Chapter 7 New Classmates

Chapter 7 New Classmates

The principal of the affiliated high school was cheerful. He was not very tall and had a slightly protruding belly, but his cheeks were a little flushed when he smiled, and with a few sparse strands of hair on his forehead, he looked somewhat amiable and funny.

Sun Zhongru said in a gentle voice, "Student Cen Nian, right? Mr. Jin has already contacted me. Don't worry, your homeroom teacher will take you directly to the classroom later."

"The environment in our affiliated high school is quite good, and the students love each other very much." Sun Zhongru added, "I've seen your previous grades, and they're quite good. Work hard, and you'll definitely be in the top ten."

Cen Nian agreed with a smile, feeling ashamed in his heart. The principal was really good at comforting people. He was a good principal, Cen Nian thought to himself.

Sun Zhongru introduced the history of the Affiliated High School and discussed its past college entrance exam scores. He spoke with sincerity and confidence, "Our Affiliated High School has produced many dark horses. Last year's top scorer in the liberal arts department had an admission score in the bottom 200 of her grade. After three years of hard work, she was admitted to the Chinese Department of Peking University with a score of 685."

"Student Cen Nian, you can trust our teachers at the Affiliated High School, but you also have to trust yourself."

The principal was worthy of being the principal. He could see Cen Nian's timidity and fear at a glance. He did not put extra pressure on her, nor did he talk about the degree of involution in each grade of the affiliated high school. Instead, he encouraged Cen Nian with many examples.

But Cen Nian knew that those dark horses must have made extreme efforts, endured a lot of hardships, and finally reached the top.

She was grateful to Principal Sun and thanked him for his comfort.

After chatting for nearly ten minutes, a female teacher wearing a smart short-sleeved shirt and black suit pants walked in. She had a high bun on her head, a thin figure, and a pair of gold-rimmed glasses on her oval face. She looked young, but very imposing.

Sun Zhongru said with a smile, "Student Cen Nian, this is your future homeroom teacher, Jin Qi. She teaches Chinese and is in charge of Class 7, Grade 12. Class 7 is also our key science class in Grade 12."

Cen Nian bowed slightly: "Hello, Teacher Jin."

Jin Qi smiled and nodded: "That's perfect. Before the first class starts, I'll take you to the classroom."

Cen Nian nodded, and then followed behind Jin Qi. Her eyes fell on the thin figure in front of her. Although Jin Qi was thin, he looked very energetic. She remembered that Principal Sun had just introduced that Jin Qi was also a student of the Affiliated High School and the first dark horse of the Affiliated High School.

When she entered the university, she ranked 590th in the entire class, which had only 700 students. She was later admitted to the Department of Literature of Peking University with the top score in liberal arts, and then directly admitted to Peking University as a graduate student. After graduation, she returned to her alma mater and was named an outstanding advanced teacher in Jiang City in just two years.

Jin Qi spoke clearly and with great vigor, "The principal has just introduced the affiliated high school to you, right?"

"Yes, the principal gave a detailed introduction."

Jin Qi nodded. "The students in Class 7 are all good, but it's a key class, so the atmosphere can be a bit depressing sometimes. You've just transferred here, so if you have any problems adapting, you can tell me. Don't keep it in your heart."

Cen Nian's nervousness subsided a little: "I understand. Thank you, teacher."

After the morning reading, the students in Class 7 finished a piece of the tea, and the remaining few either went to the toilet or went out to get water.

Jin Qi walked into the classroom just as the bell rang. Everyone stood up slowly and packed up their books. Until Jin Qi came in, everyone's eyes were focused on Cen Nian.

"Who is it?"

"I don't know him."

"Could it be that he transferred here?"

Jin Qi's expression was more solemn than before. "Before class, I have an announcement for you all. We have a new student named Cen Nian. We'll be studying with you all from now on."

After two seconds of silence, the class burst into applause: "Welcome, welcome."

Cen Nian was a little embarrassed, but still greeted everyone with a smile.

Jin Qi pointed to the second to last table in the third group and said, "There's still a seat there. Please sit down first and we'll change seats later."

She walked in the direction Jin Qi pointed. Each class had four groups, with two students sitting together. Because there were too many textbooks, many books were placed in the aisle, making the entire classroom look full.

"Hey, which school did she go to before? How come she ended up in our key class right after transferring?"

"I don't know? Maybe he's a great god, otherwise how could he be in Class 7."

Cen Nian's ears turned slightly red. She felt that the people around her looked at her with a little more respect for the great god, but she was not a great god!

She's just a small fry.

Cen Nian’s deskmate is a cute girl with short hair that reaches her shoulders. Her bangs just cover her eyebrows. Her hair is black and shiny. She has a fair baby face and her eyes sparkle with curiosity.

"Hello, my name is Cen Nian. Please give me your guidance."

"Puchi! Classmate Cen Nian, you're so official~" The girl smiled, her cheeks puffed out slightly. "My name is Tong Yue, Tong as in childhood, Yue next to the character Wang. I'm very happy to be your deskmate."

Tong Yue spoke to Cen Nian in a low voice. While the teacher was not there, the two of them spoke in voices like little mice eating.

Cen Nian found that the table next to him, which was across the aisle from him, was empty, but there were a few books, a scattered test paper, and a fountain pen on the table.

Is this person late?

Before she could think about it, the math teacher walked in. The math teacher was tall and a bit strong. Perhaps because he was late, he spoke a little hurriedly: "Open the textbook to page three."

As if remembering something, he said, "No need to introduce yourself, right? You wouldn't have forgotten me after more than a month of summer vacation."

The class burst into laughter.

Tong Yue chuckled softly and said, "This is our math teacher, Liu Chao. We were separated into different classes at the end of the second semester of our senior year. We had a make-up class for half a month in July."

“So you’ll find that there are some people in the class that you know well, but there are also some that you don’t.”

Cen Nian nodded in understanding: "So that's how it is."

Liu Chao glanced around and his gaze fell on the back. Tong Yue and Cen Nian didn't dare to say anything more. Liu Chao rolled his eyes and looked at the empty seat: "Where is that person? Even later than me?"

Liu Chao is a humorous person. His few short sentences, coupled with a joking tone, always make people in the class laugh.

Liu Chao took a deep breath and was about to say something when there was a knock at the door.

"Report."

The young man's clear voice came from the door. His slightly deep voice was full of vigor and vitality, and there was a feeling between youthfulness and calmness.

He knocked on the door with his fingers, and the youthful vigor could not be hidden between his eyebrows.

Liu Chao pretended to blame: "Jin Siyang, you came later than me."

"Feel sorry."

"Come in."

Almost for an instant, Cen Nian's eyes were fixed on the tall and thin figure at the door. He walked in against the light, the wind blowing slightly lifted the corner of his clothes, and he was getting closer and closer.

Jin Siyang just glanced at her indifferently, then looked away as if it was nothing important. He brought up a gust of wind and sat in the empty seat just now, only a narrow aisle away from Cen Nian.

There seemed to be a faint scent of orange in the air.
