Chapter 645 Human Absurdity

Lu Feng could only pretend not to know. Once she recovered and slowly became pregnant again, everything would be like a rainbow after the rain. Time is the best healer, but it was also a choice made out of necessity.

Jiang Xiaoyan sensed that something was off about him, but given her current state of mind, she couldn't make a judgment. She simply thought everything was going smoothly and brushed it off.

Everyone had their own worries and plans, lying on this bed, close together, but silent.

The next day, everything seemed to return to normal, just like before, but everyone could feel that they were no longer as comfortable in the house as before.

Lu Feng didn't go to work but stayed at home. He called Yang Yan and learned that Jin Feng Logistics was progressing exceptionally smoothly. They had already signed contracts with 80% of the logistics companies in the city, and the logistics points and transportation routes would be finalized within a week. They would be able to start shipping goods within a month.

Lu Feng only heard the gist of it. Yang Yan was quite professional in logistics, and he had his own understanding of platformization.

Jiang Xiaoyan spent the entire morning sitting on the sofa watching TV, but her mind was elsewhere. She kept glancing at Lu Feng, and whenever she saw him, she felt uneasy and extremely uncomfortable.

She felt as if she had committed an unforgivable mistake, keeping it hidden in her heart and daring not to reveal it to the public.

Aunt Liu and Zhou Ya could also clearly feel that the family was not as harmonious as before, and they were quietly cooking in the kitchen.

For a married couple, the most terrifying thing is when they sit together without saying a word, each thinking about something else entirely.

It's hard to fall in love, but when you both have things on your mind, it's not just hard, it's torture.

"Let's eat!" Zhou Ya said, placing a plate of food on the table.

Lu Feng glanced at Jiang Xiaoyan, whose eyes darted away, then stood up and said, "Let's eat!"

They didn't argue, but it was as if they had just experienced a devastating war and didn't know how to go back to the past. For a moment, they seemed speechless and unsure how to get along, appearing so awkward.

Sitting at the table, she just ate in silence. Lu Feng picked up a piece of food and put it in Jiang Xiaoyan's bowl, but she just ate silently. This meal was definitely the most boring one she had ever had since she became pregnant.

Since Jiang Xiaoyan became pregnant, her personality has become much more cheerful. She often tells Lu Feng jokes at the dinner table, and before the joke is even finished, she is already laughing so hard that she is showing her back teeth.

Her laughter echoed throughout the house, and she would sometimes chat and joke with others in the alley. Even when Xiuer spoke harshly, she never took it to heart.

But she didn't leave the gate all morning, not even glancing at the gourd she had planted herself in the garden, which was her favorite.

"Eat more, and take a nap later. The weather will be a bit cooler in the afternoon, so go out for a walk and buy some clothes or something," Lu Feng said to Jiang Xiaoyan.

"I don't want to go out, I'll just stay at home." Jiang Xiaoyan put down her chopsticks, stood up, and said, "You guys eat."

"What's wrong? Is that all you've eaten?" Lu Feng asked hurriedly.

"It's hot, I can't eat."

"What would you like to eat? I'll have Aunt Liu make it for you. She'll make you some soup, and you can have some when you wake up," Lu Feng said to Jiang Xiaoyan, who was going upstairs.

"No need, I can't eat anymore!" Jiang Xiaoyan said as she went back to her room.

Aunt Liu sighed and looked at Lu Feng, saying, "Mr. Lu, the hardest thing to cure is a heart ailment!"

"I'm at my wit's end too. Don't mention it. Don't let anything slip, or she'll feel even worse." Lu Feng gave a few instructions, then, unable to eat, he stood up and walked outside.

It was a sweltering day. Lu Feng stood at the gate, rolled up his short-sleeved shirt to reveal his belly, and patted it with his hand. He felt uncomfortable and suffocated in his chest.

There weren't many people in the alley. Lu Feng left the alley, bought a pack of cigarettes at the convenience store, and squatted down to smoke. As the afternoon approached and the weather cooled down, more people started to gather at the convenience store. People were playing cards, chess, and shouting all sorts of things. A thin playing card was hit on the ground with a particularly loud sound.

Excitement was written all over everyone's face; their happiness was so simple.

Lu Feng smoked half a pack of cigarettes, took a deep breath, and really wanted to yell a few times to vent all his frustration. In the end, he just stood up, went home, and drove to pick up Duo Duo.

Dinner was the same as usual. The air in the house was as oppressive as a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Even Duoduo was no longer as lively as before. Lu Feng tried his best to talk to her, chatting about everyday things, but the response he received was so cold.

A week passed in the blink of an eye, and it was already mid-September. This week, Jinfeng Logistics made rapid progress. Ever since Yang Yan learned that Lu Feng had "connections," he had become bolder. He wasn't timid; he was just afraid that after he did those things, no one would cover for him.

Zhang Fengxia has also been in a bad state lately. She feels that she shouldn't have gotten involved, and besides, this matter is really... really absurd to the extreme.

She called Jiang Xiaoyan several times, but Jiang Xiaoyan pleaded with her on the phone, and she could only agree, or perhaps deep down she wasn't really averse to it.

Jiang Xiaoyan seemed to be in a good mood over the weekend. She gave Aunt Liu and her daughter the day off and cooked a meal herself. Under the lamplight, her complexion looked much rosier.

Seeing that she was in a better mood, Lu Feng was happy too. Duo Duo sat there looking at the table full of dishes, her face full of smiles. Animated cartoons were playing on TV, and the family was enjoying each other's company, as if they had returned to the past.
