We sped along for almost three hours before the town's dock came into view in the distance.
To Feng Ye's surprise, as they approached the dock, they saw two people fishing on the dock.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be an old acquaintance.
It turned out to be Fang Yi and Wang Teng.
That's perfect, it saves him a trip and he doesn't have to go to the police station.
He immediately steered his boat straight towards it.
Seeing an unfamiliar ship sailing towards them, Fang Yi and Wang Teng both looked grim.
There were plenty of empty spots on the dock, yet they insisted on stopping at their fishing spot, which infuriated them.
Even though they weren't wearing police uniforms or community defense team uniforms, they still didn't bully people like this.
"Ah Yi, when this ship comes close, we have to teach them a lesson, otherwise they'll think we're easy to bully."
Wang Teng, furious yet helpless, put away his fishing rod.
If such a big ship comes by, the fish will definitely be scared away, and there's no point in fishing for them.
"Definitely. If you don't give me a satisfactory explanation, I'll take you back and handcuff you for a day."
Fang Yi also put away his fishing rod, his eyes practically spitting fire.
Feng Ye was naturally unaware of all this; he was calmly navigating his boat to shore.
Just as he had brought the boat to a safe stop and before he could even turn off the engine, he saw Fang Yi and Wang Teng jump aboard menacingly.
He was stunned for a moment, but quickly realized what was going on; he must have disturbed their fishing time.
He quickly turned off the engine, stepped out of the driver's seat, and greeted her with a smile.
"Hey, look at you two, all so angry. What's wrong? Came here to cause me trouble?"
"Holy crap, Ah Ye, it's you?"
Fang Yi's eyes widened, looking quite surprised.
Wang Teng was no exception; he never expected that the person on the boat was Feng Ye.
He scratched his head and said awkwardly, "Oh, it's you. We thought some clueless person was disturbing our fishing."
Feng Ye laughed heartily and said, "Why can't it be me?"
"You've struck it rich, and bought a bigger ship?"
Fang Yi looked at the ship and asked curiously.
"No, Ah-chan is sailing my boat."
Feng Ye pointed behind him, "Look, it's still in the back."
Only then did the two notice that a familiar ship was slowly approaching from several hundred meters away.
"Then what about this boat? Was it borrowed?"
Fang Yi patted the hull of the boat and asked curiously.
"Didn't you notice the markings on the bow? Or do you really not recognize where this ship is from?"
Wang Teng recalled: "It seems the markings on the bow of the ship were red?"
Feng Ye nodded: "Yes, blood red."
Is there any explanation for this?
Fang Yi became even more curious.
Wang Teng thought for a moment and said, "I seem to remember that the only ships marked in red are those from Longtail Island."
"Longtail Island? What kind of place is that?"
“A place full of evil, under the jurisdiction of the neighboring Yanshan County.”
Wang Teng frowned and said to Feng Ye, "What's going on with this ship? Could it really be a ship from Longtail Island?"
"It really is a ship from Nagao Island."
"How did it end up in your hands? You didn't start hanging out with those guys, did you?"
"Damn it, what are you thinking? How could I possibly associate with those pirates?"
Feng Ye glared at Wang Teng and continued, "This is a long story, it all started a few days ago..."
He kept it brief, briefly explaining the origins of the ship and the group of people digging for treasure on the island.
After hearing his story, Fang Yi exclaimed in surprise, "Holy crap, you stole this ship?"
"How can you talk like that? Can you call this robbery?"
Feng Ye rolled his eyes. "We're doing this to rid the people of a scourge and uphold justice, okay?"
Fang Yi chuckled mockingly, "Come on, it's only because there are people on the boat that you can't do anything about it. If there were no one on the boat, you would have secretly taken it for yourself, right?"
"Tch, that's a really harsh way to put it. If there was no one around, wouldn't I have just picked it up? Picked it up, you know? Picked up a deserted island with no one around?"
Having spent time with the two of them a few times, and having become friends with them, Feng Ye wasn't afraid of them knowing his true thoughts.
Besides, compared to the benefits that the next big case could bring to the police station, his and A-Can's actions, although not entirely aboveboard, were still commendable.
"You really know how to argue."
Fang Yi couldn't help but shake his head.
Wang Teng chimed in, "I'm truly impressed by your mouth; you can make the dead sound alive."
"You flatter me, you flatter me."
"You're getting cocky now. You should really be arrested and locked up for a few days."
"You're ruthless. Everyone says you have to discard the bridge after crossing the river, but you haven't even crossed the river yet, and you're already going to discard the bridge?"
Feng Ye feigned grievance and stretched out his hand, "Fine, handcuff me then."
"Come on, you're really putting on an act."
Fang Yi slapped away Feng Ye's outstretched hand and continued, "But seriously, don't do this kind of thing again, it's illegal."
"Do you think I'm stupid? Of course I wouldn't take over an ordinary person's boat; that's the fishermen's livelihood. I only dared to make a move because I knew it was a boat from Longtail Island."
"I keep hearing you guys mention Nagao Island. Are the people there really that awful?"
"To put it simply, every single one of them who goes to sea is innocent; they are all guilty of numerous crimes."
Wang Teng also said, "I've heard about it too. It's said that whenever they encounter another ship at sea, they chase after it and plunder it, taking everything they can carry. Many people in our town have suffered as a result."
Fang Yi frowned: "Why is nobody doing anything about it?"
"How can we regulate this? The robberies all happen at sea. Without evidence or witnesses, how can we convict someone based solely on the victim's statement?"
Wang Teng sighed and continued, "And not many victims will come to the station to report the case."
"Those with many relatives and friends gathered their own people and went to attack Longtail Island."
"Those who can't get help have no choice but to swallow their anger and accept their bad luck."
"After all, who among those who make a living at sea hasn't encountered various hardships and misfortunes?"
"Some time ago, in Lujia Village on Baishi Island, a victim gathered a large group of people and wanted to attack them."
"We received the news and rushed to stop it, otherwise who knows what kind of trouble it would have caused."
Fang Yi scratched his head in confusion: "Is that so? How come I didn't know about it?"
“You were on leave at that time and weren’t at the institute.”
Feng Ye asked, "I've heard about this too. Did you manage to catch the person in the end?"
"No."
Wang Teng shook his head. "It's the same thing I said: without evidence and witnesses, and if the other party refuses to admit it no matter what, what can we do but let it go?"
Upon hearing this, Feng Ye thought to himself, "Just as I suspected."
Fang Yi said indignantly, "Damn, isn't this too easy on them?"
