After another hour or so, Ah-Can finally stopped the boat.
The machine wasn't turned off; it was still roaring.
Feng Ye and A-Can went to the stern deck together and pulled the trawl net back.
As for Feng Xuan, neither of them suggested waking him; they wanted him to continue sleeping.
As the trawl net was gradually pulled in, the net bag slowly emerged from the water, and the fish inside began to appear.
Various colorful fish are in the net bag. The fish at the bottom are pressed down and cannot move, while the fish at the top are struggling fiercely, looking very energetic.
"So many fish."
Feng Xuan looked at the fish in the net and exclaimed excitedly.
Feng Ye nodded with a smile, "Not bad, this was quite a haul."
They quickly hoisted the net onto the boat and untied the knots to let the fish pour out of the net.
The types of fish caught in this net are similar to those caught by longline fishing, and the variety is quite diverse.
However, the majority of them are toadfish and barracuda, and they are all quite large, with some barracuda weighing over ten kilograms.
Besides the common fish, shrimp, and crabs, what really caught the eye was the catch of seven or eight small green lobsters.
"Brother Ye, look how big this little green dragon is! It weighs about seven or eight ounces."
Ah-Can held a small green dragon in his hand, his face beaming with joy.
Feng Ye glanced at it and laughed, "A small green dragon usually weighs around four ounces, so it's really not easy for it to grow to this size."
As he spoke, he tidied up the trawl net, saying that sorting wasn't urgent, and that putting the net down and continuing to trawle was the important thing.
After a day at sea, you can't actually haul in many nets.
If they set off at 3 a.m., it would take them about two hours to get to this area, and another two hours to reel in their longline fishing, so four hours would have passed.
It takes two or three hours to haul one net, and by the time we return in the afternoon, we can only haul four nets at most. There's no time to haul even one more net.
Unless they go back in the dark, or reduce the time the trawl net spends in the sea.
Therefore, every net needs to be cast quickly and not wasted.
Ah-Can tossed the little green dragon into the basket and helped tidy it up.
The two quickly finished preparing the trawl net.
"This time we're hauling it to Crescent Island. Once we get there, we can haul in the nets and go eat. We won't have to empty the nets, which will save us some diesel."
"We can also ask them to help us sort the goods, so we can have more time to rest."
Feng Ye nodded in agreement, saying, "Indeed, there are more people over there, so the sorting is faster."
"Then I'll go set sail."
Ah-Can smiled and went to the wheelhouse to start the boat.
After Ah-Can adjusted the course by turning the rudder, Feng Ye lowered the trawl net.
The trawl net cut a long trail in the sea, creating ripples on the surface.
After watching the trawl net successfully set into the sea, Feng Ye began to sort the fish into different baskets.
Not long after the sorting began, Feng Xuan woke up and went to the stern deck.
"You've all gotten yourselves into this mess, why didn't you wake me up?"
"If the two of you can manage, then you can sleep a little longer."
Looking at the fish, shrimp, and crabs piled on the deck, Feng Xuan exclaimed happily, "This net even caught a small lobster! Not bad at all!"
"It's a pity there weren't enough, just a few."
"It's good enough if the trawl net can catch anything. If you want to catch a lot of these, you still have to use shrimp traps."
Shrimp traps are actually a type of ground trap, and the size of the mesh varies depending on the species of shrimp being caught.
“Actually, you don’t need a special shrimp trap; you can just use a ground trap,” Feng Ye said. “When we go back, we can collect a few ground traps and bring them here tomorrow to see if we can catch a few more.”
"This method is good..."
The two chatted as they worked, and soon finished sorting the catch on the deck. They then carried it into the cabin to avoid leaving it on the deck to be exposed to the sun.
The next net was pulled up just before it reached Crescent Island.
It wasn't much different from the previous net, except that this net didn't catch a small green dragon.
As soon as the ship docked at Crescent Island, the people on the island climbed aboard one after another.
"You've come at the right time, come and help us quickly."
Feng Ye waved to the people who had just boarded the ship.
"You're really not being polite. Let me see what good stuff you've gotten your hands on?"
Even so, Xiao Guowen still excitedly ran over when he saw a large pile of fish on the stern deck.
"Not bad, this haul is pretty good, it's just a pity there weren't any big or rare items."
He felt a mixture of envy and regret.
“Who said we didn’t? We caught nine small green dragons in one net, the biggest of which weighed almost eight ounces.” Ah Can said with a smug look on his face.
Upon hearing this, everyone's eyes lit up immediately.
"Where is it? In the cabin? I'll go check."
"Yes, the cargo in front is all in the hold."
Having received an affirmative answer, everyone swarmed back into the cabin.
"They really are little green dragons, and they're quite big and plump."
Xiao Guowen picked one up and looked at it.
Everyone crowded around to take a look at the catch from the trawl.
Ye Qingling, Du Guilan, and A-Can's mother all had smiles on their faces, very satisfied with their harvest.
After watching for a while, Ah-Can's mother and Du Guilan took some shrimp, crabs and fish to Crescent Island to cook.
The others stayed on the ship to sort the cargo.
With more people, the sorting speed is faster; it only takes about twenty minutes.
After tidying up the deck, everyone went to the island for dinner.
The meals were all brought from home and had been heated up, while the side dish was a large seafood stew.
This pot contains octopus, stone crab, prawns, swimming crab, mantis shrimp, mussels, oysters, mackerel, black sea bream...
