"Okay, I'll go to Hong Kong again in a few days. There are some things that need to be taken care of." Lu Feng said and hung up the phone.
It was already past four in the morning. Summer nights are very short. At this moment, a bluish tinge had appeared outside. Lu Feng stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray and went upstairs to rest.
The next day around noon, Duoduo stood by the bed and nudged Lu Feng with her hand, muttering, "Daddy, wake up, I'm hungry!"
"Go ask your mom if you're hungry. Dad went to bed late last night, go back to sleep." Lu Feng turned over and continued sleeping.
“My mom went to work, so I gave her the money. There are no taxis around here, and my aunt went back to her hometown.” Duoduo was still pushing Lu Feng with her hands.
Lu Feng, unable to bear the commotion any longer, sat up, rubbed his face, and said irritably, "Why aren't you going to school?"
"I'm on summer vacation," Duoduo replied.
After a long while, Lu Feng finally came to his senses. He changed his clothes, drove out, and took her out to eat. In the private room of the restaurant, Lu Feng looked at Duo Duo, who had already grown into a rather graceful young woman, and asked, "Do you have a lot of summer homework?"
"There's no summer homework. I'll be in junior high when school starts," Duoduo grinned.
"You're already in the first year of junior high?" Lu Feng was a little incredulous; she was practically a grown woman by now.
After speaking, he stared at her and carefully estimated her appearance. She was about right. This child was almost 1.5 meters tall now. She had a ponytail, and when she smiled, her crescent-shaped eyes were mischievous. Her skin was also much fairer, and it was obvious that she was not ugly. However, she did not resemble Lu Feng or Jiang Xiaoyan.
"Have you decided which junior high school to attend?"
“My mom said I should go to Shenzhen Middle School,” Duoduo replied.
"Is this school any good?" Lu Feng asked, puzzled.
"I don't know, it should be alright. My mom said she made a few phone calls and got in based on your name," Duoduo said truthfully.
"Do you want to study in Hong Kong?" Lu Feng asked.
Duoduo didn't know how to answer. She was no longer a child and understood her family's situation. Her parents' separation was probably inevitable.
Lu Feng wanted to ask a follow-up question, but when he thought about putting such a difficult question in front of a child, he felt it was a bit cruel. After a long while, he sighed and started lecturing in a very fatherly tone, saying that he should study hard in junior high school and not just play around like he did in elementary school.
"I have something to do in a bit. You can go home by yourself or go hang out with your classmates." Lu Feng rummaged through several pockets and pulled out a little over two hundred yuan in change, handing it to her and saying, "Remember to take a taxi home."
"Okay, thank you, Dad!" Duoduo took the money and smiled broadly.
After finishing his meal, Lu Feng paid the bill and drove straight to the company. Once upstairs, he called Zhu Lidong directly into his office.
"Mr. Lu, when did you get back?" Zhu Lidong looked at Lu Feng with some surprise, as he hadn't heard that things in Hong Kong were settled.
"Let's not talk about that last night. I have a question for you: who is in charge at Changhong right now?" Lu Feng asked.
"His name is Ni Runfeng now, so what?"
"Can you get in touch with him? Can you help me contact him and tell him that I plan to sell my shares in Jiafeng Group to him for one yuan?" Lu Feng said calmly.
"What?" Zhu Lidong exclaimed, stunned and frozen in place, not knowing what had happened. Had Lu Feng gone mad?
"Didn't you hear me clearly?" Lu Feng asked, looking at him with a puzzled expression.
"No... why is that?" Zhu Lidong sat down and asked, "What happened?"
Lu Feng briefly explained the situation, though not very clearly. However, Zhu Lidong had a pretty good idea of what was going on. It was clear that everyone was getting impatient with each other and wanted to quit.
"This is too vicious." Zhu Lidong frowned and said, "Should we shrink back a bit?"
“We can’t shrink back, so this is the only trick we have left: threats! Only by truly daring to fight to the death can we survive. Mr. Zhu, I trust you completely. You can hold my shares on my behalf. If anything happens to me, you can immediately sign off on the sale of the shares to Changhong.” Lu Feng stared at Zhu Lidong and said.
Zhu Lidong sat there silently. The fight had reached such a point that there was really no way out. If there were any other way, Lu Feng wouldn't have come up with such a ridiculous solution.
