Don't cry, dear.
Lu Zhizhi looked at Mu Han's closed door, his voice filled with unconcealed grievance: "Hanhan, I..."
Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by Mu Han's cold voice: "Mr. Lu, get out of my room."
Seeing his firm tone, Lu Zhizhi knew that further explanation would only add fuel to the fire. Although he was very reluctant, he clenched his fists, turned around and left reluctantly.
The moment the door closed, Mu Han leaned against it, his brow furrowed. Thinking of yesterday's events, the aches and pains throughout his body became more pronounced. He slowly straightened up and began to dress unhurriedly. When his fingertips touched the buttons, he paused, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes. After finishing his clothes, he pulled out his phone and called Edward, who quickly picked up.
"Mr. Edward," Mu Han's voice was filled with a subtle hint of fatigue, yet he remained polite. "I have something to do, so I have to leave early. I won't be there this afternoon."
Edward asked gently on the other end, "Are you the only one who can't come?"
"Yes, there's nothing else to do." Mu Han replied, "That's it for now, bye."
After hanging up, Mu Han quickly packed his belongings, gently opened the door, and made sure the hallway was empty before quickly leaving. Arriving at the airport, he looked at the people coming and going, thinking that his current state didn't make it easy to go home. As he was hesitating, his phone suddenly rang. After answering the call, he booked a flight to City S without hesitation.
On the plane, Mu Han turned off his cell phone, leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes to rest. Fatigue came over him like a tide, and he soon fell into a deep sleep.
At one o'clock in the afternoon, Lu Zhizhi arrived at the door of Mu Han's room on time and knocked gently: "Hanhan, are you awake?"
No one responded.
He knocked again, but only his own voice echoed in the hallway. Lu Zhizhi's heart sank, and he quickly pulled out his phone and dialed Mu Han's number, over and over again. The cold, "The number you dialed is currently unavailable" echoed through the receiver. He thought to himself, "Oh no!" he thought, thinking Mu Han must still be angry and had left early.
Lu Zhizhi turned around and quickly went to find Edward. When he saw him, he asked anxiously, "Mr. Edward, do you know where Mu Han is?"
Edward was a little surprised: "Didn't he tell you? He said he had something to do and went back early."
Lu Zhizhi's heart tightened and he hurriedly thanked him: "Thank you, I have something to do, so I'll leave first." Before he finished speaking, he strode towards the airport and booked a ticket home without hesitation. He had only one thought in his mind: he must find Mu Han.
A little after two in the afternoon, Mu Han's plane landed at S City Airport. He turned on his phone and quickly received a message. He clicked it and saw it was his location. He took a taxi to the coffee shop indicated by the location. When he opened the door, the afternoon sun filtered through the glass windows onto the floor, and the air was filled with the rich aroma of coffee.
Mu Han glanced around the room and quickly spotted a familiar figure in the corner. The man, wearing a hat and a black mask, and dressed in blue, hunched over, strode over and sat down across from him. Just as he was about to speak, he noticed a visible scar on the skin exposed by the edge of the mask.
"What happened?" Mu Han's voice suddenly became low, with an undisguised nervousness. "Tell me clearly, word for word."
The person opposite was Wen Cao. When she heard the voice, her shoulders shook slightly. She took off her mask, revealing the bruises on her face, and her voice choked: "Hanhan..." As soon as the words came out of her mouth, tears rolled down like beads from a broken string.
Seeing this, Mu Han's heart tightened. He immediately stood up and walked around to her side, gently holding her in his arms, caressing her back with his palm, and said in a very gentle voice: "Okay, okay, don't cry, I'm here."
Wen Cao was a friend Mu Han had met in junior high school. That year, Wen Cao was a freshman, and because of his poor family background, he was always bullied by the rich kids in his class. During a physical education class, Mu Han returned to the classroom early because he was not feeling well. As soon as he entered the classroom, he ran into several boys surrounding and pushing Wen Cao, and one of them was about to kick her.
"What are you doing?!" Mu Han shouted and walked over quickly.
When those people saw that it was Mu Han, they stopped moving instantly. Someone said with a playful smile, "Mr. Mu, don't you mind your own business?"
Mu Han ignored him and walked straight to Wen Cao, squatting down and speaking in a softer voice, "Are you okay?"
Wen Cao lowered her head, not daring to look at him, her whole body trembling violently. Mu Han noticed the purple scars on her arms, stood up abruptly, and glanced at the boys fiercely: "From now on, Wen Cao is under my protection. If anyone dares to lay a finger on her again, or secretly threaten her, don't blame me for making you pay for it! Get out of here!"
Those people were so scared that they ran away. Wen Cao raised his head, tears in his eyes: "Thank you..."
"I'll take you to the infirmary." Mu Han helped her up, his tone gentler than ever before.
From then on, no one dared to bully Wen Cao anymore. The two became best friends. Wen Cao was an excellent student, while Mu Han was severely limited in his academic performance, so she tutored him every day. In their third year of junior high, they agreed to apply to the same university, and so they worked hard together.
When their results came out, they had similar scores and were admitted to the same university—Mu Han chose the Fine Arts Department, and Wen Cao chose the Dance Department. Despite being in different departments, they still shared an apartment, living a simple and warm life.
It wasn't until her senior year that Wen Cao met a boy and they quickly became friends. Mu Han was reluctant, but he didn't object. Wen Cao was a talented dancer, and on stage she was like a lithe butterfly, dazzling and eye-catching.
On the day of graduation, Wen Cao said to Mu Han with red eyes: "Hanhan, I'm going to live in S City with him."
Mu Han frowned: "It's too far, don't go."
Wen Cao cried and shook her head: "After my parents left, you are the first person who treated me well. I know you are doing this for my own good, but I also want to live my own life... Let me go."
Mu Han looked at her determined eyes and finally relented: "Okay. If he treats you badly, tell me immediately."
After Wen Cao left, the two of them kept in touch at first, but later they were busy with their own things and gradually heard less and less.
After a long while, Wen Cao finally got tired of crying. She raised her head from Mu Han's arms, wiped her tears with her sleeves, and looked at Mu Han with tears in her eyes.
