Chapter 24 New Deskmate

Chapter 24 New Deskmate

The holiday is over and it’s the first day of class.

After the morning reading, the students did not lie down on the table to sleep as usual, but gathered in groups of three or two to discuss homework.

"How about this question? Did you do it?"

"I've finished the first question, but the second question is simply incomprehensible!"

"And that physics paper? I feel like I've lost all my strength. If anyone has done it, please copy it for me."

"It's okay, it won't be your turn to be last anyway."

"The class representative is here!"

Several class representatives came out of the teacher's office and went straight back to the classroom. "Hand in the homework to the first desk. Hurry up, I need to get it to the office before class starts."

Amidst everyone's complaints, the class representative collected all the homework without mercy.

Cen Nian sat down, ready for class. The first class was Jin Qi's Chinese. She routinely told him that the holiday was over and he should focus on his studies. She looked around and said, "By the way, we'll be changing seats for the afternoon class meeting. Get ready."

"Ah! We're actually changing positions!"

Jin Qi's usually serious face suddenly smiled: "Xue Xiangzhi, you don't want to change because you can chat in your current seat, right?"

Xue Xiangzhi chuckled: "Not really!"

The class burst into laughter, and Cen Nian couldn't help but smile. She found that Teacher Jin would occasionally come up with some dry humor, which formed a contrast with her serious appearance.

*

During the afternoon class meeting, everyone was eagerly awaiting the new seating chart. Jin Qi walked into the classroom slowly, a piece of paper in her hand. She picked up the magnet on the podium and pasted the seating chart on the bulletin board next to her. "Come up and see for yourself."

As soon as he finished speaking, the whole class rushed forward, except for a few who sat calmly in their seats.

Jin Qi shook his head helplessly: "Stop pushing and causing trouble!"

"Oh my god, how am I supposed to sit with him?"

"Ah! Pingfang and I have been separated."

Jin Qi folded his arms across his chest and watched their movements calmly.

Tong Yue and Zhu Zhiyao couldn't hold back any longer, so they both ran forward to check the seating chart. Cen Nian didn't move. She wasn't familiar with the people in the class yet, so she didn't dare to squeeze into the crowd.

Zhu Zhiyao came back in a hurry and winked at Cen Nian: "Something big has happened!"

She deliberately lowered her tone, and Cen Nian had to lower her voice as well: "What's wrong? Can I sit with you?"

Zhu Zhiyao shook her head: "Not really!" She added: "But we are very close, sitting at the tables in front and behind each other, hehe."

Cen Nian secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She didn't want to be too far away from her good friend. But the next second, Zhu Zhiyao slowly said, "You've changed your deskmate."

"?"

"Your deskmate is..." Zhu Zhiyao cunningly dragged out the last syllable of her words: "Jin Siyang."

"What!" Cen Nian blurted out without lowering her voice. Song Ze turned around and glanced at her: "What's wrong? Who are you sitting with? Why are you so excited?"

"I didn't!" No excitement.

Cen Nian was so anxious that a faint blush appeared on her cheeks.

Her new deskmate turned out to be Jin Siyang!

After hearing the news, Cen Nian couldn't sit still. She glanced at the young man next to her. He leaned back in his chair calmly, slowly turning a pen in his hand.

Qin Zhouyan looked at the seating chart and ran down, saying to him, "Si Yang, you've changed your deskmate."

He leaned closer to Jin Siyang: "Your new deskmate is Xiao Nian Nian."

Jin Siyang paused as he twirled the pen in his hand, then continued spinning it again. "Can you speak normally?"

Qin Zhouyan raised his eyebrows, with a bit of gossip in his mind. He put his arm around Jin Siyang's shoulder and said, "But I'm next door to you, so the distance is not bad."

The people looking at the seating chart gradually dispersed. Jin Qi leaned on the podium and said, "Everyone has finished looking. Let's start changing seats."

Cen Nian packed up the books on the table, said goodbye to Tong Yue again, and finally walked to the second to last table in the first group. The first group was by the window, so she was arranged to sit inside.

Jin Siyang placed a stack of test papers on the table and threw the books into his bag. There was no emotion on his face, and he always seemed to be indifferent.

Cen Nian sat in her new seat, with a shadow cast by her peripheral vision. Jin Siyang stood beside her seat, put the book into the drawer, then took a long stride and sat next to her.

He sat down neither too hard nor too soft, stirring up a gust of wind that carried a pleasant smell.

Cen Nian held the pen, motionless.

After changing seats, Zhu Zhiyao's new deskmate was Zhou Ran, a tall and thin boy who wore black-framed glasses. He was good at science and his grades ranked in the top ten in the class.

Zhu Zhiyao is a person who is a bit familiar with everyone, but she only chatted briefly with her new deskmate and no longer went to the back table to chat with Cen Nian as she did in the past.

Finally, school was over in the afternoon. Zhu Zhiyao took advantage of the break between meals with Cen Nian to complain: "Jin Siyang has such a strong aura that I dare not provoke him. I don't even dare to turn around and talk to you, because as soon as I turn my head, I will see this cold Buddha."

Cen Nian agreed deeply: "Actually, I didn't dare to say much."

“Puff.”

Cen Nian and Zhu Zhiyao subconsciously turned around. Qin Zhouyan and Jin Siyang, holding the plates in one hand, happened to walk behind them while looking for a seat. They overheard their conversation, and Qin Zhouyan couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Cen Nian was so embarrassed that he almost wanted to find a hole to hide in. He felt very uncomfortable and just ended it all like this.

Zhu Zhiyao grabbed the chopsticks, turned her head silently, and closed her eyes heavily.

"I feel like dying." Zhu Zhiyao said silently, gritting her teeth.

Cen Nian smiled bitterly: "Actually, me too."

It turns out that you can't say bad things about people behind their backs.

Jin Siyang was sitting there eating. When he heard those words, he became calm, as if he was not the main character in their conversation.

Qin Zhouyan couldn't help laughing: "I can't help it. You said Xiao Niannian and Zhu Zhiyao were quite interesting. Don't you say that this description is quite appropriate. You are such a big iceberg sitting there, it scares people to death."

Jin Siyang ate his rice and reached out to take the braised lion's head from Qin Zhou's flame plate.

Qin Zhouyan was still laughing, but the next second he couldn't laugh anymore: "Damn it! I ran for a long time before I finally got one, Jin Siyang, I'm going to kill you."

Jin Siyang raised his eyebrows and took a bite of the lion's head: "I thought you weren't hungry."

"I hate you!"

Jin Siyang became interested and nodded in praise as if pretending to enjoy the food. "No wonder they say Lion's Head is the specialty of the Affiliated High School cafeteria. It's quite good."

"hehe!"

Because of what happened in the cafeteria, Cen Nian was even more like a mouse when he returned to his seat. Their two tables were next to each other, but the dividing line seemed clearer than that of any other table.

The classroom is not very quiet. In addition to doing homework during evening self-study, the affiliated high school will arrange two subject teachers to sit outside the classroom door every day. Students can ask questions at any time if they have questions or want to answer questions.

There are no special restrictions in the class. You can walk around and ask your classmates questions, and you can also discuss, but the prerequisite is that you speak quietly enough. However, most people choose to talk outside the classroom.

So apart from the rustling sound of pages turning and the voices coming from outside, there was no other sound.

Cen Nian was in trouble again. In the past, she would have asked Tong Yue and Zhu Zhiyao directly, but after the cafeteria incident in the afternoon, Cen Nian and Zhu Zhiyao felt so guilty that they didn't speak to each other the whole night.
