The battle ended in Ellie's defeat, lasting only about two minutes.
When several snowballs attacked her simultaneously, cutting off her spellcasting opportunities, she knew she had lost.
It hurt so much to be hit by several snowballs.
"Brother Fan, I've avenged you!" Having achieved her goal, Xiaoxue happily ran over.
"Xue'er is such a good girl!"
Seeing Ellie limping over, Luo Fan added, "Ellie, you've gotten so much stronger too!"
"Ellie, are you alright?" Daisy ran over and helped her up.
"I'm fine, I'll be alright after a rest! Luckily, Xiaoxue controlled her strength." Ai Li rubbed her arm and thigh where she had been hit, and looked at Xiaoxue and Luo Fan's close embrace with a hint of jealousy.
"It's good that you're alright. Ellie, you've become so amazing, I can't keep up with you."
"I'll practice with you, and you can challenge Xiaoxue in the future."
"Mmm, Ellie, you're so sweet! By the way, the guild is having two big auctions in the next two days, you absolutely have to come with me. With your good eye, you're sure to find some great stuff."
"An auction? That's great! I was just wondering what to do with all those purple gold coins. Xiaoxue, your brother will buy you some nice things then." Luo Fan thought to himself.
"Mmm~"
After hearing this, Ellie felt uneasy again. This traitor shouldn't have been entrusted with managing the money.
"Okay! Let's go back!" After glaring at Luo Fan, Ellie pulled Daisy and Liz away.
Inside the hall, the Duke was examining the auction items sent by the guild. He didn't seem to care much upon learning that Ellie had regained consciousness.
Xianxian stayed next to the princess, continuing to practice communicating with Toria, looking very serious.
The princess was also looking at the list, seeing if there was anything that interested her.
Just then, three girls walked in, followed by Xiaoxue, and they seemed to be having a great time.
"Yes, the magic is more restrained. The effects of the Spirit Essence are indeed very strong." The Duke looked at Ellie and nodded in praise.
"Yes, it's such a big piece!" The lady nodded with a smile, took out a small box, and handed it to Ellie. She had already dealt with the leftovers.
"Thank you, Auntie!" Ellie accepted it shyly. Because the Duchess liked Ellie, she had her change how she addressed her in private.
"Spiritual marrow?" The princess looked up, quite surprised, as that thing was a treasure.
The lady gave a brief explanation, and Toria was envious; she had never encountered anything so wonderful. The princess herself had consumed Blue Spirit Marrow and naturally knew the effects of this spiritual substance.
"Ellie, you're so lucky!"
Just as Ellie was about to tell him what Luo Fan had discovered, he stopped her; he didn't want to attract so much attention.
"Ellie, I don't want to be a treasure-hunting mouse, please don't tell anyone. Searching for treasure consumes a lot of spiritual energy, and besides, this is all thanks to you."
Luo Fan has always regarded Ai Li as his chosen one, so this little bit of luck is nothing to him!
"Your Highness, I was just lucky."
"Ellie, let's take a look at the other things we found yesterday!" Daisy urged, pulling on her arm. "Maybe there are some hidden gems among them!"
“This…” Ellie hesitated for a moment, but still took it out.
"These are all dark-attribute materials, Ellie, are you preparing to learn alchemy?" The lady noticed something amiss.
"I haven't decided yet. I want to buy some materials I need first. Things at the celebration are cheaper than in stores."
"Oh, I thought there would be something good again, hehe~" Daisy laughed.
"You should learn from Ellie; she knows how to save money."
Daisy stuck out her tongue and pulled Ellie to pick up a list of competing products to look at. Luo Fan glanced at it and quickly lost interest.
With only names and preliminary identification results, how can we find any bargains without the actual items? We'll have to go to the site and see.
The Duke, however, stared at him for a long time, and when he realized that the Duke was not interested in the list, he looked away.
"Father, Ellie and I are also going to the auction tomorrow!"
"Do you have money? These things aren't cheap," Kerry said dismissively, pointing to the starting prices on the booklet, the cheapest of which were over a hundred gold coins.
"That's none of your business. As long as he's richer than you, that's fine."
Kerry shut his mouth. Indeed, it was normal for his sister to have more money than him, given how pampered she was at home. But Daisy's subsequent comment left him feeling a little hurt, and he looked at his parents with resentment.
“I have several thousand gold coins, so buying one or two items shouldn’t be a problem. Brother, don’t you think so?” He then pulled out a purple gold coin.
“Kerry, don’t look at me, Daisy earned those herself,” the Duke quickly said, knowing that Daisy had earned several purple gold coins earlier.
"Father, you're biased. My brother and sister have more money than me, hmph!"
"Hehe~, it's your own fault for not knowing how to earn money." Daisy made a face and laughed happily.
George, however, attracted Lofan's attention; he kept stealing glances at Caitlin, but the princess didn't react at all. Not knowing how far their relationship had progressed, he could only quietly ask Xianxian.
"Brother Fan, that guy you mentioned doesn't even dare to talk to Master properly, all he does is peek. Master doesn't like that." Xianxian interjected, already clinging to Luo Fan's clone.
"Well, it turns out there wasn't even a step." They thought George would seize this opportunity to get closer to the princess. Turns out, it was all for nothing.
Luo Fan was somewhat annoyed by their lack of initiative; they hadn't taken the initiative themselves.
If I were to pursue the princess, my chances would probably be better than his. Although I'm just a slime, I have an inside man.
The auction on the second day began at 10 a.m.
Following the princess and her entourage, they arrived at the meticulously prepared hall, where many people were already seated, and a murmur of conversation filled the air.
"I heard there will be a special magical treasure auction this time, but I wonder what it is?"
"That thing is too expensive. I still prefer the weapons forged by Master Gern. Those are rare and hard to come by."
"There might be beast slaves this time too, but I wonder what they look like? That leopard woman in the brothel is really fierce; even with drugs, she can't handle it!"
"That thing is a rare commodity, we definitely can't afford it."
"Leopard girl? Interesting, I really want to go and see! I didn't expect there to be animal-eared girls in this world. If I come across one, should I buy her?" Listening to the crowd's discussion, Luo Fan quickly found the key point.
He remembered reading in the book that there was an Astor Empire on the other side of the Monster Forest, a kingdom of orcs. Because it did not border the empire, there was no normal trade between the two.
Crossing the Monster Forest is incredibly difficult; only wind and dark-elemental adventurers would attempt to smuggle goods there. After all, the relationship between the people there and humans is far from harmonious; books describe it as a barbaric empire.
Surprisingly, some orcs still end up here, probably because the profits are too high.
We arrived at a private room with a great view, and it was time for the auction to begin.
As expected, the host was the familiar Joanna.
