As night falls, the lives of the wealthy are just beginning.
The people at the banquet were dressed fashionably, their attire suggesting wealth and status; one woman's necklace alone might be priceless.
Lu Feng went downstairs and looked at the scene of people moving around. He called over a waiter and got a glass of champagne. Jennifer stood to the side, looking around and searching for Kelly.
Wang Yuanhe and the other two seemed a little uncomfortable in this situation, standing blankly beside Lu Feng.
"What are you doing standing here?" Lu Feng said to the three of them. "Eat whatever you want, it's not like we're paying for it."
"We dare not!" An Jiahui said timidly.
“These damn bastards, with so many people, do they all know each other? Just grab a wine glass and blend into the crowd, who’s going to know who you are?” Lu Feng said to the group, “Go on, you three international tycoons!”
Wang Yuanhe mustered his courage and said to the two of them, "Let's practice our spoken English," before walking into the crowd.
When Kelly saw Jennifer, she walked over. She was wearing a black off-the-shoulder evening gown and looked quite dashing. She looked Lu Feng up and down and said, "You look great tonight."
"You're beautiful too!" Lu Feng complimented, then said to Kelly, "I must say, Jennifer is a very good helper."
"Really? It seems you two got along very well." Kelly picked up her wine glass, clinked it slightly with Lu Feng's, and continued, "Mr. Lu, we have done everything we could. We still hope you will return as soon as possible. I believe you have greater opportunities for development in China. As long as the cooperation is pleasant, we can provide you with more conveniences."
"Don't worry, the financing here is almost done, I'll be back in China right away," Lu Feng said, taking a sip of his drink.
"Mr. Lu, I wonder if your company has any contact with government agencies in other countries?" Kelly asked directly.
"Of course, there are collaborations, such as with some research institutes and state-owned enterprises. I used some connections and methods, and at the end of last year, the company won the title of National Outstanding Private Enterprise," Lu Feng said proudly.
Hearing this, Kelly felt incredibly relieved. Lu Feng's identity made him an excellent candidate for the job, as he could not only meet many different people but also avoid arousing suspicion.
"I'll go over there first, you guys can do whatever you want." Kelly raised her glass to Lu Feng and walked to the side.
"OK!"
Chris has a wide network of connections, and people kept coming to say hello. Jenny strode over and said to Chris, "We meet again, Chris. There's a big surprise for you tonight, it'll be really fun."
"Hahaha, really? You've always been like this, always stirring things up." Chris introduced the people next to him to Jenny.
Before leaving, Su Yourong called Lu Feng's room, but no one answered. She asked the hotel reception and found out that he had gone out in the afternoon. After waiting for more than ten minutes and still not being able to reach him, she simply gave up waiting.
Tonight, Su Yourong wore a long dress and looked exceptionally elegant. Her smoky makeup was also exquisite. As she entered the venue, she greeted several people with a glass of champagne in hand, with a translator standing beside her.
Jiao Enfan kept an eye on his surroundings. Tonight was Morgan's dinner party, and the guests included not only social celebrities but also many relatives of high-ranking officials. These relatives were the people he wanted to get close to.
After all, if you want to make it on Wall Street, how can you possibly succeed without getting involved in some legitimate business?
Peter, the global CEO of Morgan Stanley, appeared at the scene. He was a white man in his sixties with thinning hair, chatting with Jenny and Chris.
A crowd of people surrounded them, laughing knowingly, and the place instantly became the focus of attention, with everyone turning to look in their direction.
"Tonight's dinner party was absolutely fantastic, Pete. Did the guy I called you to invite arrive? He definitely has the potential to be a clown actor," Jenny said excitedly, glancing around.
"You mean Mr. Lu?" Chris turned around and glanced at where Lu Feng was, and said, "He arrived this afternoon, over there."
"Hey! Mr. gigolo!" Jenny shouted towards Lu Feng, "Hurry up and come over here. If it weren't for me, how would he be here? If he behaves like he did the other night, I think we should give him a tip."
Everyone turned to look in Lu Feng's direction, and stepped aside to make way for him. Lu Feng, holding a glass of champagne, stood at the end of this newly cleared path.
"Wow, you really came! Come over here!" Jenny waved to Lu Feng.
Seeing his reaction, Lu Feng sneered and walked over under the watchful eyes of the crowd. Some of the people present even felt a bit envious of him, thinking that he was just a clown and had no right to stand with such big shots.
“You should thank me. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t be here today. At the banquet at Merrill Lynch the day before yesterday, he stepped up at the last minute and made everyone very happy.” Jenny said to Lu Feng, “There are even more people today, so I’ll give you room to perform.”
Pete glanced at Lu Feng with a rather mocking expression and said, "Jenny, even at his age, still likes to cause trouble."
Chris noticed that Lu Feng looked unhappy, and that Jenny seemed to want to tease him a bit more, so he quickly said, "Since Mr. Lu has been invited, he should be a guest. Let's not do anything else."
“We invited him here to put on a show. Besides, he’s just a nouveau riche.” Jenny patted Lu Feng on the shoulder and instructed, “You said that you were a kept man the other day. Do it again. As long as your girlfriend is unhappy, World War III will begin. I like the way you brag without thinking.”
