Considering that her prolonged silence might lead to wild speculation, Yin Zhu quickly stopped daydreaming and answered the man's question seriously: "I don't have children, and I haven't seen any children in a long time. I'm very curious."
This statement wasn't entirely false, but it veered the question in a completely different direction, failing to address either the work or the content of his lecture.
The man seemed to only want an answer that "he wasn't wrong," so he continued lecturing the child with satisfaction.
It was only then that Yin Zhu realized this was an outdoor class.
However, the man's words contained a great deal of glorification of the gods. Using Yin Zhu's own logic, she arrived at the following conclusion:
Since the gods existed on the sole planet from the beginning, excluding the gods equates to the possibility of the unspeakable. If the gods are not unspeakable, then the original "disaster" in the story refers to something eerie.
According to the man's account, the gods were unable to return to heaven after banishing the unspeakable. However, the reality is that the unspeakable anomaly has invaded the Unique Star, which is why this world has become a dungeon. So, this part is either a lie fabricated by the higher-ups to appease the lower-ups, or the higher-ups themselves are kept in the dark, and a group of people are having a final celebration before their deaths.
If it's true that technological advancements are caused by the descent of gods, are the raw materials for this technology truly what should exist in the cyberpunk era?
Yin Zhu was initially skeptical, unsure of what to expect.
Of the other aspects, the most useful is the introduction to the city of Vina.
The poor's apartments and slums are located on the outermost edge of Viña City, so illegal immigrants often sneak in to find intermediaries to help them obtain false citizenship. Further in is the commercial district, where most citizens work and spend their time, and also contains some very small residential buildings.
The core area of Vena City is called the Realm of Gods. Although it sounds very cheesy, even just from looking at it before, Yin Zhu could tell that the technology there was so advanced that it had almost squeezed out all the resources in the surrounding area.
Of course, all of this became what the man described:
"The gods are full of love for mankind. They live in the very center of the city of Vena, yet they allow mankind to come and watch the annual ceremony of their ascension to godhood. They provide shelter from the wind and rain and jobs for lost mankind, and they have built countless commercial buildings there. Do you know the Mihana Building?"
"I know! They sell delicious food!" A child with tiger ears raised his hand. "But my mom only takes me there before the grand ceremony each year..."
"If we're talking about the lowest rungs of Vena City, it's the E-level and F-level citizens on the outskirts. They're lazy and greedy, they don't work but always dream of a better life, they envy what the higher-level citizens and gods have, and they keep starting wars," the man said slowly.
“They’re so bad!” The children were completely swayed by the men.
"You must strive to be good citizens, work diligently every day, and not be like them, living in dirty and smelly slums, complaining all the time. Otherwise, you will only become social trash."
"good!"
Watching the man brainwash the child, Yin Zhu suddenly asked, "Is there a library or bookstore nearby? I'd like to look at some physical books."
"Who reads paper books these days..." the man muttered instinctively, then suddenly realized something, his mind racing with all sorts of random thoughts. He stood up straight with utmost respect and bowed deeply, saying, "I'm sorry, I was a little rude to you just now. I hope you won't mind..."
"That's enough. I want to look at the books for the poor. Is there a place for them?" Yin Zhu interrupted him expressionlessly.
The man hesitated for a moment, then nodded, but remained somewhat doubtful: "That place is a bit strange; I heard it's the area of the Dream God..."
"Him? It's alright, go ahead and tell me."
Yin Zhu's calm demeanor made the man a little uneasy, seriously doubting that he had guessed correctly. Since it was Yin Zhu who took the initiative to go, the man naturally did not stop her too much. He only gave her the address and quickly grabbed the child and ran off.
"This is... treating me like a god."
Yin Zhu didn't say it directly, and there was nothing in their conversation that could have triggered any violations. The monitoring system, which collects massive amounts of data, naturally didn't find anything wrong with Yin Zhu and filtered her out directly.
To be honest, Yin Zhu was somewhat surprised that there was a library in the cyberpunk world.
Considering that this world is essentially a world of strange tales with rules, and that there are both gods and cybernetic beings, Yin Zhu felt it was reasonable. With so much power, it was normal for them to be a little willful. She just didn't know what kind of monster the man was talking about, the Dream God.
Before entering the library, Yin Zhu carefully read the "Library Rules" posted at the entrance.
Finally, she got to do what she used to do.
Compared to scheming and life-or-death struggles, Yin Zhu is much better at interpreting the rules.
[Library Rules]
Although the title is simple and easy to understand, without any prefix, the rules that follow are even simpler and easier to understand, practically saying outright, "This library has serious problems, do not enter if you want to live."
1. This library is open all day. When entering or exiting, you need to scan the Good Spirit Officer at the designated entrance gate to activate the gate before you can enter or exit. Only one person is allowed at a time. Do not force your way in.
This library has only one exit, the main entrance. If you find any other exit, please do not approach it.
2. The vending machines in this library offer bottled water, bread, and dried meat. They do not sell any alcoholic beverages; please do not drink from them.
3. Animals are strictly prohibited from entering this library. If you see an animal in the library, please go to the library desk immediately and ask the librarian for help. Please do not attempt to touch the animals to avoid causing unnecessary personal injury.
