“There’s no real difference. Life choices are actually very important.” Lu Feng rested one hand on the back of his chair and said, “I’m twenty-seven this year. How about you?”
“I’m twenty-five!” Du Guoying replied.
“When I was your age, I had nothing either. I’m not bragging to you over a few drinks. When I went to my father-in-law’s house, the whole town laughed at me for being poor.” Lu Feng said to Du Guoying, “I found my direction, seized the opportunity, and guess what? I became rich overnight. In just a few years, I became a globally renowned figure.”
"Oh, I really envy you! When will I ever have such good luck?" Du Guoying's words were full of envy.
Kevin had spent many years during the Lunar New Year and was familiar with the situation at the dinner table. Lu Feng's attitude clearly indicated that he was the kind of person who liked to talk big.
And it's the kind of extravagant outfit!
"A globally renowned figure?" Kevin couldn't help but laugh. He'd been involved in the global trade system for most of his life, and he'd never heard of this person. He said, "How come I've never heard of him?"
“You’re too low-level, it’s not your fault!” Lu Feng said, looking at him.
Kevin's face turned green upon hearing this. Was he really that low-level?
“There’s a saying that men fear choosing the wrong career and women fear marrying the wrong man. Choices are extremely important.” Lu Feng said to Kevin, “If you continue to stay at Volkswagen, you’ll be ruined in less than five years.”
Kevin realized that Du Guoying was completely taken aback and felt he needed to help this naive young man. He said, "Anyone can talk a good game. The global automotive industry is a large system. As for whether it will develop towards private cars or public transportation, nobody knows. If you just talk nonsense, I could say I'm the president of Volkswagen. Young man, don't listen to one-sided stories."
Du Guoying felt slightly embarrassed upon hearing this. Even if Lu Feng was bragging, he had still treated everyone to dinner, so it wasn't appropriate to expose him like this.
"Your Chinese is really good." Lu Feng praised Kevin. "Whether you're exaggerating or not, I just feel it's fate that we met during the Chinese New Year. As for the automotive industry, it's just my thoughts on it. But I know quite a few people internationally, and if there's any need for cooperation, we can talk about it."
Du Guoying saw people talking about international and industry topics all the time, and he had been looking for a good job but couldn't find an opportunity to ask for it.
Kevin smiled and said, "We'll see, but I still want to thank Mr. Lu for his hospitality. This camera..."
"It's nothing, how could I not compensate you?" Lu Feng said, lighting a cigarette. "Tomorrow is Lunar New Year's Eve, do you two have a place to spend the holiday?"
"I haven't been here long, and I don't have any relatives or friends," Du Guoying said with a troubled expression. "I'll just have to live on my own!"
"And you?" Lu Feng asked Kevin.
Kevin just wanted to take some photos of traditional Chinese New Year activities. He would be flying abroad after the holiday to complete other work, but he also realized that the compensation for his camera wouldn't be so easy to get.
"Anything is fine!" Kevin said, shrugging.
"How about this, I'm spending the New Year alone too, why don't you all come to my house?" Lu Feng suggested to the two of them, "Tomorrow I'll buy some ground meat, and the three of us can make dumplings. Kevin, didn't you want to learn about traditional culture? I'm an expert on that, I'm the director of the Traditional Culture Association!"
Kevin saw that Du Guoying was already excited. He seemed to think that he had hooked up with a big boss. He didn't have anything to do anyway, and since he was idle, he thought that if Du Guoying was deceived, he could help him out.
"Let's exchange contact information and arrange to meet again tomorrow!" Lu Feng took out a business card from his pocket and handed it to the two of them, saying, "My office number is here, and so is my home number."
After paying the bill and leaving the restaurant, Lu Feng exchanged pleasantries with the two men before driving away. Du Guoying looked at the business card with great excitement. Before coming here, someone had told him that Shenzhen was full of opportunities, and he never expected that the opportunity would come so suddenly.
“Young man!” Kevin walked up to Du Guoying and said, “Don’t listen to everything he says. Shenzhen is a mixed bag; you’ll find all sorts of people. Don’t get scammed.” Kevin continued, “I’ve traveled internationally for many years and seen all kinds of people. This kind of guy is a typical conman!”
