Chapter Twenty-Five: Nie Yan is a Little Foodie

A burly young man ran over from a distance, arms outstretched, lunging at Qin Mo. His mischievous smile was quite amusing. But Qin Mo didn't let him succeed; she dodged aside, leaving him empty-handed.

"Mozi, what are you doing? I've missed you so much, brother!" The young man looked at Qin Mo with a resentful expression, just like a prostitute abandoned in a brothel. However, combined with his muscular physique, it was just a funny sight.

Qin Mo completely ignored this guy. Three years ago, when he came to the capital to pay homage to the new emperor, this guy took him to a brothel in a daze. His father, Qin Lan, caught him red-handed, and the only beating he ever received in his life was thanks to this guy.

Seeing that his attempt to play the victim had failed, the young man turned around with a bright smile and started chattering away without any hesitation. He then put his arm around Qin Mo's shoulder. This time, Qin Mo didn't flinch, since she didn't remember having many friends, and this was one of her closest ones.

"Qin Yumu, I remember you're not the heir of the Marquis of Kaiyang, are you? What brings you here this time? Are you trying to earn some military merits in the north?"

"Waaah! I woke up with tears streaming down my face. My older brother broke his leg in a horse-riding accident, and my grandmother really likes me, so the title of heir apparent ended up on my head!" Qin Yumu continued her rant.

Qin Yumu was the second son of the Marquis of Kaiyang, and a distant cousin of Qin Lan, both belonging to the royal family. They hit it off immediately after meeting three years ago. Qin Mo, on the other hand, was a carefree official who did nothing but cultivate and had never had any playmates who would get together and cause trouble. For a while, the group ran rampant in the capital until Qin Lan taught Qin Mo a lesson.

"Your older brother doesn't know martial arts? How did he break his leg?"

"He's completely ignorant of martial arts. He's already at the Yellow Realm. Although his talent isn't as good as mine, he's still excellent. Humph! If he's afraid of death, so be it! He's making up such a lame excuse."

Qin Mo understood immediately. She had only one brother, no siblings, and was utterly alone. But even in aristocratic families, having many brothers didn't guarantee harmonious family ties. It was not uncommon for blood relatives to turn against each other for their own interests, and scheming and sabotage were commonplace.

"Mozi, I've already reached the peak of the Yellow Realm. This time, if you follow your brother, no demon or monster can harm you." Qin Yumu said smugly, as if to say, "Come and praise me! ...Come and praise me!"

But Qin Mo didn't praise him, because his words had stirred up some fragments of memory. Those events were deeply imprinted in the memories Qin Mo had absorbed, indicating that he had been extremely ruthless and cruel.
