Exposure and Action

Exposure and Action

Tokyo, Harumi Pier.

The sun shone brightly, and the sky was cloudless. The azure sky resembled a fine tourmaline, its color clear and pure, as if washed by water.

On the cruise ship, Shiho Miyano received a text message from her older sister, Akemi. Upon seeing the unusual format of the message, she immediately realized something was wrong.

This special input format was a little secret between her and Mingmei. Previously, when she was under surveillance by an organization abroad, she and Mingmei, who was also under surveillance in China, communicated via email. In order to pass on some information, they created this special method to communicate.

She immediately tried to call Akemi Miyano, but the lack of answer made her heart sink.

Shiho Miyano pursed her lips, her expression cold. She opened the door and went into the corridor. She glanced at the bodyguards on the first-floor deck without making a sound, and went straight up to the second floor.

Although meeting Tsurumi Kawakami under Karasuma Renya's nose was dangerous, Miyano Shiho couldn't care less at this moment. She grabbed his arm and pulled him to a corner.

“Karasuma Renya may already be suspicious of us. The safe incident is the most likely thing to be discovered, and to put it another way, the research institute incident could also be found out. The organization is far more complex than you imagine; it is a giant crocodile, and what is floating on the surface is just the tip of the iceberg.”

Shiho Miyano's face was pale, and a hint of fear appeared in her eyes. She tried her best to calm herself down and continued, "Contact Curaçao now and see if you can get information about Gin's recent movements from her."

Rum and Gin have always been at odds, a fact that everyone knows after the bloody storm that has raged within the organization.

Even Shiho Miyano, who was staying at the research institute, had heard that Rum had recently lost favor with Renya Karasuma because of his introduction of Tsurumi Kawakami. In order to turn the tables and regain his dignity as the second-in-command, Rum would definitely keep a close eye on Gin's movements.

She needs to know why Gin took her sister Akemi away.

After hearing her words, Tsurumi Ryuu also became nervous, and he did exactly what Miyano Shiho said.

He frantically pulled out his phone and sent a text message to Curaçao.

-

Meeting point: underground parking lot.

As soon as Lai drove into the underground parking lot, before he even turned off the engine, he noticed a text message on his phone. He opened it and saw that it was from Akemi Miyano. His pupils contracted immediately after reading the content.

Looking up at Bourbon waiting by the car not far away, Lei frowned, rolled down the window, and gestured to him.

Amuro Tooru, puzzled, stepped forward. A cell phone was handed to him. He paused, glanced up at Rae, took the phone, and looked at the lit screen—

Beware of Gin.

Amuro Tooru frowned, asking in confusion, "What do you mean?"

Ray took back his phone and turned to leave. He glanced at Bourbon and said succinctly, "It's news from Akemi. Something might have happened to Shiho Miyano."

Upon hearing this, Amuro Tooru immediately reacted and stopped Ray. He said quickly with a grim face, "The research institute has been exposed, and the cruise ship is also in danger. I will have the Public Security Bureau set off ahead of time. Since Miyano Akemi sent you a message, she has most likely been taken away by Gin. Gin told us to wait for him here."

Lei also realized what Amuro meant. Since Gin had told them to wait here, he would come regardless of whether their identities were exposed or not.

Lei fell silent, and Amuro Tooru didn't say anything more either. He leaned against the car he had driven there, his thoughts racing, worrying about the Public Security Bureau one moment and about Tsurumi Kawaru's situation on the cruise ship the next.

However, distant water cannot quench immediate thirst; the most important thing right now is how to deal with Gin.

Did Gin discover his identity? And why did he capture Miyano Akemi?

Last time, thanks to Tsurumi Kawakami's initiative, he was able to meet with Shiho Miyano at the research institute and successfully obtain evidence of the organization's research into illegal drugs.

Before meeting Shiho Miyano, Amuro knew to some extent about her existence. After all, the number of members in the organization who received codenames was not large, and some of them were particularly special.

Leaving Vermouth aside for now, Sherry, whose codename has only been passed down but whose whereabouts remain unknown, is equally mysterious. However, Amuro Tooru didn't gather much information about her; it was only through Ray and the intelligence team that he discovered Miyano Akemi was her older sister.

That led to the meeting at the research institute that day.

Amuro Tooru's thoughts raced for a moment before he finally calmed himself down and looked up at Ray: "We don't know Gin's purpose yet. The worst-case scenario is that our identities are exposed, and he'll be responsible for eliminating the undercover agents."

Ray's expression darkened slightly as he glanced at Amuro Tooru and said in a low voice, "Akami is just a low-level member, and because of Miyano Shiho, she is under surveillance by the organization. Gin can only go to her because of Miyano Shiho, and Sherry's importance to the organization is self-evident. Akami is her only weakness."

Hearing Lei's words, Amuro Tooru frowned and could only comfort him, "Only Sherry and I were in contact at the research institute that day, so Gin will be even more suspicious of me."

After Amuro finished speaking, he carefully reviewed his schedule for the past few days to make sure there were no other points of exposure. After hesitating for a few seconds, he took out his phone and sent a text message to Curaçao.

...

