Chapter 123 The Giant Coconut Snail

Although they didn't look very appealing, they were very fresh and delicious, and everyone ate them with great relish.

After lunch, Ye Qingling took Feng Ye to the place where she stored her goods.

On a rock were four full snakeskin bags, and two more that were not full.

"Wow, you've picked up so much stuff! You must be exhausted!" Feng Ye said with a smile.

"It was indeed quite tiring, but after picking up so much merchandise, it was all worth it."

Ye Qingling smiled and smoothed her hair, which had been ruffled by the sea breeze.

What kinds of things are there?

"The main ones are mussels and oysters, these two are the most abundant. There are also oyster snails, whelks, scallops, clams, and Buddha's hand citrons, but unfortunately, there were no goose barnacles among the Buddha's hand citrons we dug up."

As Ye Qingling spoke, she untied the opening of the snakeskin bag so that Feng Ye could see it.

“Goose barnacles usually grow on cliffs where the waves can crash against them. This island is too flat, so it’s not normal that they don’t grow there.”

Feng Ye inspected each of the snakeskin bags.

The large quantities of mussels and oysters were separated and packed into two bags each.

The cowrie shells were also packed in a separate snakeskin bag, but there were far fewer shells, less than half full.

Another burlap sack was filled with various snails and shellfish, about half full.

"Ah Ye, can you help me take a look? What kind of snail is this? It's huge."

Ye Qingling lifted the snakeskin bag covering the bucket and pointed to the enormous conch shell inside.

Feng Ye casually leaned over to take a look, but was shocked: "Coconut snail? It's so big! It must weigh seven or eight pounds!"

The conch shells in the bucket were larger than I had imagined, almost filling the bottom of the bucket.

This coconut snail is yellowish-brown overall, with black spots surrounding its shell.

"Coconut snail, so that's what it's called." Ye Qingling's eyes lit up. "This snail is so big, is it very valuable?"

"Whether it's valuable or not is hard to say; it depends on whether there's any treasure inside. If there's no treasure, it's worthless, and you might as well sell it directly for a little money; but if there is treasure, you'll make a fortune."

Ye Qingling was completely bewildered: "What do you mean? There's treasure inside this snail?"

"You know what pearls are, right?"

"I know, they're inside freshwater clams. I've even opened one up before."

"The pearls inside river mussels are freshwater pearls, and there are also pearls in the sea, which are produced by marine mollusks."

"You mean there's a pearl inside this snail?"

Upon hearing this, Ye Qingling immediately became excited.

"It's possible, there's a small chance you can get one. The ones that come out of coconut snails are called Melo Pearls."

"Are Melo pearls really that valuable? The pearls I used to get from freshwater mussels weren't worth much at all."

"The exact price depends on the quality. High-quality Melo pearls can easily sell for several thousand or even tens of thousands of yuan."

"It's worth that much?" Ye Qingling's eyes widened. "Then hurry up and drive it out so we can see it."

"If you don't need the shell, you can just break it open. But if you want to keep the shell intact, you'll have to go home; we don't have the right tools here."

"Well... let's drive it from home."

Although Ye Qingling was itching to know if there was any treasure inside, she decided against it after thinking about it.

After all, the shell of this coconut snail is quite pretty, so keeping it wouldn't be a bad idea.
