Chapter 26 A Plan to Turn the Tide
Chu Yunjin fell silent for a moment, then immediately understood the source of his hostility.
She glanced at Yan Cang.
Yan Cang's expression was tense, his brows and eyes as cold as frost.
Chu Yunjin knew that the original owner's shadow was too great, and it would not be easy for the subordinates of the Yan Prince's Mansion to believe her. Even if the Prince of Jin took the initiative to send her a letter, they could subconsciously think that she was being restless.
After all, she has a long criminal record, and it will take a long time before they completely trust her.
And at this moment...
Thinking of Prince Jin and the person in the palace who tampered with the court flogging, Chu Yunjin frowned, and a plan came to mind.
"Yan Cang." She straightened up slightly, hooked her arm around Yan Cang's neck, and spoke with a slightly coquettish and cunning expression, "I have an idea that requires your and Qingchuan's cooperation."
Yan Cang looked at her silently.
Qingchuan also looked suspicious, wondering what trick she was up to this time.
Chu Yunjin whispered something in Yan Cang's ear, her voice low but not completely silent. Qingchuan, being a martial artist, naturally heard her plan and his expression turned strange.
"He was so vicious to you, don't you want to teach him a lesson?" Chu Yunjin muttered. "The dignified Prince Yan is not a soft-hearted coward who lets others bully him without fighting back."
Qingchuan roared angrily, "Who are you calling a coward—"
"Shut up." Yan Cang's face turned cold, and he immediately ordered, "Proceed according to plan."
Qingchuan frowned: "This woman is cunning and treacherous. Does Master really trust her so much?"
Yan Cang's cold gaze swept over: "Trying to slap yourself again?"
Qingchuan raised his hand to slap himself in the face.
Chu Yunjin exclaimed, "No!"
Qingchuan stopped and looked at her expressionlessly.
"Yan Cang." Chu Yunjin kissed Yan Cang on the cheek. "Qingchuan is your personal bodyguard, loyal and devoted. Don't let me, a woman with a bad reputation, affect the trust between you."
Qingchuan felt incredibly embarrassed when he saw her actions.
What's wrong with this woman?
In broad daylight, under the clear sky, they actually kissed?
Couldn't she consider that there were other people present?
Qingchuan turned to leave.
Chu Yunjin called out to him, then got up and walked to the desk. She picked up her pen and wrote a reply, asking Qingchuan to find a reliable person to deliver it to Prince Jin: "There should still be spies planted by Prince Jin in the Prince's mansion. Hmm, let's use that Granny Cao. You can pass the letter to her discreetly. I want to arrange a meeting with Prince Jin at Qingfeng Tower."
Qingchuan turned to look at Yan Cang.
Yan Cang nodded, indicating that he should do as he was told.
He couldn't help but grumble to himself, thinking that his master shouldn't have trusted this woman so easily. Was Qingfeng Tower such a nice place? It was a place for high-ranking officials and nobles to eat and enjoy themselves. The food wasn't particularly famous, but the women who sang for money each had their own unique charm.
Although it wasn't a brothel or a place of depravity, ordinary women from respectable families would never go to Qingfeng Tower.
"Guard Qingchuan." Chu Yunjin noticed his displeasure and said casually, "The day before yesterday, I was misled when I framed the Imperial Concubine in the palace. The other party tried every means to make me divorce Yan Cang, and Yan Cang had to bring it up himself. The purpose was to provoke the Emperor's wrath and cause him to be flogged... The flogging in the palace was tampered with, enough to cripple someone."
Qingchuan's expression changed: "What did you say?"
“The Prince of Jin arranged for two people to be responsible for wielding the cane in advance. One of them tampered with the cane in order to cripple Yan Cang and leave him with a lifelong injury that could not be healed.”
Qingchuan's expression changed drastically: "Is that so?"
He looked at Yan Cang in disbelief: "Master, how dare the Prince of Jin do this right under the Emperor's nose? Isn't that incredibly audacious?"
