Zhou Du rarely came to the NTU campus. He usually met Xia Xi outside the school when he needed something. He couldn't quite put his finger on where this place was. He surveyed the surroundings and suggested a landmark: "There's a large stone standing nearby with the words 'Virtue Holds All Things.'"
"Then I understand." Xia Xi hung up the phone and ran over taking the shortcut next to the artificial lake.
The fir trees were still green in the first month of the lunar year. Zhou Du sat on a public wooden chair without fear of the cold. He wore a black denim jacket over a Klein blue shirt and ripped jeans, with his hands folded behind his head.
Next to him was a pile of gift bags.
Xia Xi tiptoed over and patted him hard on the shoulder.
"Oh my god!" Zhou Du shuddered. There was not a breath of wind, and the sun felt so comfortable on his face. He had almost fallen asleep, and was suddenly woken up. Of course, he was startled. "Why did you come so quickly?"
"Nonsense." Xia Xi laughed, "You said you wanted to send me something, so of course I ran fast."
Zhou Du turned his face away and nodded his chin: "It's all yours."
"What is it?" Xia Xi said, reaching into the paper bag. There were all kinds of food and useful things.
Zhou Du stood up and stretched his muscles. "I've been working in an advertising studio lately, and the PRs from various partners sent me a bunch of gift boxes. They have everything, and I can't use them all, so I brought some for you. I gave Liang Yuan the one a couple of days ago."
Xia Xi didn't bother to be polite and accepted everything: "Thank you, you are really my brother."
Zhou Du remembered something, his eyes dimmed for a moment, then disappeared in an instant: "How have you been lately?"
"What aspects do you mean?" Xia Xi asked, and then answered himself, "Every aspect is good."
"That's fine." Zhou Du nodded.
Xia Xi opened a box of toffee, peeled off the wrapper and put it in her mouth. There was a filling in the middle. As she bit into it, the fragrant chocolate flowed to the tip of her tongue. She handed him one and asked, "Do you want some?"
"If I liked this, would I give it to you?" Zhou Du snorted, raised the corner of his lips to sneer, and patted her on the head, "Keep it for yourself and eat it slowly."
"Hey, are you free tonight? Call Liang Yuan and I'll treat you two to dinner. It feels like we haven't eaten together in a while."
"You haven't seen your boyfriend this winter break. You just arrived in South City. Don't you need to have dinner with him?"
Xia Xi finished chewing the candy in her mouth and peeled another one: "Xu Yanfeng has to meet with a foreign partner this afternoon. I wonder when he will be done."
"Is... is that so?" Zhou Du didn't know why he could see the person Xia Xi mentioned. He blinked hard, and it was really Xu Yanfeng. He seemed to have fallen from the sky, standing next to a fir tree, straight and tall, with deep brows, and a chill of winter in the afterglow of the setting sun.
Zhou Du put his hands in his pockets and kindly reminded: "Xia Xi, turn your head."
