Chapter 100 Still Not Giving Up
Wu Suowei tossed and turned and couldn't sleep, feeling very confused.
He quietly slipped out of the guest room and went to the small balcony on the second floor.
The cool night wind blew on his face, making him a little more awake.
He leaned over the railing, looked at the vague outline of the garden downstairs, and sighed heavily.
The balcony door was pushed open silently.
Chi Cheng's tall figure appeared at the door, holding a burning cigarette between his fingertips, the scarlet flame flickering in the darkness.
He didn't seem to sleep either.
Hearing the noise, Wu Suowei turned around suddenly in fright!
Seeing that it was Chi Cheng, he subconsciously took a step back and leaned his back against the cold railing.
Chi Cheng didn't say anything, but just walked to the railing and stood more than one meter away from Wu Suowei.
He took a puff of cigarette, slowly exhaled the smoke, and his eyes fell on the night in the distance.
The profile of the face appeared a little blurry in the dim light.
The night wind blew, carrying with it a faint smell of tobacco and Chi Cheng's unique, clear and dangerous aura.
Wu Suowei's nerves were so tense that he didn't call the police immediately.
He remained alert, but did not retreat.
He stood there silently, his fingers unconsciously scratching the cold railing.
Chi Cheng withdrew his gaze from a distance and fell on Wu Suowei's fingers that were digging into the railing.
The fingers turned slightly white due to the force.
He stubbed out the cigarette and flicked it into the cigarette extinguisher beside him.
Then, he took half a step very slowly and tentatively in the direction of Wu Suwei.
The distance has shortened.
Wu Suowei's body tensed up instantly!
My heart is in my throat!
He suddenly looked up at Chi Cheng, his eyes full of surprise and... a faint expectation that he himself was not even aware of?
What is he going to do?
Chi Cheng stopped.
He saw the surprise and doubt in Wu Suowei's eyes, and also caught a glimpse of the complex light that flashed by.
He didn't come any closer, but just stood there quietly, looking at him with a serious look.
The night wind blew the hems of their clothes. A silent, tense confrontation spread across the narrow balcony.
The distance is very close.
It was so close that he could clearly see the faint lights in the garden downstairs reflected in Chi Cheng's eyes.
That look was still unfathomable, carrying an oppressive feeling of control over everything, but it seemed... a little less sinister than usual, and a little more... focused?
Wu Suowei felt that he was having difficulty breathing.
He hated his tyranny, hated his imprisonment, and hated those cold snakes!
But at this moment, on the quiet balcony late at night, facing this close, powerful, and unpredictable man, Wu Suowei sadly discovered that the damn, shameful throbbing deep in his heart, like a weed, quietly emerged from the ruins of fear.
I was afraid of him, but I couldn't help it... I wanted to see him clearly.
This pulling almost tore him apart.
After that night on the balcony, Wu Suowei's heart was completely unbalanced.
Fear still runs deep in my bones.
Hatred has never diminished.
But that inexplicable throbbing and desire to explore, like a vine, entangled with fear, tormenting him day and night.
He felt like he was going crazy!
This can't go on any longer!
He must leave! Leave completely!
Taking advantage of the fact that Chi Cheng seemed to have relaxed his vigilance recently, he secretly contacted Jiang Xiaoshuai and got a long-distance bus ticket to a small fishing village in the south, departing in the early morning.
He left behind all the expensive clothes that Chi Cheng had bought for him, which made him feel sad but he dared not throw away. He only wore his own old clothes that had been washed so much that they were almost white. With the meager travel expenses that he had secretly saved, he, like a real mouse, pried open the side door of the villa's back door, which he had been observing for a long time and whose lock was a little loose, in the darkest hour of the early morning.
The cold night wind blew in, making him shiver.
His heart was pounding, his palms were covered in sweat, and he looked back at the silent villa, which was like a huge monster's lair.
Without hesitation, he plunged into the thick night like an arrow and ran towards the long-distance bus station!
Freedom! He could almost smell the salty sea air!
Chi Cheng opened his eyes almost the moment Wu Suowei pried open the side door.
In the darkness, his eyes were clear and he didn't feel sleepy at all.
He sat up slowly and picked up the phone on the bedside table. The screen clearly showed a picture from a hidden surveillance camera outside the villa - a thin figure was running for his life and disappeared around the corner.
The corner of Chi Cheng's mouth curled up into an extremely cold arc.
As expected. Still not giving up.
very good.
This cat-and-mouse game should end.
He dialed a number, his voice eerily calm: "The target has appeared, heading towards XX Road. Close the net as planned."
The long-distance bus station was shabby and chaotic, filled with the smell of cheap tobacco and sweat.
Wu Suowei clutched the crumpled ticket, huddled on a plastic chair in the corner, and glanced around vigilantly.
Ticket checking is almost done! As long as he gets on the bus... he can get rid of that lunatic once and for all!
Get away from those cold snakes! Get away from this suffocating chaos! He felt nervous yet hopeful.
There was a commotion at the ticket gate, and several uniformed "staff" began to check ID cards one by one, their movements slow and methodical. Wu Suowei's heart was in his throat.
It's his turn.
He handed over the fake ID with trembling hands.
The "staff member" took the ID card, compared it carefully with Wu Suowei's face, and then took out a handheld instrument to scan it.
The instrument issued a shrill alarm! Several "staff members" gathered around instantly!
"What are you doing?!" Wu Suowei's face turned pale. He wanted to run, but two strong men held his arms firmly on his left and right! "Let me go! I have a ticket! I..."
The leading man showed his ID expressionlessly and said, "Come with us. There's a problem with your ID."
Without saying anything, he carried the struggling Wu Suowei out and stuffed him directly into a black commercial vehicle parked on the side of the road.
The car door slammed shut! Wu Suowei struggled in fear, pounding on the car window: "Let me out! Who are you?! Kidnapping me!" He screamed in despair.
The driver's and passenger doors opened, and two "staff members" got in.
The back door was also opened, and a tall figure bent over and sat in, bringing a familiar, suffocating feeling of oppression - Chi Cheng!
The moment he saw Chi Cheng, all of Wu Suowei's struggles and shouts were stuck in his throat!
He seemed to have his bones pulled out, slumped in the back seat, his eyes changing from horror to complete despair and dejection.
It's over. I've been caught again.
He couldn't escape it. He could never escape it.
Chi Cheng didn't even glance at the distraught Wu Suowei beside him, and said coldly to the driver: "Drive. Go home."
The car started smoothly and merged into the early morning traffic.
Deathly silence.
There was only Wu Suowei's suppressed and desperate gasps.
He huddled in the corner farthest from Chi Cheng, his face buried in his knees, his shoulders slightly hunched.
This time, I didn't even have the energy to curse.
Only deep-rooted fatigue and... resignation?
The car drove for a while.
Chi Cheng suddenly stretched out his hand, not to grab him, but to forcefully pry open Wu Suowei's hands that were hugging his knees, and stuffed something cold and hard into his cold palm.
Wu Suowei lowered his head subconsciously.
Lying in the palm of his hand was his crumpled long-distance bus ticket to the small fishing village.
He looked up at Chi Cheng in astonishment.
Chi Cheng's gaze fell heavily on his face. His voice rang out in the closed carriage. It was not loud, but it had a strange penetrating power: "Want to go to the beach? I'll take you there."
