Chapter 4 Ask the teacher to apologize

The incident of broken tiles on the corridor railing at Feng Haidong's son's school.

Ultimately, under Principal Wang's impartial leadership, it was determined that the responsibility did not lie with Feng Qifan and his two classmates.

Furthermore, because Feng Haidong was present, Principal Wang also expressed his apologies on behalf of the school to Feng Haidong and the other two parents who were present.

"Parents of the three students, I am truly sorry about what happened today. There may indeed be some minor flaws in the construction quality of our school. I will hold them accountable later. The three students do not need to compensate for the tiles; the school will arrange for workers to repair them."

Finally, Principal Wang gave Feng Haidong a deep look, forcing a smile on his face.

"I apologize for taking up the time of three parents today. I especially want to thank Feng Qifan's father for taking the initiative to contact me and let me know that there may be problems with the quality of the school's renovation construction."

We hope that parents will continue to provide feedback to our school in the future.

Principal Wang's subsequent statement, asking parents to offer more feedback, was clearly a polite remark.

The parents of the other two students also expressed their satisfaction with all aspects of the school.

But Feng Haidong naturally wouldn't be polite to Principal Wang at all.

“Principal Wang, since you’ve said we should give you more feedback, then I won’t stand on ceremony.”

Hearing Feng Haidong bluntly offer his opinions, Principal Wang felt a pang of anxiety.

Feng Haidong continued, "I am not a very good father. I was too busy with work in the past, so I neglected to care for my child. My child is already in the third grade, and this is the first time I have come to the school and met my child's homeroom teacher. This is my oversight."

Everyone was a little surprised when they heard Feng Haidong's words.

I don't understand what this student's parent meant by this.

Feng Qifan stood aside watching his father. After hearing his father's words, his impression of his father changed somewhat.

After saying this with a guilty look, Feng Haidong changed the subject and said, "Today I came to school and met my homeroom teacher, Ms. Yan. To be honest, it was quite an eye-opener for me. I believe that Principal Wang and all the teachers should know that a good teacher's professional ethics are very important."

Upon hearing Feng Haidong mention teacher ethics, Principal Wang's expression changed, and he frowned slightly as he looked at Teacher Yan.

The other teachers looked at each other for a moment, and then they all looked at Teacher Yan.

Feng Haidong's words were quite clear, directly pointing to a problem with Teacher Yan's professional ethics.

Teacher Yan's face also turned very pale. If the principal hadn't been there, he might have really lost his temper.

Knowing that Principal Wang was present, Feng Haidong knew that Teacher Yan couldn't directly lash out, so he didn't hold back and continued speaking.

"Teacher Yan, as the children's homeroom teacher, after the accidental falling of tiles in the school building corridor, your first action was not to ask if any students were injured by the falling tiles, nor did you seriously investigate and listen to the students' accounts of the incident."

Instead, they immediately assumed that the three children were responsible for the falling tiles, and even without being able to identify who it was, they made the three children split the cost of repairing the tiles.

Principal Wang, you're here too. I'd like to ask you, the teachers, and the parents, is this how a teacher, a homeroom teacher, handles things?

Feng Haidong's words left everyone speechless.

Even Teacher Yan, who was holding back her anger and looking unconvinced, felt that she couldn't argue with him.

Seeing that everyone was silent, Feng Haidong continued, "As a teacher, especially a homeroom teacher, is it acceptable to draw conclusions about your students without listening to their accounts?"

Feng Haidong stared at Teacher Yan and said, "As far as I know, Teacher Yan, you haven't even investigated this matter."

At this point, Teacher Yan finally couldn't take it anymore.

"Feng Qifan's father, what do you mean by that? Are you saying that as a homeroom teacher, I can arbitrarily wrongly accuse my own students?"

Feng Haidong said without backing down, "Doesn't Teacher Yan know whether he's been wronged or not?"

When Principal Wang saw Teacher Yan start arguing with Feng Haidong, she was genuinely startled and wanted to remind Teacher Yan not to argue so casually.

However, before Principal Wang could even remind her, Teacher Yan had already gotten carried away.

"Since you put it that way, Mr. Feng Qifan, I really want to ask Feng Qifan and the other two, did I ask them who broke the tiles?"

When Teacher Yan asked this question, the three children naturally nodded obediently.

Feng Haidong laughed and said, "Teacher Yan, if you ask them this, can I suspect that they didn't dare to tell the truth because you intimidated them?"

Teacher Yan immediately retorted, "How can you, as a parent, talk nonsense?"

Feng Haidong, unfazed, said, "Whether I'm lying or not, we can easily prove it. Your class is in session right now, isn't it? We can just go to the class and ask the other students, and we'll know for sure."

Teacher Yan was already quite angry with Feng Haidong, so she immediately said, "Fine, go ask the other students in the class."

As a result, the group, including Principal Wang, went to Feng Qifan's third-grade class, Class 2.

The teachers and students who were in class were all quite surprised to see the principal arrive.

Then they saw the unfamiliar Feng Haidong walk onto the podium.

Feng Haidong stood on the podium, smiling, and asked his students, "Students, don't be nervous. Principal Wang is here to find out about the fallen tiles on the corridor railing."