Moreover, how could Prince Jin be so sure that the Emperor would always punish the prince with caning?
Is he a prophet?
“He was indeed incredibly audacious.” Chu Yunjin said with a guilty tone, “He was betting on the Emperor’s wrath and Yan Cang’s despondency after the divorce, hoping that his tricks would go undetected.”
Qingchuan clenched his fists, his expression chillingly cold.
How wicked is the Prince of Jin!
He bowed to Yan Cang, took the letter, and went out.
Chu Yunjin turned around and went to change her clothes: "I made an appointment for dark, so in order not to attract attention, I need to change my clothes and redo my makeup."
As she spoke, she turned to look at Yan Cang: "You should change your clothes too. I'm going to make him suffer in silence today."
Yan Cang's expression was subtle, but he didn't say anything.
Half an hour later, two men, one tall and one short, dressed in black, set off from the back gate of the Prince of Yan's mansion, boarded a low-key and simple carriage, and headed towards Qingfeng Tower.
They didn't go through the main entrance of Qingfeng Tower, but stopped the carriage far away in a small alley and waited in the carriage until night fell.
The sky gradually darkened.
Qingchuan's voice rang out from outside the carriage: "Master, Prince Jin has arrived. All his guards are stationed outside the gate. He has brought two personal guards upstairs."
Yan Cang looked at Chu Yunjin in front of him.
She was dressed as a young man in all black, with all her hair ornaments removed and her ears bare. She looked capable and neat, but her face was so beautiful that it was still clear that she was a woman.
Yan Cang carried her down from the carriage, circled around to the back of Qingfeng Tower, and then leaped up and flew over the wall.
Knowing the location the two had agreed upon, Chu Yunjin directed Yan Cang to avoid the waiters at Qingfeng Tower, quietly go up to the second floor through the back window, and then hug the corner of the wall and go up the stairs to the third floor.
Yan Cang placed Chu Yunjin on the ground and held her hand.
"Don't worry." Chu Yunjin squeezed her hand reassuringly, gave her a reassuring look, and then walked alone towards the innermost room on the third floor.
Two bodyguards stood outside the private room.
Chu Yunjin walked up to the door, said something to the two guards, and they opened the door for her.
Chu Yunjin entered the room, and the door was closed.
She saw the Prince of Jin standing by the window.
The room fell silent for a moment. Prince Jin turned around, looked at Chu Yunjin dressed in men's clothing, and was clearly taken aback before asking, "Where did you get these clothes?"
“I hid it secretly, Yan Cang doesn’t know.” Chu Yunjin walked over and sat down at the table. “I’ve been much gentler with him these past two days, and he’s lowered his guard, but the security in the palace is still very tight. If I hadn’t changed into these clothes, it wouldn’t have been easy for me to get out.”
Whether the Prince of Jin believed her or not, he stared at her coldly: "Why did you ruin my plans?"
Chu Yunjin asked, puzzled, "Did you ruin your plans? What do you mean?"
The King of Jin remained silent.
Chu Yunjin was unaware that he had ordered the flogging to be tampered with, and she was not so prescient as to know in advance how Yan Cang would be punished.
He pursed his lips and questioned in a gloomy tone, "Why didn't you make a scene about the Prince of Yan's divorce the day before yesterday? Why did you go to the Pei family with him yesterday? Why did you order Taozhi to be whipped and sent her back to the Prince of Jin's residence?"
"It wasn't me who gave the order, it was my maid, Ade." Chu Yunjin looked up at him, "Brother Yanheng, I..."
A muffled groan suddenly came from outside.
The Prince of Jin's expression changed slightly: "Who?"
Bang!
The door was kicked open violently.
Prince Yan Heng of Jin suddenly looked up, his pupils then contracted sharply, and he watched as Yan Cang slowly stepped across the threshold and appeared before him.
Under the lamplight, his handsome, godlike face appeared cold and piercing, like a grim reaper from hell.
