Chapter 26 No Need to Be Gentle

"That makes sense." Xia Xi sat up straight, reached into her bag, and took out her phone. She sorted out her words in her mind before calling Mr. Li's assistant. "Hello, this is Xia Xi, the one who called you before. Is Mr. Li finished with his work? If today isn't convenient, we can make another appointment. Mr. Li's work is important."

Huang Shiyu secretly gave her a thumbs up. What he said was flawless and there was no room for error.

The assistant first said "sorry", then explained to Xia Xi: "We encountered a little emergency here and were unable to leave on time, but it's almost over and we will be there in half an hour at most."

"Okay, I'll wait." Xia Xi took the phone from his ear.

Huang Shiyu blinked and asked, "What did you say?"

Xia Xi sighed helplessly: "They said it's almost over, and it will be here in half an hour at most."

Huang Shiyu perked up after hearing this. It was only half an hour and it passed quickly.

However, after the agreed half hour, an hour had passed and there was still no sign of Mr. Li. It was already dark outside. Octagonal lanterns were lit in the corridors, and from somewhere came a humming sound, as if someone was singing an opera.

Huang Shiyu covered his mouth and yawned, then glanced at his nearly dead phone. It was already half past eight. "Why haven't they arrived yet? Are they kidding us?"

Xia Xi felt embarrassed to call again to urge him. In fact, she also felt speechless. If he didn't have time, he could just make another appointment. There was no need to keep him in suspense like that.

"Why don't you go back first?" Xia Xi said, "My home is not far from here. I'll wait a little longer. If no one shows up by nine o'clock, I'll go back too."

Huang Shiyu shook his head: "I'll wait with you."

"Even if we meet in person, we'll just discuss preliminary ideas. There's no need for an assistant to be present." Xia Xi patted her shoulder. "There's no point asking you to work overtime on your first day. Go home, have a meal, take a bath, and then have a relaxing weekend. We'll talk about it on Monday."

Huang Shiyu was shaken by what he said and said hesitantly: "Then I... leave?"

"Let's go." Xia Xi nodded, "Be careful on the road."

After Huang Shiyu left, Xia Xi sat alone in the box for half an hour, the clock pointing to nine. She agreed with Huang Shiyu's opinion that he was just playing a trick on her.

The appointment was for six o'clock, but the person still hadn't arrived at nine o'clock. He made me wait for three hours in vain. Isn't this just a joke?

Xia Xi's patience ran out, so she put her phone in her bag and stood up to leave.

She opened the door of the box and looked up. There stood a man outside. He was about forty years old, wearing a black suit and had a beer belly, as if he was five months pregnant. The buttons of his suit were hanging loosely, as if they would break at any time.

Xia Xi stopped, collected his thoughts, and asked, "Is it Mr. Li?"

Li Chenghai looked at her face, unable to conceal his amazement, and thought to himself, if he had known that Xia Xi was such a beautiful woman, he would not have been so ungraceful.

It was Young Master Tang's fault for not explaining it clearly to him beforehand. He only said that Miss Xia was a woman who was very good at playing tricks, and told him not to be gentle with her. It would be better to leave her alone first, and then have fun with her, and it would be best if she was scared to kneel down and beg for mercy.

Li Chenghai walked in with a smile, and Xia Xi had no choice but to step back. She heard him say, "I'm so sorry to have kept you waiting, Miss Xia. Something delayed me and I couldn't make it on time."

His tone didn't sound like he was embarrassed.

What else could Xia Xi say? She cursed in her heart, but smiled on her face: "It's okay, it's a good opportunity to enjoy the scenery here."

Li Chenghai walked past her, and a faint fragrance entered his nose. He began to feel itchy in his heart, but he pretended to be serious and sat down at the dining table, tapping the edge of the table with his fingers.

"Miss Xia hasn't had dinner yet, why don't we eat and talk at the same time?"
