Chapter 320 Catching a False Confession in the Act

On Sunday morning, the employees of Junminhe gathered outside the store.

Once everyone had arrived, they said goodbye to Liu Ying, who was guarding the shop, and then rode or sat on bicycles and left.

After everyone had left, Liu Ying returned to the shop and sat alone at the window where she sold braised meat. Looking at the braised meat displayed in front of her, she smiled.

She was the only one left in the shop, which was nice.

Before long, customers arrived, and were somewhat disappointed to find that their shop only sold braised meat.

However, the braised meat from Junminhe tastes very good, and there are still many people buying it.

When the customers had almost finished buying, and there was still more than half a pound of braised meat left, Liu Ying put the rest of the meat away.

When more customers came, she would smile and say, "I'm sorry, we've already sold out of braised meat."

After hanging up the "Closed" sign, Liu Ying hummed a little tune as she strolled around the kitchen.

She first wrapped the braised meat in paper and put it in her bag. Then she started looking through the ingredients and saw which ones she could take some of but couldn't quite tell which ones she could take.

After working for about ten minutes, her bag was completely bulging.

There was nothing she could do; with so many people in the store, she could only take a little of anything, and she didn't dare stuff her bag too full.

But today, apart from her, there was no one else in the store, so she felt free to take more than she needed.

Although I didn't take much of anything, the variety was so great that my bag almost couldn't hold it all.

After putting everything away, she thought for a moment and returned to the spot where she sold braised meat.

Previously, she only dared to take some ingredients home, and dared not touch things like money. But today there was no one in the store, so she thought no one would notice if she took some.

At first she only took one yuan, then she quickly took another, and finally took a total of five yuan.

With both gifts and money, she's in an excellent mood.

Working in a military-civilian joint venture is great. I earn a good income every month and can even give things to my family to help out. I really hope there will be more jobs like this in the future where I can run the store on my own.

What's the most practical thing to do when you go out to play? It's to bring more things and money.

Feeling quite pleased with herself, she finished restoring everything in the kitchen, grabbed her bag, and then closed the shop and left.

"The birds in the trees are all in pairs."

As soon as she locked the door and turned around, Liu Ying was startled to see three people standing in front of her.

"Mr. Zhao, Ms. Wu Mei, what are you doing standing here?" Liu Ying quickly asked.

Looking at Liu Ying's bulging, heavy-looking bag, Wu Mei sneered.

"If we weren't here, how would we have been able to see this great show?"

"Sister Wu Mei, what do you mean?" Liu Ying asked with a forced smile.

Zhao Qinglan was too lazy to waste any more time and said directly, "I'll give you another chance. If you confess on your own, I won't call the police."

Liu Ying's heart skipped a beat. How could they have found out?

No way, I've been so careful. They're definitely bluffing her. She absolutely can't admit it, or she'll be finished.

Her thoughts raced for a moment before she immediately became resolute. "Mr. Zhao, what are you saying? I don't understand."

"Is this a case of 'not shedding tears until the coffin is in sight'?" Zhao Qinglan sneered.

"Do you dare to open the bag in your hand and let us see it?" Wu Mei said, glaring at Liu Ying.

Liu Ying immediately hugged her bag tightly. "Why are you looking at my bag? This is my own stuff."

Wu Mei was unwilling to give up. Was she really just going to let the person go like this?

Thinking about it, she wanted to step forward and snatch the bag, but Zhao Qinglan stopped her as soon as she reached out her hand.

"Qinglan, why are you stopping me?" Wu Mei asked, puzzled.

"It's fine whether we look at this bag or not. We can just take the police to our kitchen to check it. Sister-in-law, you don't know, do you? Everyone's fingerprints and footprints are different."

As she spoke, she glanced at the male officer beside her who had remained silent. "Officer, am I right?"

“That’s right,” the man replied affirmatively.

Zhao Qinglan glanced at Liu Ying deliberately before turning to Wu Mei and continuing.

"So, we've already left evidence of what someone did. All the police need to do is investigate the kitchen and find out who it was."

Wu Mei suddenly realized, "Then what are we waiting for? Officer, you should go check on our kitchen right away."

The man glanced at Zhao Qinglan.

"Officer, thank you for your help." Zhao Qinglan smiled.

Actually, she was just bluffing Liu Ying. People come and go in the kitchen all day long, and fingerprints and footprints are not so easy to identify. Even if Liu Ying works here, it's normal to have her fingerprints and footprints, but Liu Ying didn't know any of this.

As soon as she saw someone lift their foot, Wu Mei ran to open the door, and Liu Ying panicked completely.

She suddenly remembered what Zhao Qinglan had said before, "Mr. Zhao, do you stand by what you said before?" Liu Ying asked through gritted teeth.

Zhao Qinglan naturally understood which sentence Liu Ying was referring to. "Of course it counts, but it won't count for long."

Looking over there, Wu Mei had already opened the door, and the police officer was about to go in when Liu Ying's bag fell to the ground.

“Mr. Zhao, I’m telling you, I was wrong. I took some things from the store. I confess, I confess everything.”

If she doesn't speak up now, and the police find out, she'll be finished—she'll lose her job and get arrested.

Wu Mei and the police officer both stopped and looked over.

Seeing that they weren't going in, Liu Ying felt relieved; it was good that they weren't going in.

"How long did you take it, and how much did you take in total?" Zhao Qinglan asked calmly.

"That's all I took today." After saying that, Liu Ying opened her bag and showed it to them.

Good heavens, there's quite a lot of stuff. Wu Mei was so angry she gritted her teeth. This guy is a real parasite.
