Chapter 11: Wounds Worsening
Seeing Xu Miaomiao agreed, everyone left reluctantly.
When he returned home, the women were waiting at the door. When they saw the Ganoderma lucidum their men brought back, they were all overjoyed and had long forgotten that Wang Mang was injured.
Xu Miaomiao escorted Wang Mang to the village doctor, and Wang's family hurried over after hearing the news.
Wang Xing'er didn't look happy when she saw Xu Miaomiao. She slapped Xu Miaomiao in the face, but Xu Miaomiao caught it: "Wang Xing'er, what are you doing!"
Wang Xing'er's teeth were chattering, and she stared at Xu Miaomiao intently: "Why is it that everyone else is fine, but my brother is in trouble? Xu Miaomiao, do you dare to say that you didn't do it on purpose?"
Xu Miaomiao shook her hand away and said in a cold tone: "Why is he like this? You have to ask him carefully."
After saying that, he turned and left.
As night fell, when Xu Miaomiao returned home, Erbao was squatting outside the door, drowsy.
"Erbao, why did you fall asleep here?"
Xu Miaomiao went over and picked up Erbao, rubbing her little head affectionately.
The little girl said in a soft voice: "Waiting for mother."
Xu Miaomiao's mouth corners unconsciously lifted, but the words she said were still serious: "From now on, when it gets dark, you are not allowed to wait outside, or the big bad wolf will catch you."
Erbao nodded blankly with a dazed expression, then happily climbed into Xu Miaomiao's arms and greedily sniffed her fragrance.
Xu Miaomiao put the second baby on the bed and took another look at the little baby who was sleeping soundly beside him before leaving with peace of mind.
The noise from the kitchen caught her attention, and as soon as Xu Miaomiao entered the door, her eyes met Dabao's.
Maybe he had just washed the dishes, Dabao's hands were still wet. Xu Miaomiao squatted down and looked at him patiently. It was hard to imagine what a five-year-old child had experienced to be so sensible.
Dabao opened her outstretched hand and ignored her as he walked towards the house.
Xu Miaomiao felt a pang of sadness and distress in her heart.
There was a bowl of rabbit meat and two steamed buns left on the kitchen table. Xu Miaomiao laughed: What a little kid with a hard mouth but a soft heart.
After a tiring day and filling her stomach, Xu Miaomiao took a photo with Song Weiwei who had just gone out.
Song Weiwei was a little impatient. She opened the door with a veil on her body and saw Xu Miaomiao. She said impatiently, "Why are you still here?"
After saying that, Song Weiwei glanced at Xu Miaomiao and cursed in a low voice: Bad luck.
Just as he was about to go to the toilet, a woman blocked him.
Xu Miaomiao looked at her and asked in a somewhat sinister tone: "Who are you saying is unlucky?"
Song Weiwei blushed slightly and said with some stammering: "I, I was just talking about you, what's wrong."
"If it weren't for you, my brother, lying there, Xiaobao would still be unable to speak until now!" Song Weiwei suddenly became confident and said to Xu Miaomiao.
"Hehe." Xu Miaomiao pinched Song Weiwei's collar and said in a sinister tone: "You are sick because of poisoning, it has nothing to do with me!"
"If it weren't for you, he wouldn't eat randomly."
After saying that, Song Weiwei widened her eyes in surprise and covered her mouth.
Xu Miaomiao narrowed her eyes, looked at her and said, "Do you know why he was poisoned?"
Song Weiwei blinked and stammered, "How should I know?"
After saying that, he turned around and left regardless of Xu Miaomiao's temptation.
Three children were curled up in the room and sleeping soundly. The dim light shining on their faces made them look particularly warm.
A warm current passed through Xu Miaomiao's heart. This was probably the beautiful life she had once imagined.
It would be great if Song Wu Shao was awake too. His eyes followed the light to the cheek of the man who was sleeping soundly on the bed.
Xu Miaomiao took out the ointment she had prepared and gently applied it on Song Wushao's face. Seeing that the scars on the man's face had faded a little, Xu Miaomiao smiled knowingly.
