Chapter 48 Sunny and Cheerful Kindergarten

Apart from that little incident, Yin Zhu slept very well and slept until the next morning.

After unplugging her phone from the charging port, Yin Zhu was once again sincerely grateful that she had brought the charging cable and plug with her; otherwise, she wouldn't even have a flashlight when it got dark.

With a wave, Yin Zhu called over Jing Gui. This time, Yin Zhu's destination was a kindergarten on the map.

To be precise, it's called "Sunshine and Cheerfulness Kindergarten".

As the only kindergarten in Sin City, we are committed to nurturing all children into sunny, cheerful pillars of society.

These words are written on the wall outside the kindergarten.

The kindergarten occupies a considerable area. Even from the outside, you can still see four dilapidated buildings through the fence. Along the corridor with withered plants, you can reach a small pond covered with fallen leaves, and next to it is a small square with many old children's play facilities.

Like every kindergarten, there is a security guard room here. The security guard at the gate is a serious middle-aged woman wearing a thick security uniform. When she saw Yin Zhu, she stopped her with a baton: "This is a kindergarten."

"Hello, I'm here to apply for a job, but I don't know how to get to the HR department."

Yin Zhubin replied politely.

"Oh, is that so? I haven't heard that the kindergarten is hiring any new staff recently." The woman wasn't the elegant career woman; although she was serious, her mannerisms were very down-to-earth. "Young lady, if you're really here to apply for a job, why don't you go in and ask? The HR department is on the first floor of the office building."

"Thank you," Yin Zhu replied politely.

"It's rare to see such polite young people these days." The security guard nodded in agreement as she watched Yin Zhu's retreating figure, but couldn't help feeling a pang of sympathy when she thought about the fate that awaited her.

"Sigh, forget it, let's just ignore her. Anyone who can maintain a certain level of politeness in Sin City is probably no pushover. She might even be a big bully. If something happens to her, it's her own fate."

The security guard had been here for many years and had seen all sorts of people; her sympathy for Yin Zhu was fleeting.

Yin Zhu walked along the dilapidated cobblestone path toward the office building on the east side of the kindergarten. It was much more dilapidated than the temporary apartments for new citizens. Large patches of paint had peeled off the walls, which were covered with traces of rain and wind erosion.

There were no special rules in the office building, and Yin Zhu quickly found the human resources department.

Yin Zhu knocked gently on the door, and after hearing the person inside say "Come in," she pushed the door open.

A man in a suit sat inside, his cold gaze scrutinizing Yin Zhu through his black-rimmed glasses, as if she were already dead. His arms were propped on the table, his gloved hands crossed in front of his mouth; he looked more like some powerful commander-in-chief than a staff member from the personnel department.

"Hello, I'm here to apply for the job."

Yin Zhu didn't pay much attention to those details, but maintained a gentle and generous demeanor, giving some viewers in the live stream a subtle sense of déjà vu.

...

"Am I just imagining things? He looks kind of familiar..."

"Brother, you're not alone!"

"I also feel like I've seen someone with this kind of personality somewhere before..."

"I understand! I finally understand!"

"Now I understand why I had this feeling of déjà vu."

"Understood +1"

"Don't be riddle-makers, tell us what you actually know!"

"Ahem, I'm not trying to be insensitive, it's just that Yin Zhu's demeanor just now was exactly the same as Hirano Sane's attitude towards the indigenous people during her live stream in Japan."

"Yes, Yin Zhu is imitating Hirano Sane's approachability to increase her chances of getting the job."

"Kneel for a second, Zhu Shan."

"Bumping into everything will only harm you!"

Unfortunately, the HR staff didn't improve their attitude much, offering only a slight smile: "Have you ever taken care of children before? Do you have experience? Do you have a place to live?"

"There is a place to stay."

Yin Zhu directly avoided the important questions and ignored the first two.

The HR staff didn't press the issue with the first two answers; clearly, their only goal was to confirm the last point. After hearing Yin Zhu's response, they pulled out a form: "If you have no objections to the contents above, you can sign it directly. The agreement is in duplicate. We will provide you with a one-year work opportunity, and you will need to take care of the children here. During this period, you will need to live in the kindergarten and cannot leave. We will also provide you with three meals a day."

Yin Zhu didn't sign it directly. She took a closer look at the time section of the form, but there was no specific time written on it.

“I can’t do it for a year, at most half a month.” Yin Zhu played the honest card directly, “There’s a guy in Sin City who specializes in killing managers. I don’t know when he’ll target the kindergarten.”

This statement is a direct message.

The HR teacher, who had been sitting calmly, was taken aback, her expression turning somewhat complicated: "How did you know?"

“I’m a new resident. I had three jobs before, and he killed all the bosses. I hadn’t even started the third job yet; the boss had just agreed to let me work the night shift. But that very night, I saw him being killed by that guy, and I was so scared that I ran away.” Yin Zhu exaggerated, counting on her fingers. “Now I’ve been here for several days and haven’t received a single penny of pay. It’s so hard for me.”

The HR staff member was getting restless. However, since Yin Zhu was still there, he didn't leave immediately. Instead, he crossed out the time with his pen and said, "You can resign whenever you want, but you must abide by the kindergarten staff code of conduct during your employment. If you agree, you can become a kindergarten teacher right now."

Yin Zhu quickly glanced at the contents of the paper and signed her name as "Hao Sun".

The teacher from the personnel department handed Yin Zhu a thin handbook, then stood up somewhat anxiously: "Read the rules first, then go to the teaching building and find the grade director. She will tell you the specific tasks."

After saying that, he quickly went out. As the sound of his footsteps faded into the distance, Yin Zhu knew that he had gone to the second floor.

Yin Zhu was a little surprised when she opened the first page of the manual.

It's not for any other reason than that the rules are written in a rather detailed way, and they don't even seem like the kind of rules you'd expect from a mystery novel.
