Chapter 268 Candy Store

Chapter 268 Candy Store

“Tick-tick.”

Two drops of bright red blood slid down from between Louis' brows and merged into the expanding pool of blood on the floor.

The pain of her heart being cut by a knife made Vivian sweat coldly and her body curled up involuntarily. She clenched her jaw tightly but did not let out a cry of pain.

"Vivian, don't tell me it's useless. Tell me! Where did you hide the evidence?!"

Once the arrow is shot, there is no turning back. After using the knife once, Louis completely broke the shackles of humanity in his heart. Without hesitation, he pulled Vivian up from the ground with a ferocious knife, and blood was drawn with every blow.

Severe pain spread from her chest to her entire body, and the coldness caused by blood loss caused Vivian to twitch uncontrollably.

But the sneer on her face never changed. She opened her mouth with difficulty, and blood gushed out along with her words: "A place...you will never, ever...never find it."

"Even if I die today, they will avenge Madam Irene sooner or later, Louis... I'll wait for you in hell, hahahaha."

Louis's face turned pale instantly, his eyes widened with fear. He had a hunch that what Vivian said was true. He would never be able to find the evidence she had hidden, and sooner or later, Ye Lin and the others would find it.

He wouldn't allow this to happen, and said incoherently, "No, no, impossible! You can't do this!"

Seeing that Vivian was not moved by his soft or hard words, Louis wiped the cold sweat from his forehead in panic and began to play the emotional card with Vivian.

"Vivian, you can hate me, I deserve to die, but what about Daniel? He knows nothing, he has never done anything bad, he is your nephew!" Louis tightly grasped Vivian's shoulders, trying to force his thoughts into her.

"If Rebecca and the others find out, they won't let Daniel go! Daniel will be thrown into a quagmire by them. Do you want to see this? Susan asked you to take care of Daniel, have you forgotten, Vivian?"

"I haven't forgotten!" Vivian spat out a mouthful of blood and interrupted Louis.

"I love Daniel, but I'm sorry, Madam. I know exactly what I'm doing!" Perhaps because of the surge of adrenaline at the approach of death, Vivian felt that she had endless strength at this moment. She could even sit up in a pool of blood and look straight at Louis who fell across from her.

"Louis, you've already got everything that was once out of reach. What else do you want?"

"You've already exacted enough revenge on the Fairburn family. What's the difference between you now and the former Fairburn family master?"

Hearing the name of the old patriarch of Fairburn, Louis instantly seemed to have lost his mind and grabbed Vivian's neck, roaring wildly: "My parents were all killed by that old man! What's wrong with me asking his daughter and grandson to pay for my parents' lives!"

"For a piece of land, that old bastard Walter Fairburn killed my parents. Why do his children and grandchildren live so freely?"

"Erin, Rebecca, Angel, they spend their days extravagantly, playing and laughing on the mountain of gold that Walter robbed them, while my grandfather and I have to hide in the slums and suffer from hunger and cold. Why?"

"Hehehe, why..."

Louis pinched Vivian's neck, venting the anger that had been suppressed in his heart for decades. With the last roar, he seemed to be drained of all his energy. He fell backwards to the floor, staring at the ceiling with empty eyes, and kept muttering "Why".

Vivian had fallen into a coma, and her chest was calm except for the blood that kept flowing out, without any movement.

In the closed and humid space, corruption, mold, and fishy smells are mixed together, making it difficult to tell whether it is the human world or purgatory.

"Are you sure it's here?"

Ye Lin got out of the passenger seat of Rafa's car and looked at the dim and narrow street in front of him. The walls were broken and all kinds of small advertisements were stuck on them like putty, and the original color of the buildings could not be seen at all.

I don’t know if it’s because of insufficient voltage or because they are reluctant to pay the electricity bill, but the huge street is pitch black, with only a few households turning on dim lights, and you can’t even see the road under your feet.

Oakley climbed out of Rafa's driver's seat and complained, "Your car looks good but it's not practical. It's really hard to drive. Yes, this is it."

Ye Lin couldn't believe that there was such a poor place in Rome. He frowned and looked at Oakley with a hint of disdain. "This place is so poor, and you're still here to collect protection money?"

Oakley didn't think there was anything wrong with his business. He blew on his gun and said confidently, "I'm not taking this money for nothing. If something happens in this shabby place, you'd be better off calling Jesus than the police. I'm taking money to maintain public security so they can live a stable life. What's wrong with that?"

"You're still as thick-skinned as ever."

"Hurry up, where is the candy store?"

Ye Lin patted Oakley's shoulder and motioned him to lead the way.

Oakley didn't know the specific route, and it was not his turn to do such a menial job as collecting protection fees, so he picked up a little brother and sent him to lead the way.

Deep in the street, several shops saw Oakley and his group coming, and they quickly turned off the lights and closed their doors as if they had seen a ghost. In less than five seconds, the street was completely dark, without a trace of fire.

Ye Lin said with amusement: "Is this the peaceful life under your management? Look how scared people are."

"That's because he has poor mental quality, how can you blame me?" Oakley muttered guiltily.

Ye Lin, hehe

The younger brother who went to explore the way ran back and found out that more than 20 years ago, there was a candy store opened by an old man on the street behind. After the old man passed away, the candy store had been abandoned for almost 20 years.

Ye Lin and Oakley looked at each other and said, "Let's go."

The street behind was even more desolate than the one in front. A group of people walked in the alley, making the street seem lively.

I groped in the dark and found this decades-old candy store. The words on the advertisement on the door were no longer recognizable, but the shapes of the candies painted with paint were still vaguely visible.