He took out another detoxification pill and stuffed it into the man's mouth, then lay down and squeezed together with the man.
"Xu Miaomiao, come out!"
There was a noise outside the door. I opened my hazy eyes and saw that the sky was just getting bright.
Xu Miaomiao put on her coat and went out, only to see Wang Xing'er blocking her door with a wooden stick.
As soon as she came out, he approached her waving a wooden stick and said, "Xu Miaomiao, you have to compensate for my brother's leg."
"What's going on?"
"What's going on?" Wang Xing'er stared at her and said, "My brother is now dead because of you. This is the explanation you have to give!"
Yesterday's memories flooded into her mind, and Xu Miaomiao began to explain: "Hasn't he been sent to the village doctor? Why is he lame?"
"Then I would like to ask what medicine you used on my brother that made his wound worse."
Xu Miaomiao didn't want to waste words with her and said, "Where is he? I'll go check it out."
He put on his clothes, pushed away Wang Xing'er who was blocking his way and walked towards the village doctor.
As soon as I arrived in the yard, a tearing scream echoed in the air.
Inside the house, the smell of medicine and blood filled the air.
An old man with a white beard was squatting and boiling medicine, and Wang Mang was lying on the bed not far away, howling.
“Oh, that hurts.”
Wang Mang rolled around on the bed, holding his right leg.
Xu Miaomiao walked in and saw that the originally bloody thigh was covered with a thick layer of herbs.
"Sir, what's the condition of his leg?"
"Alas." The old man stroked his beard and said, "I don't know how his legs got stained with lime, so we can only remove the rotten flesh."
"Lime?" Xu Miaomiao was a little surprised. She had applied hemostatic powder on him yesterday, so how could it be stained with lime?
"It was you, Xu Miaomiao." Wang Xing'er stepped forward and pointed at Xu Miaomiao and said, "It was you who sprinkled lime powder on my brother's legs."
"Impossible." Xu Miaomiao explained, "I just applied some bleeding medication."
Wang Xing'er stared at Xu Miaomiao and refused to let go: "It's you. Who else would do this except you? I want everyone to judge for themselves."
Then she pulled Xu Miaomiao out of the house, called a crowd over, and started crying: "Everyone come and take a look, it was she who sprinkled lime powder on my brother's legs, which is why my brother is lame."
As she spoke, Wang Xing'er squeezed out a few tears.
"Hey, I seemed to see Madam Song sprinkle something on Wang Mang's legs yesterday."
Xu Miaomiao sighed. When will these people change their habit of believing everything they hear?
Seeing someone come forward, Wang Xing'er bit Xu Miaomiao tightly and said in a hoarse voice: "Miss Xu, even if you hate me, you shouldn't take advantage of others' misfortune and harm my brother like this."
Others who went hunting in the forest yesterday also stood up and said, "Yes, Madam Song, Wang Mang is the only young male in their family. You are too cruel."
Xu Miaomiao remained silent, smiling bitterly in her heart.
"What are you guys arguing about in front of this old man!"
The village doctor walked out with a staggering step and scolded everyone.
Because he was a highly respected elder in the village, everyone fell silent when he arrived.
"I heard what you said just now. The lime was not made by Madam Song."
Hearing this, Wang Xing'er cried and said, "The evidence is all there, how can it be fake?"
"Yes, sir, I saw it with my own eyes yesterday." The man next to him echoed.
The old man stroked his beard and said, "Then you should thank Madam Song."
Wang Xing'er was stunned: "What do you mean?"
"When I was treating Wang Mang's wound yesterday, I found that it was fortunate that someone had sprinkled some hemostatic powder on his legs, so that the condition did not worsen."
"It's impossible that Wang Mang put the lime on his leg himself."
The man at the side asked, and Wang Xing'er, who was lying on the ground, had her eyes flickering.
"The only person who helped here yesterday was Madam Wang."
"Heh." Xu Miaomiao glanced at Wang Xing'er with disdain and said sarcastically, "I underestimated Madam Wang. She even disregarded her own brother's life in order to frame me."
