In mid-January, Song Yingying and Qin Zheng returned to China.
The two landed in the morning, had lunch at the Qin family's house, and then Song Yingying came to Heping Lane in the evening.
After hearing that Song Yun was pregnant, Song Yingying went to visit her at her aunt's house.
Song Yun is now more than three months pregnant. The prenatal checkup results are all normal, and the baby is healthy. Song Xiaoxiao is on summer vacation and stays home with Song Yun every day. Mo Hong also comes home as soon as he gets off work.
Before she knew it, Song Yingying turned twenty. Xu Guiying wondered if it was just her imagination, but Song Yingying seemed to have grown taller.
That night, after the family finished dinner, they talked in the main room. Xu Songyuan was also there, and the house was noisy. Song Yingying didn't go home that night and slept with Song Rongrong.
The room layout remained unchanged, with two small beds still placed inside.
When Song Yingying heard Song Rongrong recount what had happened since the summer vacation, especially when she heard that Song Anmin and Wang Ya had been targeted and retaliated against by a human trafficking gang, she turned pale with fright.
"These people have committed numerous evil deeds, yet they still have the nerve to come out and settle scores. They really don't respect the law or the police! This is outrageous! Are Third Brother and the others alright?"
Song Rongrong shook her head: "It's okay, don't worry. By the way, are you sure you still want to pursue a master's degree?"
Song Yingying nodded, "I still have to study for three more years. By the way, sister, Yan Huai hasn't come to see you again, has he?"
Song Rongrong said no, "By the way, you're free tomorrow, I'll take you somewhere."
Where?
Song Rongrong: "Our TV station recently started a program that selects people who can sing, dance and perform talents. The audition is held near the TV station. You can go and listen if you have time."
Song Yingying: "Okay!"
The next day.
Song Yingying and Song Rongrong went out together.
Song Rongrong had to go to work, so she told Song Yingying to listen and have some fun at the event first, and that she could come find Yingying later if she was free.
"Sis, you go ahead and get busy."
"I don't have much to do today. I should be able to finish in an hour this morning. I'll take you to our cafeteria for lunch."
"OK."
It hadn't started yet, so Song Yingying found a place to sit down. Feeling bored, she went and bought some food.
As Song Rongrong said, she did indeed reappear an hour later.
Zhang Shu came with her.
When Zhang Shu first met Song Yingying, she said, "Yingying, I'm your sister's friend. You can just call me Sister Zhang Shu."
Song Yingying smiled and said, "Okay, I just bought some food. You guys can try it."
The three of them found an empty spot to sit down, and gradually more and more people started to gather in front of them, with some passersby peering through the iron railings.
Before long, a young man came on stage.
Song Yingying nudged Song Rongrong's arm. "Sister, what are you looking at?"
Zhang Shu also looked over.
Song Rongrong pointed to the person on the stage, "I saw him once before when he sang outside the bar, I didn't expect him to actually come."
Zhang Shu: "You introduced him?"
Song Rongrong: "Anyway, I just mentioned that she sings quite well."
Ying Zhengqing sang another Cantonese song today, his deep and magnetic voice carrying out the song.
The scene quickly quieted down.
Song Yingying whispered in Song Rongrong's ear, "Sister, you have such good taste."
Song Rongrong smiled and said, "Right? I told you it sounded nice."
Zhang Shu whispered, "At least we can make it into the top twenty."
After Ying Zhengqing finished singing, the level of the next contestants varied greatly, and Song Yingying found it uninteresting after listening for a while.
It was almost time, so the three of them headed towards the cafeteria.
Song Rongrong and Zhang Shu were employees and didn't have to pay for their meals. After Song Rongrong served Song Yingying the food, she paid for it separately before it was brought over.
The cafeteria gradually filled up with people, and Kong Boxue and Han Yi arrived soon after.
It was the first time they had met Song Yingying.
Song Rongrong: "This is my younger sister, Yingying."
"Hello, Yingying, my name is Kong Boxue."
"I'm Han Yi, Zhang Shu's boyfriend." Han Yi sat down next to Zhang Shu, and as soon as he finished speaking, Zhang Shu glared at him and said, "Just eat your food."
Song Yingying smiled. The people around her are really interesting.
After dinner, Song Rongrong had to go to work, while Song Yingying didn't want to watch the performance anymore and wanted to go home.
Song Rongrong was worried and brought her to the roadside, hailed a taxi for her, told the driver what to do, and wrote down the license plate number.
"Sis, I'm leaving now."
Song Rongrong hummed in agreement, "Bye-bye."
Song Yingying returned to the Qin family. At that moment, Grandma Qin was singing opera, while Grandpa Qin and Uncle He Chenggong were drinking tea in the tea room. Hearing the commotion of Song Yingying's return, they called her over.
"Yingying."
"I'm here."
Like He Chenggong, Song Yingying was somewhat intimidated by He Sui, who looked quite frightening.
"Uncle He," Song Yingying called out.
He Sui hummed in agreement.
Grandpa Qin looked kindly at his granddaughter and asked, "Have you had lunch?"
Song Yingying: "I've already eaten. I went to the TV station with my fourth sister today and ate in the cafeteria. Where's my brother?"
"He went out with He Chenggong."
Song Yingying said "Oh," and then said, "I'll go see Grandma."
After saying that, Song Yingying slipped away.
Beside the small pond, the radio was playing soft, melodious tunes; this time, Grandma Qin was singing Huangmei Opera.
After she finished singing, Song Yingying stepped forward and said, "Grandma."
Grandma Qin then turned around and said, "Yingying, why didn't you say anything when you came back?"
Song Yingying chuckled, "Wait until you finish singing, Grandma sang beautifully."
Grandma Qin squeezed Song Yingying's hand. "Have you eaten yet?"
"I ate." Song Yingying repeated what she had just said to her grandfather.
Grandma Qin said enthusiastically, "Come on, Grandma will take you shopping."
Song Yingying was well-off while studying abroad, so Qin's grandparents transferred all the family property that was originally intended for their second son to Song Yingying, promising to give it to her after she graduated.
Before Song Yingying went abroad, she gave her a savings book and had to deposit money into it every month.
Her lifestyle hasn't changed much. She doesn't like buying things or clothes. She spends her days in the library. Many of her clothes were bought by her classmates or by her grandmother after she returned to China.
Grandma Qin went upstairs to change her clothes.
Song Yingying was waiting for her on the first floor, and she sat on the sofa eating something out of boredom.
Before Grandma Qin came down, He Sui got up to say goodbye.
Hearing the noise, Song Yingying looked towards the tea room.
Grandpa and He Sui came out.
"Uncle Qin, then I'll take my leave now."
Song Yingying stood next to her grandfather, blinked at He Sui, and said, "Goodbye, Uncle He."
He Sui's smile was faint.
At this moment, Grandma Qin also came downstairs.
He said goodbye to Grandma Qin before leaving.
Grandpa Qin asked, "Are you going out?"
"Taking Yingying shopping? What's up? You want to come?"
Grandpa Qin waved his hand, "Why would I go? It's boring!"
Grandma Qin was too lazy to talk to him, so she pulled Yingying along and said, "Your grandpa doesn't understand. Come on, let's go."
