Feng Haidong and his wife took their daughter back to his parents-in-law's house.
Lu Wanling suddenly said, "Oh right, my brother will be out of school soon, Dad should go pick him up."
While teasing his daughter, Feng Haidong said, "Your brother is a big boy now, he can come home by himself after school."
Lu Wanling said, "Don't favor one over the other, or your son will definitely have a problem with it."
Seeing his wife say this, Feng Haidong had no choice but to nod and agree: "Okay, I'll go pick up our son from school."
As he spoke, Feng Haidong pushed his bicycle out of his father-in-law and mother-in-law's backyard.
After leaving home, Feng Haidong rode his bicycle and headed towards his son's school.
Because he was worried about missing his son who had already finished school, Feng Haidong walked to school along the same route his son took after school.
Sure enough, at the intersection just before the school, Feng Haidong saw his son and Yang Ruoxi holding hands as they crossed the road.
Feng Haidong stopped at the intersection and waited for his son and Yang Ruoxi to come over before calling out with a smile, "Feng Qifan, Yang Ruoxi, you're out of school?"
Upon hearing the sound, Feng Qifan and Yang Ruoxi looked over in the direction of the sound.
Soon, they saw Feng Haidong standing by the roadside.
Feng Qifan and Yang Ruoxi immediately ran over together.
"Dad, you're back."
"Hello, Uncle Feng."
Feng Haidong said with a smile, "Your uncle and I just got back. Come on, get in the car, I'll take you back."
Feng Qifan was naturally very happy: "Great, we don't need to go anymore."
Then Feng Haidong picked up Yang Ruoxi and sat her on the crossbar of the bicycle in front of him, and then let his son sit in the back. He then rode the bicycle back home.
On the way, Feng Haidong inquired about the two children's recent performance at school.
Yang Ruoxi said from the front, "Uncle Feng, Fanfan's essay has been published on the school bulletin board again. He's really amazing."
Feng Haidong said with a smile, "If you go on it too often, you won't be good at it. Xixi, have you asked Brother Fanfan for help with writing your essay?"
Yang Ruoxi said, "I asked for advice, but Brother Fanfan said I'm rather slow."
Upon hearing this, Feng Haidong said, "Fanfan, that's not right. How can you call your sister stupid when you're the older brother?"
Sitting on the back of the bicycle, Feng Qifan quickly explained, "I didn't say Xixi is stupid. What I meant was that Xixi shouldn't always ask me questions. She should read more books herself, memorize good words and phrases, and understand more idioms. The teacher really likes it when we use idioms."
Feng Haidong listened and said, "Brother Fanfan is right. When you write compositions, your teacher likes you to use some idioms. Using idioms correctly shows that your vocabulary is rich enough. The key is to use idioms correctly. You can't just use them randomly or force them into your writing."
Feng Qifan then said from the back row, "Xixi, you don't always have to imitate my compositions. You should write according to your own ideas and apply what you've learned in a flexible way."
Feng Haidong said with a smile, "Fanfan, what you said is not right either. Xixi is still young, and their compositions are relatively simple. So at this stage, she does need to start by imitating. I think most of Xixi's compositions are about describing pictures, right? That is actually imitation."
Yang Ruoxi turned her head and asked, "Uncle Feng, can I imitate Brother Fanfan's essay writing?"
Feng Haidong said, "Actually, your brother Fanfan's essay was posted on the bulletin board by the school teachers as a model for you to read, so that you can imitate it appropriately. So it's definitely okay for you to imitate it first."
With Feng Haidong's support, Yang Ruoxi naturally smiled and said to the person in the back row, "Brother Fanfan, look, even Uncle Feng supports me!"
Feng Qifan was a little unhappy: "Dad, don't let her imitate me."
Feng Haidong added, "Xixi can imitate, but she can't copy verbatim, understand?"
Yang Ruoxi nodded earnestly and said, "Uncle Feng, I know."
Feng Haidong then said to his son, "Fanfan, you should help your sister more. When I saw you helping your sister cross the road, I was really happy. At that moment, I felt that you had really grown up and were like a big brother."
Upon hearing his father say this, Feng Qifan immediately asked, "Really? Dad, did you see me holding Xixi's hand as we crossed the road?"
Feng Haidong said, "Yes, Dad thinks the way you hold your sister's hand to cross the street makes you look like a little man."
Feng Qifan became excited in the back row after receiving praise from his father.
"Dad, I know. I will help Xixi more in the future."
Feng Haidong said, "That's right. You should make progress together and study hard together."
Riding his bicycle, Feng Haidong picked up the two children and went straight back to the restaurant.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Yang Chengjian was surprised to see Feng Haidong riding a bicycle back with two children.
"Brother Feng, you're back?"
Feng Haidong laughed and said, "Yes, I just got back this afternoon. Then your sister-in-law came home from get off work and asked me to pick up the two kids, so I rode my bicycle to pick them up."
Yang Chengjian lifted his daughter off the bicycle: "Brother Feng, you just got back and went to pick them up. You've really gone to a lot of trouble."
Feng Haidong said with a smile, "It wasn't tiring at all. I picked up these two kids and listened to them chat with me along the way. It was the most relaxing and happiest day I've had in a while."
Yang Chengjian quickly asked, "Brother Feng, are things not going well for you in the provincial capital?"
Feng Haidong noticed Yang Chengjian's worry and said with a smile, "No, it's just quite tiring. I have to take care of the shop in the provincial capital and also help my senior brother's decoration team in the factory to get jobs and do decoration work. So running back and forth is quite tiring. This is the end of the work, so I'm coming back to rest."
Yang Chengjian said, "That was indeed quite tiring. Brother Feng, you should rest well for a few days after you come back."
