Chapter 190 Song Rongrong's Letter

Song Anmin came to help out at his uncle's stall again today.

Seeing how diligent his third brother was, Xu Songyuan occasionally sighed inwardly. He had only spoken well of Song Anmin to his eldest sister once, and was scolded by Xu Guiying for it.

Xu Guiying scolded him for being clueless, saying that one thing at a time, Song Anmin could only be described as a reasonably normal person now, and there was no way he could go home.

Since that incident, Xu Songyuan has never dared to mention it again.

Song Anmin was off work today and spent the whole afternoon collecting money for his uncle when he suddenly slapped his thigh and realized something was wrong.

I haven't been in touch with Lao Wu lately, so I don't know how things are going with him and Er Ge.

Song Anmin took off his apron. "Uncle, I have something to do this afternoon, so I'll be leaving now."

"Wait a minute, you haven't eaten yet. Let me make you some fried rice before you go."

Song Anmin licked his lips. "Uncle, cook two portions. I'll take one for Lao Wu."

Xu Songyuan waved his hand and said, "Alright."

Song Anmin carried two portions of fried rice to find Song Jianmin.

After registering at the factory gate, Song Anmin went inside. It was his first time here. After finding the employees' dormitory, he asked a passing coworker to call him.

Song Anmin was asleep when he was woken up.

When I went downstairs, I was not very sober.

"Third Brother, what brings you here today?"

Seeing him like this, Song Anmin felt angry and finally understood why his mother always scolded them.

"Fifth brother, have you been home recently?"

Song Jianmin sniffed the air first, "Where did you buy this fried rice? It's quite delicious."

Song Anmin: "Let's go, let's go eat first, we can talk as we walk."

The two walked toward the staff canteen.

On the way, Lao Wu said he hadn't been home much lately. He was busy at the factory and often had to work overtime at night. Moreover, Song Jianmin had been promoted, so it was even harder for him to take leave easily.

"Third Brother, what's wrong? Why are you suddenly asking about this? Did you go home?"

Song Anmin briefly recounted his uncle's family affairs.

The fifth brother was dumbfounded.

"What about Xu Zhongtang?"

"Xu Zhongtang and Xu Chenggang have both been sentenced. My uncle rented a house near our home. This fried rice was cooked by my uncle. I'll take you there next time."

When Song Jianmin heard this, he thought it was outrageous and proceeded to curse Xu Zhongtang's entire family.

As Song Jianmin approached the cafeteria entrance, he realized:

"Third Brother, you kept something this important from me? Are we even brothers anymore? We were comrades in the same trench!"

Song Anmin: "..."

"Say something, Third Brother!"

Song Anmin explained, "Back then, the matter between my uncle and Xu Zhongtang was resolved in just a few days. Anyway, my uncle came to the city afterward, and my mother wouldn't let me go home. I only went to help my uncle when I had free time. I came to tell you today since I had time, so don't make a fuss."

Song Jianmin snorted coldly.

Song Anmin narrowed his eyes slightly. "You brat, I've explained it to you very clearly. Alright, let's eat first. We're starving."

The two sat down and opened the lunchbox lids.

The aroma of fried rice wafted through the air.

Song Jianmin took a deep breath.

"It smells so good."

"My uncle is a very good cook; he'll be able to open a restaurant someday."

Song Jianmin took a bite and finished it in no time, even forcibly sharing half of Song Anmin's.

Song Anmin: "..."

Song Jianmin wiped his mouth. "Come on, Third Brother, we'll go to Uncle's place tonight."

"Tonight? That's too sudden."

"Why all of a sudden! Isn't this to show my sincerity? What if my uncle gets upset if I don't go? We have to win over everyone we can."

"Aren't you going to work this afternoon?"

It's still lunchtime.

Song Jianmin: "Third brother, find a warm place to wait for me, we'll go together at six o'clock."

Song Anmin was annoyed by his behavior and said, "Get out of here."

Song Jianmin chuckled and ran off.

In winter, it gets dark early, and by the time the Song brothers arrived, it was already completely dark.

The night market was bustling with people, and four or five small tables were set up outside the stalls, all of which were full of people.

"Uncle! I'm here!" Song Jianmin shouted.

Xu Songyuan's hand trembled, and he almost spilled the rice.

Turning my head, I saw it was Song Jianmin.

"Oh, the fifth brother is here."

Xu Songyuan handed the packaged fried rice to the customer.

Now we can finally take a break.

"Fifth Brother, what brings you here?"

"Uncle, if my third brother hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known what's been going on lately, otherwise I would have come much earlier."

Xu Songyuan laughed, "You little rascal!"

Song Anmin: "Hurry up, get to work now that you're here, peel the potatoes."

The Song brothers, Anmin and Jianmin, were good-looking. As they stood there, several young girls came to buy fried rice and tried to strike up a conversation with Jianmin.

Song Jianmin had only dated Zhang Qingli, and then he was haunted by Yu Fang. Now, he doesn't easily talk to any woman, regardless of age, except for his sisters, mother, and grandmother.

Seeing that Song Jianmin didn't respond, they started talking to Song Anmin instead.

Song Anmin smiled throughout, rambling on and on, without uttering a single sincere word.

Xu Songyuan glanced at Song Anmin.

Song Anmin coughed lightly, "I'm not going to talk anymore, I have to get back to work."

They stayed there until nine o'clock.

Xu Xue came at noon and then came again in the evening.

After Xu Songyuan packed up his stall, she caught up with the two brothers.

The brothers' factories weren't in the same direction. Xu Xue thought for a moment and followed Song Anmin. There were only a few people on the road, so it wasn't deserted. Xu Xue's following wasn't conspicuous; it was just something she was going in the same direction.

She watched from afar as Song Anmin entered the factory, memorized the location, and then went home.

-

Peace Lane.

Mo Hong and Song Yun's marriage was settled; they decided to register their marriage on New Year's Day and hold a banquet on the second day of the Lunar New Year.

A few days ago, the Song family and the Mo family had a meal together, and both sets of parents were quite satisfied.

Mo Hong also agreed to live in the new house in Heping Lane from now on, since it was close to the bureau and not far by car.

Xu Guiying also received a letter from Song Rongrong today.

Two or three letters were sent back in October and November. Song Rongrong has adapted to studying and living abroad. With classmates by her side, she doesn't feel lonely. The courses abroad are challenging, but she can manage them.

She is still unsure whether she will come back for the Lunar New Year. She might work at a Chinese restaurant or stay at school to study.

Xu Guiying read the letter twice.

Song Xinfu watched it twice more.

The old man looked at it twice while wearing his reading glasses.

Grandma Song read it three times, her face beaming with smiles.

"Rongrong is amazing. Look how beautiful her handwriting is. Foreign books are all letters, and you can't understand them at all, but Rongrong can still read them. She's the most amazing among all these international students."

Xu Guiying: "...Let's write the letter first, and then give it to the postman tomorrow."

Each time a letter was sent, one member of the Song family would write one.

This time is no exception.