Curaçao, engrossed in her work, received two text messages one after the other. She stretched her neck, which had become stiff from looking down for so long, and opened the message from Tsurumi Kawa. After reading the content, the woman with heterochromatic eyes clearly changed her expression.

Curaçao pushed aside the intelligence reports she was dealing with, and just as she was about to call Rum, she saw Bourbon's message. She casually opened it and glanced at the contents, then her expression froze.

Based on the information sent by Tsurumi River, Curaçao, with her exceptional memory, quickly found something amiss in the recent mission records of the action team.

Her expression hardened, her gaze sharpened, and she immediately dialed Rum's private number to report the situation.

Rum lost the boss's trust and became depressed for a while, and his power was also greatly reduced.

The most obvious thing is that he was excluded and lost the channel to know about Karasuma Renya's actions. To this day, he still does not know that Karasuma Renya left the manor and planned to go to the new research institute base—an overseas island.

"It looks like Sherry... succeeded." Rum murmured after hearing Curaçao's report.

As the organization's second-in-command and the closest confidant to the boss, Rum knew that Karasuma Renya valued longevity drugs. Otherwise, he wouldn't have thought of introducing Tsurumi Kawaryo to Karasuma Renya in exchange for benefits after discovering his peculiarities.

Unfortunately, Rum's scheme against Gin backfired spectacularly, resulting in him losing both his wife and his army. He pushed Tsurumi River into Gin's hands and even had Gin introduce him to Karasuma Renya beforehand, which led to a series of events that followed.

Rum's heart ached again at the thought.

But at the same time, Rum quickly thought of an opportunity to gain favor with the boss. He immediately instructed Curaçao to send a message to Bourbon, determined to secure a chance to go to the island.

As for the text message Bourbon sent that subtly mentioned Gin's attempt to find fault with him, Rum mercifully asked Curaçao to tell him that he would handle the matter and that Bourbon should not worry.

-

Ding-dong—

Upon hearing the text message notification, Tsurumi Kawa immediately opened it. Curaçao's reply not only relieved him, but also made Shiho Miyano, who was standing next to him, feel a little more relaxed.

But more than anything, she was wary of Gin and worried about her older sister Akemi. She knew how important she was to the organization, but that didn't mean her sister Akemi wouldn't be "sacrificed" by the organization.

Shiho Miyano was well aware of the organization's or Renya Karasuma's thoughts: once they believed their interests were threatened or they could better control themselves, the life or death of her sister Akemi became insignificant.

Shiho Miyano quickly went through these thoughts in her mind, knowing that the longer she and Tsurumi Ryuu stayed, the less safe it would be. So she looked at him quickly and firmly and said, "No matter what others ask you later, you must insist that you know nothing."

Tsurumi Kawakami realized that the situation was not going to end well, so he nodded and agreed.

Soon, Shiho Miyano's bodyguards noticed her approaching, and shortly after, Renya Karasuma was given the order to see her.

Meanwhile, Gin and Vodka, along with Akemi Miyano, arrived at the old spot he had mentioned in the text message he sent to Ray Bourbon.

Meanwhile, Kazami, who had received Bourbon's notification, immediately reported the situation to his superiors. A few minutes later, a team quietly drove to Harumi Pier in Tokyo Bay.

-

"Shirley, do you know why I value you the most among all the researchers?"

In the brightly lit room, Karasuma Renya, dressed in casual clothes, sat on a single sofa, his hands clasped together, holding a black cane with a ferocious beast head carved at the top.

The white-haired, youthful-looking old man gazed intently at the young girl standing before him.

Shiho Miyano wasn't wearing a white lab coat; instead, she wore a dark-colored pullover hoodie and jeans. Her attire seemed completely out of place in the room.

Shiho Miyano was silent for two seconds, then nodded.

Karasuma Renya demanded in a deep voice, "Then why did you betray the organization, and betray me?"

Shiho Miyano seemed startled by the question. She abruptly raised her head and calmly said, "I didn't."

Karasuma Renya narrowed his eyes and turned to look at the bodyguard beside him. The bodyguard, who was supposed to be the background, quickly reacted, brought over a laptop, and then pointed the screen at Miyano Shiho.

The screen showed surveillance footage from inside the manor. In the footage, Shiho Miyano entered Renya Karasuma's room on the second floor and didn't come out of the room for five or six minutes.

The moment she saw the surveillance footage, Shiho Miyano guessed why Renya Karasuma had questioned her. Thinking that she had ultimately taken the blame for Tsurumi Nagare's actions, she felt somewhat speechless.

But now even Shiho Miyano can't reveal Tsurumi River's whereabouts.

So she immediately explained what had happened that day.

Karasuma Renya made no comment on this; he simply remained silent for a moment before waving to his bodyguard.

The bodyguard dutifully said, "Miss Shirley, the boss's safe was found to have been tampered with that day, and you are the only suspect."

Shiho Miyano was certainly aware of the whole story, but she pretended to be surprised and then flatly denied it.

Karasuma Renya: "Sherry, although I am very disappointed in you, I am still willing to give you a chance. As long as you tell me why you betrayed the organization and me, and who you met on the night the research institute was moved, and whether you gave anything to anyone, I will forgive you this time."

Shiho Miyano's heart skipped a beat as she realized that the research institute's affairs had finally been discovered.
