Chapter 23 Dungeon Mutation

"Still haven't found them? They shouldn't have gone far!" The group gathered together, searching the entire first floor.

"Could they have gone to the second floor?"

"Go and search, but be careful. We need to capture Ellie and the slime alive; as for the others, just kill them."

"Okay, I'll go notify the other teams!"

Luo Fan's team continued to roam the second floor, encountering only level 12 magical beasts at most. Even when they encountered a small horde of goblins, Luo Fan easily dealt with them, without Huo Yu even having a chance to make a move.

"Miss, shall we go to the third floor? The magical beasts there are all level 10 or higher, and there are also creatures like the Ice Serpent that are good at ambushes."

"Well, Ellie, what do you think?"

"Let's go take a look. As long as it's not above level 20, it shouldn't be a big problem." Ellie echoed what someone had said, as she also wanted to collect more materials.

“Alright, Fire Rain didn’t even get a chance to shine; it was entirely your pets fighting the monsters.” Emil agreed with a smile. This adventure was indeed not as fun as he had imagined.

Then, the three of them erected a magic shield and entered a passage again.

"Uncle, why haven't we seen a single adventurer here?" Ellie repeated Luo Fan's question, eager to know the answer as well.

"Most adventurers will go and hunt Ice Demon Rabbits. Those things don't do much damage, and their pelts can fetch a good price."

"But if we accidentally encounter a large group of goblins here, we could be wiped out!"

"Oh, is it really this dangerous here?" Emil asked, glancing at Luo Fan.

"Yes, newcomers usually don't choose this side. It's mainly because you'll be fighting dark-type monsters, and this is where you'll find the most of them," Arthur added.

"Okay, Ellie, your pet is just too strong!"

In a monitoring room somewhere underground, several middle-aged men dressed in guild uniforms were playing cards.

"Isn't it strange? There are more than twice as many adventurers as there were yesterday!"

"I saw it too; they looked like they were looking for someone."

"Forget it, as long as we don't cause trouble. This damn weather is no better than staying in bed."

"It's some young lady's bed, isn't it? You think I don't know?"

"Hehe~, stop talking nonsense and play your cards!"

On Ellie's side.

Emil complained, "Arthur, the monsters on these three levels don't look strong, and there are so few of them."

Arthur didn't want to speak; the slime's strength had exceeded his comprehension. It could create clones, transform into spears, and jump incredibly fast. If a real fight broke out, even he, a mid-level martial artist, wasn't confident he could defeat it, especially in this environment.

"Hey, there's a level 18 guy up ahead, let me handle this!" Emil shouted quickly, while simultaneously casting a spell, a second-tier fire serpent.

As a result, the opponent released a shadow shield, which barely blocked her attack.

"Be careful, it's a goblin mage! There are definitely other goblins lying in ambush nearby!" Arthur warned, but by then Luo Fan had already made his move, splitting into several and charging out in all directions.

Emil paused for a moment, then cast the spell again, a third-tier Fire Phoenix Strike.

The mage's shield was shattered, and he was instantly killed.

"Where are the other ambushers? Why haven't they come out yet!" Emil casually replenished a shield and asked Arthur.

"They should have all been taken care of by that slime!" Arthur only heard a lot of screams, and after a while, the slime returned with the magic core.

Luo Fan discovered that in this environment, it could sense monsters within a range of several meters, thus making its attacks swift, accurate, and ruthless.

Just as he was feeling somewhat smug, he sensed a monster approaching from the upper right corner at high speed, and quickly warned Ellie and Fire Rain to be careful.

Then, to Emil's astonishment, Fire Rain unleashed a large fireball spell at a certain spot, smashing it directly towards it.

A roasted ice serpent fell down with several rocks, still steaming. Luo Fan went up, dug out an ice-type magic core, and handed it to Emil.

"Fire Rain is amazing, you even discovered that!" Emil laughed happily, his pet was really amazing.

Ellie didn't explain; she was used to it. Other people's pets needed Luo Fan's command, but hers was completely hands-off and even helped earn money.

No wonder her mother was so at ease back then, and even let Luo Fan protect her.

Along the way, Luo Fan and Huo Yu reaped a harvest, leaving Arthur numb and even making him doubt whether his past experiences were real.

Back when we were conquering this area, we brought over a dozen people and spent a lot of effort just to get to the fourth level. Now, it's like we're just watching a show.

They came to another fork in the road, and Arthur didn't want to talk anymore.

"Ellie, shall we go to the next floor?" Emil asked, looking at the sign ahead.

"Uncle Arthur, is the next level dangerous?"

"Yes, many of the monsters inside are over level 20, mainly dark-type, and many are good at ambushes."

"Then let's leave it at that, we'll just stay on this floor!" Ellie remembered something she'd read about before. In dungeons, dark-type monsters are often more dangerous than those of other types. Considering their limited strength, it's better to play it safe.

Of course, Luo Fan didn't object, and they had a lot of fun on this floor.

“Okay, safety first.” Emil nodded.

"Not going to the fourth floor? That's great!" Arthur breathed a sigh of relief. The fourth floor was indeed a bit dangerous, and he wasn't confident he could completely protect the two girls.

Continuing to explore the third area, they killed many more monsters, and the stench of decay in the air grew even stronger.

"That monster is level 22?!" Emil became more alert as he watched the ice wolf charging towards him.

"Aren't these only found on the third floor and below? How did they get up here?" Arthur drew his longsword, ready to attack.

"Hehe, as expected, something unexpected happened. Awesome." Luo Fan darted out and crashed directly into the Ice Wolf, only to be bounced away.

"Damn, its momentum isn't as strong as this!" Seeing the ice spikes flying towards him, Luo Fan decisively turned into a circle, avoiding a lot of damage.

"Shadow Binding!"

"Fire Phoenix Strike!"

The two girls also unleashed their spells, but the damage was limited. Instead, Arthur rushed forward and chopped off the head of the struggling ice wolf with a single sword strike.

Luo Fan then followed, stopped the bleeding wound, and began to savor the taste.

"Miss, are you alright?"

"It's alright, Arthur. Luckily you reacted quickly. I didn't expect ice-type monsters to be so resistant to fire."

"Watch out, another Ice Demon Wolf is coming!" Ellie shouted a warning, and Luo Fan, who had just finished drinking blood, also jumped over.

"Could something have happened on the next level?" Arthur's heart pounded as he looked at the dozen or so ice wolves ahead, and the air itself seemed to turn icy cold.

Meanwhile, the group, having failed to find Ellie on the second floor, began to explore the third floor.

Not long after, the guild's patrol personnel issued a warning.

"A monster riot has occurred on the 5th floor. Adventurers, please prepare to leave the dungeon immediately!"

The sound, aided by magical devices installed in various locations, continued to propagate throughout the cave.

Soon, many adventurers who were exploring the first and second floors came out.

"Wait for the rabbit to run into the tree stump?" Upon hearing these warnings, those who were preparing to capture Ellie decisively changed their strategy and began to stake out various intersections on the third floor.

"Damn it, something really happened!" Arthur cursed as he heard the sounds coming from inside the cave. He wasn't entirely confident he could escape unscathed from the wolf pack ahead, let alone protect the girl behind him.

"A monster uprising on the fifth floor? Interesting. I knew something bad was going to happen, and sure enough, it's here. Ellie, you really are the legendary chosen one!" Luo Fan remarked.

"Luo Fan, stop thinking nonsense and think of a solution!" Ai Li, who was extremely nervous, breathed a sigh of relief after hearing what Luo Fan said.

"Fire rain, burn that bastard to death!"
