The three ships found a spot and slowly approached the shore one by one.
The boatmen also got busy, unloading baskets of fish and shrimp from the fish hold, placing them neatly on the dock, waiting for a tractor to be found so they could be transported to the market.
At this time, the dock was piled with all kinds of seafood, and the air was filled with a fishy smell.
Although they had a lot of goods, they didn't attract much attention.
However, when the great white shark was lifted out of the fish hold by the crane, it instantly attracted the attention of the surrounding crowd, who all focused on the enormous creature.
People were amazed and gathered around to watch the spectacle, with discussions rising and falling.
"What a huge great white shark! It's a rare sight to see such a large one."
"What a pity, it's a great white shark. It would be much more valuable if it were any other species."
"Yeah, great white sharks aren't worth much, it's a waste of such a big size."
"What a pity, what a real pity. We can only see something unusual..."
The boatmen paid no attention to the gossip and focused only on their work, continuing to unload the fish and shrimp.
The great white shark was a gift from the orcas, who thoughtfully delivered it directly to the boat without any effort on their part; it was purely accidental.
Feng Ye was about to disembark to find a tractor to haul the goods when a middle-aged man stopped him.
The man, all smiles, asked in a low voice, "Who is the captain of your boat?"
It's no wonder people didn't recognize his talent; Feng Ye was simply too young, and those unfamiliar with him would never guess he was the boat captain.
Feng Ye smiled and pointed to himself: "That's me. What do you need me for?"
A hint of surprise flashed in the middle-aged man's eyes: "I didn't expect you to be a boat captain at such a young age. Truly, heroes emerge from among the young!"
"You flatter me."
Feng Ye smiled politely, "Just say what you need. I'm very busy; I need to find a tractor to haul the goods."
"Why are you looking for tractors? Just sell them all to me. This is what I do."
The middle-aged man patted his chest and said confidently, "The price is absolutely fair, I guarantee you won't get ripped off."
Look at all this cargo on your boat. It will take a lot of effort to find a tractor to take it to the market to sell.
Sell it to me, we'll exchange money for goods immediately, much more convenient."
"Old Yao, save your energy and stop thinking about making a move. These three boats are all together, and they've docked at this pier more than once or twice. They've always taken them to the market to sell themselves."
Someone chimed in.
Their three boats have docked at the county pier so many times that they've seen a lot of people.
Especially since it caused quite a stir on several occasions, it has long been a famous ship at the dock and a topic of conversation for many people. It's not surprising that it is remembered.
Feng Ye smiled and declined, saying, "Boss Yao, I'm sorry, we're used to taking them to the market to sell ourselves."
The middle-aged man surnamed Yao was unwilling to leave empty-handed and continued to persuade, "What about a great white shark? Are you selling a great white shark? It's so big, it's inconvenient for you to take it to the market. You might as well sell it to me. I'll offer a good price and save you the trouble."
Feng Ye hesitated for a moment.
This great white shark is indeed difficult to handle; moving it is troublesome and laborious.
On the boat, it was alright because there was a crane to help, but once we got to the market entrance, there wasn't such convenient equipment, and we had to rely entirely on manpower.
Moreover, this thing is very cheap; even if you bring it to the market, you won't make much more money from it.
After careful consideration, Feng Ye tentatively asked, "What price are you willing to offer?"
Boss Yao knew he had a chance and was overjoyed, but he didn't show it. He simply held up one finger and said, "I won't tell you how much it costs per pound. It's a fixed price, one hundred yuan. How about it?"
"Alright, this great white shark is yours."
Feng Ye readily agreed.
Even in the market, a shark can only fetch a little over ten cents at most.
But now, Boss Yao has offered 100 yuan, which is equivalent to more than 12 cents per pound.
And you don't have to go through the trouble of moving things around.
Why wouldn't he agree?
I wonder what this fishmonger surnamed Yao was after, spending such a high price to buy this great white shark.
However, this was none of Feng Ye's business, and he didn't want to inquire about it, since he wouldn't lose anything anyway.
Mr. Yao readily took out his wallet, pulled out a hundred-yuan bill, handed it to Feng Ye, and said with a smile, "Happy to cooperate!"
"It's a pleasure doing business with you!"
Feng Ye was secretly pleased; this deal was indeed worthwhile.
After receiving the money, he handed over the task of dealing with the great white shark to the boatmen, instructing them to cooperate with Boss Yao to remove the shark, while he continued to busy himself finding a tractor to transport the other fish.
Before long, he had arranged for several tractors to be driven to the side of the boat.
Meanwhile, the great white shark had already been unloaded from the ship and loaded onto a tractor, but Boss Yao did not rush to leave. Instead, he stood aside, seemingly waiting for something.
Feng Ye glanced at him, feeling uneasy, but didn't ask any further questions, only thinking about getting the rest of the fish to the market as soon as possible.
Although it was still early, more than two hours before the market opened, they had too much cargo—nearly 100 tons on three ships combined—and had to hurry.
However, even though he didn't want to talk to them, they took the initiative to come closer.
Mr. Yao still wore that warm smile: "I see that you have a lot of goods on these three boats, and it's troublesome to move them around. How about you consider selling them to me?"
Just as Feng Ye was about to refuse, he heard him continue, "I don't expect your expensive goods. Just give me some cheaper ones, so you don't have to go through all the trouble, right?"
Feng Ye was now somewhat tempted.
