Chapter 400 Library Rules

The habits she developed on the future star made her subconsciously obey orders.

There's a scanner at the library entrance. I don't know if it's to prevent students from bringing in things they shouldn't, or to prevent them from secretly taking books out of the school. Anyway, it makes a "beep" sound and is accompanied by a reassuring green light when someone passes by. At first glance, it looks a bit like a security check.

As students entered the library, the rules were played on a loop over the loudspeaker:

Welcome to the Slot Library. This library belongs to Slot High School. If you see this library anywhere else, you are simply hallucinating.

This is... somewhat similar to the principle of illusion explained by Alice.

To ensure your safety here, please be sure to follow these rules:

[1. The Slot Library is open to students 24 hours a day; non-students are not permitted entry.]

2. All books in this library are prohibited from being taken out of the library.

3. Please keep quiet inside the library. Do not make loud noises or engage in any conversations with other students.

4. Please handle the books with care when borrowing them and do not attempt to damage them.

5. All librarians in this library wear green uniforms and a color ID card that matches their own appearance on their chest.

All librarians' identification documents are in color; black and white is not permitted. If you encounter a librarian with a black and white identification document, please do not attempt to communicate with them.

6. When the library's announcements start playing any language you don't understand, stay where you are and cover your ears. Don't try to understand what the announcements are saying.

7. There is no archive room in the Slot Library. If you see a room labeled as an archive room, please do not enter.

Sure enough, since the pollution entered the school, the school rules have become increasingly strange. Cheng Zhu couldn't contact Mary and Alice for the time being, so he could only wait for them alone in the library.

If Mary and Alice are still in the teaching building, then even if I send my message, it will probably be distorted by the virus.

Fortunately, they found a third-party platform in advance and agreed on a secret code.

Cheng Zhu found a seat, opened the [Human Glory Society] forum, and quickly wrote a post according to the pre-arranged content, titled: "Anyone else here? I'm in the library of Slote High School, are you jealous?"

It also includes a photo of the interior of the Slote Library.

As for the written content, Cheng Zhu scratched his thinning hair, which was already quite thinning despite his young age, and tried his best to write four sentences to express what he wanted to say:

"The teaching building is malfunctioning and we can't go in."

"So the school made us all go to the library to continue studying."

I heard it's going to rain today.

"Anyone else in the forum experiencing the same thing? Let's get together!"

That's right, their code is "rhyming".

Whether it's poetry, lyrics, or just plain conversation, as long as it rhymes, it can be considered something written by one of our own.

This is also why Cheng Zhu had such a headache when he was writing it.

Initially, Mary suggested using a fixed phrase as a code, similar to "You say Imperial Jade Liquor, I say 180 a cup," but it was rejected by Cheng Zhu and Alice because it was too obvious.

However, Alice believes that some content can be retained, such as prefixing the title with "Is anyone still here?" and ending with a certain emotional word, so that it looks like a normal post.

Because it sounded reasonable, it became an alternative option.

Afterwards, Cheng Zhu suggested writing acrostic poems, but Alice objected, arguing that it would be too obvious and that if there was a lot of content to express, it would take a lot of time to write the content after each sentence, which would be very inefficient.

Mary's reaction was: "What's an acrostic poem?"

Cheng Zhu remembered that Mary was an innocent native, unlike Alice who was full of suspicious circumstances, so he patiently explained to her: "It means that you hide what you want to express in the first word of a sentence, and then if you look at each sentence separately, it will be arranged into a sentence."

To make it easier for Mary to understand, Cheng Zhu almost made up an acrostic poem that said "Mary is so handsome".

The reason she didn't come up with one was because Cheng Zhu suddenly realized that... acrostic poems are indeed a bit difficult, especially since she is from the Nine Provinces Kingdom, and most of her poems are five- or seven-character lines. Could the natives of the Smart City really understand them?

"See, I told you, acrostic poems are very difficult."

Alice, gloating from the side, was fiddling with a string of agate beads in her hand: "If everyone can write poetry, then what's the point of having poets?"

Mary suggested another method of using coded language for each sentence: "We can add an onomatopoeic word after each sentence, such as 'ah,' 'ya,' 'ma,' etc. As long as there is an onomatopoeic word after each sentence, it can prove that the sentence is normal and was written by one of our own. Some people just have verbal tics, so it doesn't seem too strange."

Alice did not explicitly object, but she was frowning and thinking about something.

This time, Cheng Zhu raised an objection: "Our previous objection to specific words was to prevent the virus from learning them too easily. If we use a fixed onomatopoeia in every sentence, it feels like it will be easy to imitate."

This is also Alice's concern.

However, Alice thought of another similar method: "Actually, Mary's idea is worth considering. We can rhyme the last word of every sentence, which is what a lot of rappers like to do, and there won't be too many repeated words."
