Chapter 1186 Threat

The other party chuckled upon hearing this and readily stamped the document with the official document. As for whether this matter would cost him his job, he didn't care. Given the current situation in Hong Kong, who would care about someone as insignificant as him?

Losing his job is actually a good thing; he can take the money and go out to eat, drink, and have fun for a year, and then he can come back and continue working.

At 3:30 a.m., a black sedan took Lu Feng to the beach. When they arrived, the door opened, and the man sitting next to Lu Feng said in a low voice, "Get out!"

Lu Feng got out of the car, the door closed immediately, and the car drove away.

It was somewhat dark all around, and only a dim crescent moon could be seen high in the sky. The seawater lapped against the sand, making a splashing sound, and there were no other sounds.

A sea breeze blew by, and Lu Feng felt a chill. He looked around and saw no one. He couldn't understand why these people had left him on the beach.

Just as they were about to find a roadside to hail a taxi back, a beam of light shone over from the sea, followed by a speedboat. Su Yourong waved frantically at Lu Feng and shouted, "Come on up!"

Lu Feng walked towards the deeper water, boarded the motorboat, and asked Su Yourong, "What are you doing so late at night?"

“You have to go back to the mainland. It’s not safe here. I found a smuggler for you overnight. Jiang Xiaoyan will pick you up in half an hour in your family’s motorboat.” Su Yourong handed over a coat and said, “I never thought this day would come. It’s still a speedboat, still smuggling. It’s just a pity there’s no coast guard this time. Anyway, if you can’t find a way to counter the Schroder Group, I don’t recommend you come to Hong Kong again before July 1st next year.”

Lu Feng sat in his seat, looking up at the gloomy sky, feeling deeply moved. He turned to the driver in front and asked, "Do you have any cigarettes?"

"Yes, twenty yuan a piece!"

Lu Feng fumbled in his pocket for a long time, looking embarrassed. Su Yourong took out half a pack of women's cigarettes from her pocket and put it in Lu Feng's hand. She got off the boat and walked towards the shore.

The speedboat sped into the darkness, the sea breeze whistling past our ears.

About forty minutes later, the speedboat entered a shallow bay. The driver took out a flashlight and flashed it around. Soon after, a jet ski sped over. It was the same jet ski that came with the villa purchase. Jiang Xiaoyan was wrapped up tightly.

Lu Feng carefully stepped onto the jet ski, using the edge of the speedboat as a foothold. He then drove back to the deep water area dug in front of his house.

After getting ashore, it was only a two-minute walk to his doorstep. Lu Feng felt his legs were freezing cold, but thankfully the temperature wasn't too low. He took off his shoes and poured out some water. After hesitating for a moment, Lu Feng threw his shoes into the trash can in a huff.

"Thank you for your hard work," Lu Feng said to Jiang Xiaoyan.

"Go back to sleep. Doing this so late at night is embarrassing enough." Jiang Xiaoyan took off her coat after entering the house, tidied herself up quickly, and went upstairs to sleep.

Lu Feng couldn't sleep at all while sitting in the living room. He lit a cigarette and smoked silently. Just over an hour ago, he was in prison, but now he was sitting in the living room.

Clearly, John no longer cares about Lu Feng. Given Lu Feng's shareholding in the board, even if he doesn't attend the board meeting six months later, the equity sale agreement can still be passed. They no longer care about whether the company has a future; they care more about whether they can control the company.

Lu Feng chain-smoked cigarettes. Now that things had come to this, he had to find a way to deal with it, or he would just be a piece of meat lying on the display board.

Time ticked by, and Lu Feng looked up, silently calculating the time difference in his mind. He then took out his phone and called John, already having a plan in mind.

The phone rang for a while before being answered by the assistant. John was taken aback when he heard it was Lu Feng calling, but then let the call through.

“I have something to tell you. I just came out of a police station in Hong Kong. They want to arrest me because they received orders to carry out a British arrest warrant,” Lu Feng said into the phone.

“It seems you’re safe now. That’s good. I can’t be of much help with this, since I’m just an employee of the Schroder Group. I do meet some people at dinner parties, though. I might be able to put in a good word for you if I have the chance,” John said politely.

"No need. I think I can solve this myself. I called you because I suddenly thought of a creative solution. Recently, I've suddenly felt that the country is in a difficult situation. If some people continue to press on, then I don't mind selling my shares to a state-owned enterprise for one dollar."

Lu Feng, fearing he might not understand what this meant, explained, "Currently, there aren't many legal constraints on private enterprises in mainland China. Overseas mergers and acquisitions, except for core business companies, are generally permitted. However, state-owned enterprises are subject to stricter controls in this regard. Any transaction requires application to higher authorities and approval before it can proceed. If it's a central state-owned enterprise, it's even more complicated because they need to investigate whether it involves the loss of state-owned assets."

There was silence on the other end of the phone.

Lu Feng took two deep drags on his cigarette and continued, "I believe this equity agreement should be easily reached. By the way, you know Changhong, right? They're a formidable competitor. They also fit the profile of a state-owned enterprise, and it will be more troublesome if the equity falls into their hands."

“Mr. Lu, I think there might be a misunderstanding here. Please don’t get agitated.” John spoke up, smiling as he said, “The shares you hold now are quite valuable. Selling them at such a low price would be a huge loss. Besides, this matter needs the board’s approval. Calm down and get some sleep.”
