Pete was already laughing as he stood to the side, and the surrounding crowd continued to laugh, clearly finding the situation quite amusing.
Through the crowd, Su Yourong saw Lu Feng standing in the middle, chatting with several big shots. After listening to the translator explain their conversation, Su Yourong's expression turned sour; she had clearly been dragged into this situation to embarrass herself.
"Could you call him over?" Su Yourong disliked Lu Feng's behavior, feeling that it was not only embarrassing for him but also for her own people.
The translator glanced at her with some difficulty; the people in the middle were not people that ordinary people could easily talk to.
"Thank you for the invitation, Jenny. No need for further words. Cheers." Lu Feng looked at them coldly, raised his champagne glass, clinked it with the three of them, and took a sip.
Jenny pulled his glass back a little, frowning slightly. He looked down on Lu Feng from the bottom of his heart; he was just a monkey to be played with and amused.
This person actually dares to think he can be on equal footing with me?
"I called you here to recreate that day's events, not to have you drink!" Jenny's face darkened as he glared at Lu Feng and shouted, "You should know who you are."
Pete watched as Jenny became enraged, his face full of displeasure. The others stared at Lu Feng with disdain. This banquet hadn't even started yet, and such a good show had already begun.
“Jenny, that’s enough, Mr. Lu…”
Chris was interrupted by Jenny: "You called him Mr. Lu? Him? Chris, you need to be mindful of your status. What's wrong with you today?"
“I just want to tell you that you need to respect everyone,” Chris said.
"Hahahaha!" Jenny laughed, then asked Lu Feng, "Do you need it? I think you need money more right now, don't you?"
Looking at Jenny's face, Lu Feng said, "You are the investment president of Bear Stearns, but in the end you are just working for the board of directors. My Jiafeng Group was founded by myself. If we're talking about status, my status is much higher than yours."
The audience burst into laughter; Lu Feng's identity was utterly ridiculous.
“Your Jiafeng Group is impressive, it’s a pity I’ve never heard of it. But I think your girlfriends are even more impressive. I’ve been curious about who they are ever since that day,” Jenny continued to tease.
"Okay, Jenny, let's not talk about it anymore," Chris advised from the side.
"What are you doing?" Jenny asked, somewhat annoyed. He couldn't understand why Chris, a nouveau riche from the East, was acting strangely, constantly reminding him not to offend this guy.
“Tell us about your ‘big company,’ you’ve never met such an impressive person before. Show us what you’ve got to see,” a Black man in the crowd jeered.
The atmosphere reached a climax, with laughter rising and falling, as if watching a stand-up comedy show.
Jiao Enfan had already noticed Lu Feng when he walked over. When Lu Feng was being teased by several big shots, he knew his chance had come.
Before Lu Feng could speak, Jiao Enfan stepped forward and said, "Who was I back then? It turns out to be the infamous President Lu! I know this guy. What? Couldn't make it in China, so you ran off to the US?"
Jiao Enfan stepped forward and addressed the three men, saying, "I am Henry Jiao, the executive vice president of Liberty Mutual Insurance. I know this man. The Jiafeng Group he mentioned is just a small television manufacturing company in China. As for the claim that he has many powerful girlfriends, that's utter nonsense. He couldn't even keep his own wife; they got divorced!"
These words directly exposed Lu Feng's true colors, drawing boos from the audience as if they had heard some major gossip.
After Jiao Enfan finished speaking, he stared at Lu Feng with a provocative look, as if to say, "Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river, you'll be in this situation too."
“I think we should respect everyone!” Chris didn’t want to anger Lu Feng, so he stepped forward and said, “Although I haven’t known Mr. Lu for long, I think he is very sincere and he is a good friend of mine. I don’t agree with this kind of gathering to dig up his past.”
These words stunned not only Jenny and Pete, but everyone in the room, who couldn't understand why Chris would speak up for such a person.
"Are you kidding me? Do you know what you're saying? Do you know who you are?" Jenny stared at Chris with a look of astonishment.
