Chapter 7 Working as a Lawn Mower

Ye Zhiyu was unaware of what had happened in the kitchen, nor of Liu Shengnan's actions.

If she were there, she would do a high and low jump to entertain Liu Shengnan, and she would tell her to say more.

......

Ye Zhiyu took the remaining cornbread back to the house, opened a jar of beef sauce, and scooped a spoonful into the middle of the cornbread.

I took a bite and was surprised to find it quite delicious. The cornmeal had a hint of sweetness, and paired with the beef sauce, it had a unique flavor.

This was a novel experience for Ye Zhiyu, who had eaten a lot of delicacies, and she even felt like she wanted to eat more and more.

After finishing the meal with lingering enjoyment, I took another piece of pastry to make do.

Eat well and sleep well, then I'll have to go to work tomorrow.

I've finished washing up.

Ye Zhiyu pouted and drifted off to sleep.

......

Ye Zhiyu was awakened by a knock on the door, and Liu Shengnan's signature voice rang out from outside.

There was a loud knocking on the door. "Ye Zhiyu, Ye Zhiyu, get up. We're going to work. Remember to go cut pig feed today."

Ye Zhiyu opened her eyes groggily and responded.

Liu Shengnan is gone.

When she opened the door, everyone had already left.

I was yawning and washing up when I glanced at the clock; it was only seven o'clock.

The work in the fields starts at 7 a.m., and we have to go to get the tools half an hour earlier, which means we have to get up at 6 a.m. at the latest, and even then, we can eat as soon as we get up at 6 a.m.

The person who is supposed to cook has to get up at 5 a.m.

At noon, everyone stays in the fields and doesn't come back. The cooks come back at 11 o'clock, bring the food to the fields, and after eating, they rest for a while before continuing to work.

Gathering pig feed is much easier. As long as you gather enough feed, you can go home or go elsewhere, it doesn't matter.

Ye Zhiyu couldn't help but sigh at how hard the working people really work.

I ate steamed cornbread for breakfast, just like last night, with beef sauce, and also made myself a bowl of milk powder.

While eating, she looked around at the original owner's belongings: two box-like cabinets and a large wardrobe, which the original owner had specially customized, never compromising himself.

Both cabinets were filled with snacks sent by my family, all delicious treats.

The wardrobe was full of clothes, some of which I brought myself, and some of which were sent from home later.

Speaking of which, the identity that Tiandao's father arranged for him is really amazing; there's no way to criticize it.

Ye Jinlin, the father, was a regimental commander, and his mother was a military doctor, but they were killed in action.

My grandfather, Ye Zhenguo, has retired, but he is still a very prominent figure. My grandmother, Dai Lin, is a painter.

My maternal grandfather, Su Kairen, and maternal grandmother, Lin Fang, were both writers, and my uncle, Su Zheng'an, was also a regimental commander.

He and Ye Jinlin were comrades-in-arms. He remembered that the original owner's father had said that he had secretly kidnapped Ye Jinlin's sister and had been beaten up by him.

My aunt is also a clerk in the military, and my cousin is currently serving in the army.

With this lineup, who would dare to mess with them?

The original owner insisted on going to the countryside, and the two families had no choice but to give her the best they could and try to make her suffer less.

They all vied to give her their special food rations, and the original owner had to plead and beg before she only took her father Ye Jinlin's and aunt's.

She couldn't possibly eat all of it, so each family took one to show fairness.

Even with that, they felt she wasn't getting enough, so they kept adding to it. She also had a savings account with 20,000 yuan in it.

In the novel, Li Xi is reborn and continuously absorbs Ye Zhiyu's luck.

Not only did Ye Zhiyu suffer frequent misfortunes, but the Su and Ye families also began to decline. Her father and uncle were inexplicably investigated, her aunt was fired, her cousin sacrificed himself, and her maternal grandparents couldn't bear to see their child die once again.

My grandparents started to have health problems and soon passed away.

The original owner suffered unbearable torment at the hands of Li Xi in the Red Flag Brigade, with a constant stream of bad news, and finally, unable to endure it any longer, committed suicide.

Ye Zhiyu was gritting her teeth as she read it, and when she saw the original owner commit suicide, she jumped up and cursed the author for three days and three nights.

Tiandao's father didn't dare to provoke her for those few days.

......

The work of cutting pig feed started at 8:30. When Ye Zhiyu arrived, the children, who were already half-grown, had arrived early.

Curiously observing this fairy-like older sister, Ye Zhiyu calmly accepted the basket and sickle.

Follow the children to the place where they gather pig feed.

The children are so cute. Even though Ye Zhiyu wore a straw hat today, the gauze was still sticking out.

They all considered themselves little adults and took care of her feelings in every way. One little girl even kicked stones off the road for her.

Ye Zhiyu tried to stop her, but the little girl said seriously, "My sister is a patient now, and my mother said I need to know how to take care of people."

Ye Zhiyu was both amused and exasperated, but she quickly ran out of energy to care about anything else.

The summer sun was very strong; it was already quite hot at 9 a.m., making her feel hot all over. She soon started sweating, felt uncomfortable in her head, and felt weak. Compared to the children next to her who remained calm and energetic, Ye Zhiyu felt as if she had been possessed by Lin Daiyu at that moment.

After walking for a while longer, I saw a stream over there, and the grass was very lush. I couldn't walk any further no matter what I said.

The little girl looked around and said with a worried expression, "Sister, Niu Niu doesn't like to eat the grass over there."

But Ye Zhiyu was already exhausted. She didn't care whether she liked it or not; she was about to die, so why should she care about the cow?

Seeing that she insisted, the little girl had no choice but to leave reluctantly, and Ye Zhiyu put two milk candies in her palm.

......

Ye Zhiyu walked to the stream, washed her face, and instantly felt alive again. There was a big tree where she was, which protected her from the sun.

I took off my white shoes and put my feet in the water to play.

The mountain stream was cool, and Ye Zhiyu soon felt the sweat begin to dissipate.

Not wanting to work, he half-heartedly kicked around in the water.
