Chapter 36 He is chasing you

Xia Xicai didn't hug him. Instead, he walked over and patted his arm. "You didn't come to see me specially, did you? What's going on in Nancheng?"

"Of course I'm not here to see you. Don't be so self-indulgent." Zhou Du was very tall, 1.88 meters without shoes. He easily patted Xia Xi on the top of the head with his backhand. "I'm here to see the children, to see if they've grown taller."

Hearing this, Youyou dropped the Barbie doll, climbed up from the carpet with her butt sticking out, and pointed her little hand at her head: "Godfather, look how tall I've grown."

Zhou Du immediately bent down and picked up the child, kissing her on the cheek: "You're so good. Listen to your mother, eat well, and try to grow as tall as your father next year."

Youyou raised her hands and cheered, "Great!"

Xia Xi burst out laughing: "Don't listen to your godfather's nonsense. If he really grows as tall as him next year, he will become a monster."

The coffee table was piled high with gifts, most of which Zhou Du had given to the two children: Transformers, toy cars, Legos, Barbie dolls. Xia Xi also had some. She ate the fruit Su Jinru had brought her and opened a bag to see it was filled with high-end skincare and cosmetics.

"Are these all mine?" Xia Xi raised his eyebrows, his eyes lighting up.

"You wish." Zhou Du argued with her, "I brought it for my aunt and grandma, there's no place for you."

Su Jinru smiled so hard that her teeth showed. "Oh, I don't use these. I don't use any of the anti-aging skin care products Xixi bought for me. I just use Dabao every day. Her grandmother doesn't use them either."

Zhou Du then hummed, and with a haughty attitude, as if giving it to Xia Xi as alms, "Since Auntie and Grandma don't need it, you can use it. They are all given by PRs of major brands anyway."

Xia Xi: "Tsk, Zhou Du, how old are you?"

She held a piece of cantaloupe in her mouth, carried the bag back to the bedroom, and put it on the dressing table. When she turned around, she didn't expect Su Jinru to follow her in and close the door. Xia Xi was slightly startled: "Mom, what are you doing?"

Su Jinru walked up to her, took her hand, and said in a low voice, looking mysterious: "I actually forgot about Zhou Du. I know his parents well. He used to frequent our restaurant. You two grew up together and went to college in the same city. You are childhood sweethearts and know each other very well. Seeing how harmonious he and Ziheng get along, I guess he must have visited you abroad many times in the past few years. You..."

"Stop!" Xia Xi heard her mother's words become more and more ambiguous, almost making it clear. If she still didn't understand her mother's thoughts, she would be a fool. "We don't mean that. Don't try to match us up."

Su Jinru was not easily convinced and asked, "Are you not interested in him, or is he not interested in you?"

Without Xia Xi's reply, Su Jinru guessed it was the former. She said earnestly, "The last blind date was indeed unreliable, but Zhou Du is different. I've watched him grow up. His appearance, character, and family background are all impeccable. Relationships can be cultivated. Try spending time with him, and maybe sparks will fly."

"Sparks? I struck lightning." Xia Xi's face was full of resistance. "Neither of us is interested in each other. Mom, you can say this in front of me, but don't mention it in front of Zhou Du. It's very embarrassing."

"I'm not stupid, your mother. Don't I know what to say?"

"Okay, you're the most sensible person. Let's go out first. Don't hide here and talk. It's impolite."

The mother and daughter dragged each other out of the room. Su Jinru stared at Zhou Du playing with the two children. She liked him very much no matter how she looked at him. She tugged at Xia Xi's sleeve desperately, "Is there really no possibility for you two?"

Xia Xi: “…”

Grandma had similar thoughts to Su Jinru, and she took the opportunity to ask Zhou Du, "Xiao Zhou, where do you work?"

"I'm currently renting a house in Beicheng, which serves as a base for my work. I also bought two houses in my hometown, one for me and one for my parents to live in during their retirement."

Zhou Du answered frankly and in detail, which made his grandmother even more satisfied.

"Why do my Ziheng and Youyou call you goddaddy? When did this happen?" Grandma smiled.

Zhou Du said, "I flew to London to attend an event and thought of Xixi there, so I went to see her. As you know, we grew up together and have a very close relationship, so I let the two children call me goddaddy."

"Oh oh." Grandma couldn't close her mouth.

Xia Xi felt a headache, she held her forehead, wondering if Zhou Du really didn't understand what his grandmother meant, or if he was pretending not to understand, he actually started chatting about it.

To prevent the topic from going off track, Xia Xi quickly interrupted: "Zhou Du, you must have work in South City, right? What are your plans for tonight?"

Zhou Du was helping Youyou put on a beautiful dress for her Barbie doll. Upon hearing this, he blinked his distinct black and white eyes at her, "Huh? I finally came here, and you're not even going to treat me? So stingy?"

Su Jinru pretended to glare at Xia Xi, then turned to look at Zhou Du and immediately put on a smile. Xia Xi was impressed by how quickly she changed her expression.

"Don't listen to Xixi, she's joking!" Su Jinru said enthusiastically, "I'll go cook now. Don't go anywhere tonight. Just stay home and eat and taste Auntie's cooking."

Su Jinru didn't waste a second. After she finished speaking, she rushed to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, took out all the ingredients and placed them on the sink, then rolled up her sleeves and prepared to show her skills.

Grandma stood up and went to help her, and told Xia Xi to entertain Zhou Du well.

Xia Xi's eyes twitched. He looked at Zhou Du, tilted his head slightly, and asked him with his eyes: Are you serious?

Zhou Du pretended not to notice her hint and asked Youyou, "Let's change this little princess into a pink dress, okay?"
