Lu Feng led the two men out of the police station. He glanced at the two men beside him; their expressions were quite different. Lu Feng could guess what they were thinking. Du Guoying was overjoyed, clearly feeling that she had gotten a free meal, while Kevin felt that he was of high status and that Lu Feng wanted to take the opportunity to curry favor with him.
"It's fate that the three of us met during the Chinese New Year. Let me briefly introduce myself." Lu Feng stopped, cleared his throat, and first put on his own posture before speaking: "My name is Lu Feng, and I am currently the chairman of Jiafeng Electronics Group."
Du Guoying stared at Lu Feng for a few moments. She was surprised that he was a CEO at such a young age. She quickly extended her hand and said, "Hello, hello! Look at what happened today. I will definitely be more careful when riding my motorcycle in the future."
"It's alright, it's all fate!" Lu Feng said with a smile.
Kevin was secretly surprised that Lu Feng was actually the CEO of a large company. His expression softened considerably, and he said, "It wasn't intentional. I also bear some responsibility. How about this, take the camera to get it repaired, and you can pay whatever the repair costs are."
"No need, no need! Let alone ten or twenty thousand, even thirty or fifty thousand is nothing." Lu Feng said to the two of them, "It's all about fate. Fate is worth a thousand pieces of gold. Let's go eat first."
Upon arriving at the car, Du Guoying found a place to store her motorcycle. Lu Feng drove straight to the Jianguo Hotel. On the way, Lu Feng asked Kevin in the passenger seat, "How long have you been in China?"
"I came here in the 80s, mainly to coordinate market issues in Asia and be in charge of international affairs." Kevin's words implied that he was not much worse than Lu Feng. Who doesn't have a bit of a competitive spirit?
Sitting in the back, Du Guoying didn't dare to speak. He felt like he had sputtered two big shots into a candied hawthorn skewer by pressing the accelerator.
“Your Chinese is quite good. We’ve been doing well internationally lately, but we make home appliances, electronics, and communications. Domestically, we provide solutions and help other companies. Internationally, we’re in talks with companies like Rohm Semiconductor, Sony, and Motorola.” Lu Feng sighed and said, “It’s not easy being a business these days. We’re mainly focusing on Asia and Africa right now!”
Du Guoying, sitting in the back, was somewhat dumbfounded. Kevin originally wanted to say that he was an international company, while Du was at most a local company, but he didn't expect Du to start talking about the African and Asian markets.
"I don't know much about electronics, but home appliances have lower unit prices, less technological content, and more market competition." Kevin sat in the passenger seat. As an 'automotive man,' he still had his own sense of superiority, believing that the automotive industry was a manifestation of heavy industry and looking down on other industries.
“That’s not quite right. Cars are simple. They’re just four wheels and a few sofas.” Lu Feng parked the car in front of the restaurant and said, “I’ve always felt that big things are easier to make, and smaller things are harder to make. As for Volkswagen, I personally don’t like them. We’re here, let’s get out and eat first.”
Kevin was extremely unhappy. He was an appliance manufacturer, so why did he say that Volkswagen was no good?
Lu Feng entered the hotel, requested a private room, sat down, and ordered dishes and drinks. Kevin sat there for a while before speaking, "Mr. Lu, I cannot agree with what you just said. We are a global company."
"No, no, no, it's not about global or anything like that. I'm just not optimistic about the future of the car market." Lu Feng leaned back, took out a cigarette from his pocket, and put it on the table. He said, "It's a big purchase, not like TVs or VCD players. Wealthy families replace them every year or two, and those who don't have much money replace them after a few years. They're not that expensive, so it's not a big deal to replace them. Just tell me, how much does a Jetta cost these days?"
“Jettas are expensive now, but Fukangs are cheap!” Du Guoying, sitting next to him, got excited. He obviously wanted to own a car too. After thinking for a moment, he said, “A Fukang can be bought for just over 150,000 yuan now.”
“If I remember correctly, a Jetta costs over 180,000, a Santana a little over 200,000, and the high-end models cost 240,000 to 250,000.” Lu Feng looked at him and asked, “How many people in the world do you think can afford that? Even if they could, how long would it take to keep a car?”
“I think Boss Lu is right. Buying a car is like getting married; it's a lifelong commitment.” Du Guoying was very supportive of Lu Feng’s statement.
Kevin didn't quite agree with Lu Feng's point of view, but he didn't know how to put it. In developed countries, car consumption is still quite substantial.
“Cars are good, of course they are, but the future development direction of cars is definitely not private cars!” Lu Feng said to Kevin, “Moreover, car companies will inevitably experience a wave of bankruptcies globally, and in the future, only a few companies will be left. What should be the focus of development? Transportation, still buses, subways, public transportation, etc., just like public telephones.”
Lu Feng's point of view is irrefutable. Currently, global car sales are mainly concentrated in developed countries, and the market in developed countries is nearing saturation.
The rapid development of public transportation is something many countries are now advocating for. If global economic growth is slow, then private cars will become a status symbol for the wealthy upper class.
Kevin couldn't refute Lu Feng's point of view, so he could only smile and say, "Who knows what the future holds?"
“This is foreseeable. I also think that your salary and scope of work will basically peak in the next few years. The automotive industry is different from electronics. We are now in an era of rapid development of electronics and the Internet.” Lu Feng glanced at Du Guoying and said, “It is the era of Intel. We are the company behind Intel.”
"Mr. Lu, let me toast you." Du Guoying raised her glass and said, "What you said has really broadened my horizons. You don't look that much older than me. The difference between people is too great."
