avoid damaging the environment.
Before long, the three encountered two goblins chasing several slimes. Sensing the light, the goblins immediately ran over.
"Watch this!" Luo Fan leaped forward, his tentacle transforming into a sharp spike that pierced through the tentacles, drawing blood. He then dealt with the other tentacle and began absorbing its blood.
"As expected, the taste of revenge is quite satisfying. You can handle those slimes now." Luo Fan said, taking out two water-type magic cores and handing them to Ai Li.
The swift movements stunned Arthur. Was this thing really a slime? Why was it so strong?
Ellie was used to it. After all, Luo Fan had been fed a lot of monster blood, and his combat ability was already very strong. He could even fight a mid-level martial artist to a standstill.
Emil didn't care; she never considered it a slime anyway. Whose slime is this weird?
After easily defeating the remaining slimes, the three continued on their way.
"Aili, is this really a slime?" Arthur couldn't help but ask, thinking about the differences between it and the previous ones.
"Of course! He's already level 23, so bullying monsters around level 10 is a piece of cake for him."
