These days, various cities are obsessed with establishing industrial bases or bases, with people constantly talking about creating them. They're talking about pig farming bases, agricultural bases, and if VCDs could form an industrial base in a local area, that would be a huge achievement.
Suddenly, the city had an industry representative, especially since it was foreign-invested. It's understandable that the municipal government would attach importance to it. The problem is, Lu Feng didn't want VCD to be located here.
The new factory in Dongguan is fully capable of producing at the fastest speed.
Dealing with Jiang Wanmeng was easy, but dealing with the local municipal government was extremely difficult. For them, this was an achievement that was practically within their grasp, and they probably had already started writing their speeches, ready to write about it in detail, when Lu Feng intercepted it.
Lu Feng couldn't even imagine that scene; if it were him, he would be furious too.
"What did the city say?" Lu Feng inquired.
"The city is preparing to make a plan, saying it will create an industrial cluster, mainly based on VCDs, to build the first electronic cluster park in the country, starting from all aspects of optical discs, content, and industrial manufacturing!" General Manager Jiang sighed and said, "With such high expectations, to be honest, I also feel a lot of pressure."
Lu Feng's expression was not very good. He licked his lips. The local municipal government was determined to seize this opportunity. It was normal for them to think about it. VCD was the only independently innovated product in the domestic electronics field in the 1990s. It was such a rare flower. It would be a disservice not to build a garden for it.
"I'm in a really awkward position right now. The municipal government is calling me, and foreign investors are talking to me about the prospects. Brother, it's not that I don't want to cooperate with you," President Jiang said to Lu Feng, looking aggrieved.
"I know, I understand!" Lu Feng reached out and patted him, comforting him, "It's okay, as long as things go well, nothing else matters. I'm here to help you."
“I used to think that doing technical work was difficult, but now that I’m involved in business, I realize that doing business is the hardest thing. All sorts of forces are coming at me. You don’t know, my phone was ringing off the hook a while ago. All sorts of shady characters came to me, including scammers, shell companies, and even some municipalities. They called me, saying that if my business was located in their area, they would pay for my production.”
A look of helplessness appeared on President Jiang's face. He let out a long sigh; he had been through too much lately.
“The world is in chaos now. You’ve been in a high position for years and are out of touch with everyday life. Let me tell you, this is an era rife with scammers. You have to be extra careful when dealing with people. There are all sorts of tricks and scams out there. I sometimes fall for them myself.” Lu Feng looked at the setting sun outside and said, “Leave it to me, okay?”
"You've gone to so much trouble. To be honest, sometimes I feel you're too good to me, a little too good." President Jiang voiced his concerns.
“Brothers, we are all fine young people who serve our country. We were not born at the end of the war, otherwise we would be inseparable brothers who would fight side by side in the same trenches. This little thing is nothing. As long as it contributes to the electronics industry and helps companies grow, I, Lu Feng, will help out!”
Mr. Jiang became emotional. Before experiencing all this, he didn't think much of businessmen, believing that they were all shady and engaged in underhanded dealings. After going through this period, he finally understood how difficult it was to mediate.
Grabbing Lu Feng's hand, President Jiang said sincerely, "What a loyal and righteous brother!"
"Let's eat first. You've entrusted this matter entirely to me. Do you trust me?"
"Trustworthy, absolutely trustworthy, especially with such an outstanding talent as General Manager Feng, I'm sure we'll succeed immediately." General Manager Jiang looked at Feng Zhiyao excitedly.
Feng Zhiyao forced a smile, feeling uncomfortable all over. He secretly observed Lu Feng, who stood there with such natural grace. Just his acting skills alone were enough for him to learn.
We had dinner together that evening and chatted about the foreign team. It turns out that General Manager Jiang is not very capable now and is relying entirely on Lu Feng. The dinner was quite good.
After finishing lunch around 9:00, Lu Feng asked General Manager Jiang to inform the foreign investment team that the first round of negotiations would take place at 9:30 the next morning in the business conference room of this hotel.
After a satisfying meal, they returned to their room. Feng Zhiyao paced nervously back and forth in Lu Feng's room.
"What are you wandering around for?" Lu Feng leaned back on the sofa, pondering something.
"Have you ever conducted international business negotiations? Do you have experience in this area?" Feng Zhiyao asked.
Lu Feng shook his head. In both his lives, he had never talked to foreign teams, though he had met quite a few foreigners before.
"So how should we talk about it tomorrow?"
"Let's talk casually. I have the upper hand now. Let's push the price down. The investment amount remains the same, we want a ten-year patent license, and we want 70% of the company's equity," Lu Feng said casually.
"They definitely won't accept it."
“If you don’t accept it, then leave. Foreigners are easy to fool, but the key is the municipal affairs.” Lu Feng’s head ached just thinking about it, so he simply stopped thinking about it and said, “No matter how the talks go, just put my food in my bowl first.”
"Your food?" Feng Zhiyao asked curiously. "There's no profit to be made from this."
"Such a big project, isn't there any profit to be made?" Lu Feng said as he picked up the phone and called He Jiale.
"Even if there's profit to be made, wouldn't you wait until this side falls apart before taking over? Where's the profit now?" Feng Zhiyao was full of questions.
The call connected, and Lu Feng said with a grin, "Secretary He, are you asleep?"
"You called my office. How could I answer your call when I'm asleep? Mr. Lu, right?" The voice on the other end of the phone sounded tired and dull.
"Yes, thank you for your hard work," Lu Feng said politely.
"Your factory is progressing very quickly. I went to check it out the day before yesterday. Don't worry. As for the later payments, even if they are delayed for a few days, you will definitely get your share. Don't worry."
