Goodley demanded that John convene a board conference call to oust Wei Yandan and bring in his own people to gain control of the company.
Without any substantial violation of company rules, it would be difficult to quickly remove a senior executive like Wei Yandan.
But now Goodley is facing a situation where Lu Feng can find any excuse to fire any management who is obstructing him, and he is powerless to do anything about it. This is a huge blow to his prestige within the group.
“Directly firing her is not realistic. After all, she is still a member of the board of directors. Unless we vote her out before the board meeting at the end of the year, we can only marginalize her now. Before you do anything, you should prioritize letting the management fight back.” John said with slight displeasure, “Don’t bring too much fighting to the board of directors. I’m quite busy too.”
What is John busy with?
Of course, they're busy shorting the Thai baht. Such an opportunity is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for large funds. They don't care about other countries or that this means they're siding with Wall Street. As long as there's money to be made, everyone is a brother.
Goodley agreed, promising to use the process to prevent a complete split between the R&D company and the group headquarters, while also working on the role of the management board representative at the next meeting.
At the next board meeting, none of Wei Yandan, Zhu Lidong, or Du Guoying will be elected.
The next day, Lu Feng woke up around nine o'clock in the morning and drank a glass of milk. Duo Duo had already gone to school. Jiang Xiaoyan was unusually staying at home today. Lu Feng walked to the sofa and sat down. He looked at the pile of folders on the coffee table, picked one up and glanced at it.
This is Hwasa's financial situation. Currently, she has a financial surplus of 168 million, and after deducting various outstanding payments, she still has a little over 100 million left.
"Wow, that's over a hundred million!" Lu Feng exclaimed in surprise.
"It's already worth over 100 million. Huasha is now one of the top three cleaning brands in China. Every day, they sell tens of tons of laundry detergent and soap," Jiang Xiaoyan said with a hint of pride.
Lu Feng picked up the other documents and started flipping through them. As he looked, he frowned and said, "Another expansion?"
“It’s a waste to leave so much money in the account. Plus, the market competition is fierce. I’m planning to invest in a big facility in the north. There are several cleaning brands in Shandong with a very high market share. I want to compete with them. I called them a few days ago and wanted to invest in them through a partnership, but they completely ignored me.” Jiang Xiaoyan said while organizing the documents, “Then don’t blame me for being impolite.”
Looking at her current state, which seemed to be unstoppable in the business world, Lu Feng hurriedly reminded her, "Let me tell you something: once a company grows big, you must pay attention to international finance and economic cycles. Most of the big bosses of private enterprises do not die because they are timid, but because they are too bold."
"From a domestic perspective, the reform of state-owned enterprises is imminent. Although the international raw material prices have risen sharply in recent years and the currency has depreciated somewhat, the situation is still not optimistic. In terms of international finance, the Thai financial crisis has already occurred, the external environment is not good, and all things considered, an economic slowdown is a foregone conclusion."
"When the economy slows down, ordinary people at the bottom of society will be the first to feel it. In order to cope with the pessimistic future, they will cut back on food and clothing and increase their stockpiles. The consumer market will be sluggish, not growing. If there is no increase in the market but an increase in the quantity of goods, that is a big problem."
"The premise of market competition must be an incremental market. The more the two sides fight, the larger their territory becomes. Otherwise, it will be a situation where one side dies and the other is injured. Preserving more cash flow can help companies survive. As long as they survive, the market will be all yours."
Jiang Xiaoyan was getting a little annoyed by his words and said, "Even the poorest family doesn't use soap or laundry detergent?"
"Your family doesn't need that. Your dad got into a fight over a soapberry tree, have you forgotten? You were the one who told me that," Lu Feng said irritably.
“That was back in the 1980s, you don’t understand the cleaning industry!” Jiang Xiaoyan didn’t want him to say anything more.
Seeing her like this, Lu Feng didn't say much. The most terrifying people in this world are those who only have a superficial understanding. There's no use in trying to persuade them; they'll learn their lesson once they stumble and fall.
What is entrepreneurship?
Looking at Jiang Xiaoyan's excited expression, Lu Feng thought that for Jiang Xiaoyan at this moment, starting a business was like gambling, and she was obviously obsessed.
As their businesses grow larger, their workforce expands, and their business thrives, it's easy for startup founders to get carried away. It feels like watching their child grow up, or like a private empire bringing them power and glory.
Every entrepreneur who aspires to build a large enterprise is, without exception, a gambler. When things are going smoothly, they start fantasizing about doubling their profits in two years and increasing them a hundredfold in five years, wishing they could sell their products to penguins in Antarctica.
This is a process, a process that entrepreneurs in any era must go through!
Lu Feng had lunch at home, but before he could even go out for a stroll, he received a call from Du Guoying, who said that a board meeting was to be held.
"A board meeting call?" Lu Feng asked, somewhat puzzled. "Didn't they say what it was about?"
“Goodley said it was about management issues, but he didn’t say anything else. Oh, by the way, Mr. Lu, we’ve all moved to the new headquarters building, and the meeting will be held here as well,” Du Guoying said.
"I understand." Lu Feng hung up the phone, already knowing that John had finally decided to take the plunge.
At 2 p.m., Lu Feng drove to the new headquarters building. He looked at the busy moving trucks downstairs and occasionally some passing managers would greet him, but most of the managers acted as if they didn't see Lu Feng.
The new meeting room was exceptionally luxurious, with wooden floors throughout and a rather serious decor. Lu Feng, sitting in his seat, glanced at Goodley next to him and asked, "What kind of trouble is the board of directors causing now?"
