This morning, Lu Yao secretly bought another Ferrari without telling his family.
Fearing being scolded by her parents, she came to Li Baobei's apartment, intending to hide there for a few days first.
When she saw Li Baobei's pale face, she was startled. She reached out and touched her burning forehead. "Oh no!"
They quickly took Li Baobei to the hospital, where she was in a dazed and confused state.
He fell into a deep sleep while lying in the hospital bed.
In her dream, she saw that figure again; the man with the indistinct face was holding her, and she felt so happy.
But for some reason, a bitter feeling kept welling up in her heart, making it hard for her to breathe.
A moment later, the man disappeared, and the surroundings turned pitch black. She could see some faint lights in the distance.
She looked up and saw He Ji. She would never forget that familiar face in her life. He Ji stood in the distant light and turned back to look at her deeply.
She said, "You must take good care of yourself from now on. I love you~"
Then he turned and walked forward. Li Baobei chased after him desperately, but found that she could not catch up with him no matter what she did.
Guan Liang gradually disappeared, his entire being swallowed by darkness.
No~
"Don't leave me."
"He Ji~ please, I love you... really~ I like you so much~"
Waaaaah...
She knelt on the ground, looking at the pitch-black surroundings, feeling as if there was no warmth at all, and screamed hysterically.
But He Ji never appeared again.
He Ji stood by Li Baobei's hospital bed, looking at her furrowed brows with fear, and felt a sharp pain in his heart, a thousand times more intense than any other pain.
He gently took her hand, his bloodless lips kissing her forehead, his eyes full of doting affection, and whispered, "You must take good care of yourself from now on. I love you."
Hearing footsteps outside, He Ji reluctantly let go of her hand, put on a mask, and walked outside.
Lu Yao, holding a bouquet of roses, walked along the hospital corridor, puzzled. He brushed past He Ji and carefully examined the roses in his hand.
He counted them, and there were exactly ninety-nine flowers, no more, no less. "How romantic!" Lu Yao couldn't help but feel envious.
Who exactly is it?
"How did she know the baby was hospitalized? She even specially ordered flowers."
"A suitor for my darling?" She nodded. "Probably."
She entered the ward and placed the roses on Li Baobei's bedside table. Looking at the person with her eyes closed on the bed, Lu Yao couldn't help but frown and plead, "Wake up soon, baby, my poor little thing."
It was already the second day.
Li Baobei struggled to open her eyes, feeling a sharp pain in her eyelids. She stared blankly at the ceiling, "He Ji, what did I owe you in my past life that makes me so sad even in my dreams?"
She felt her eyes were dry and couldn't cry out a single tear.
When Lu Yao returned with breakfast, he saw Li Baobei staring blankly at the ceiling and knew something was wrong.
Could my baby's high fever have confused him or made him delirious?
She quickly placed the breakfast on the table, ran over, and called out, "Honey, how are you?"
She waved her hand in front of Li Baobei's eyes, instantly pulling Li Baobei back to reality. Looking at Lu Yao in front of her, the pain in her heart resurfaced.
No matter what, life goes on.
Li Baobei returned to work and tried her best to enrich herself every day. She either went to work or slept, and even worked overtime at the company on weekends.
That way, I won't think about that person anymore.
In the time that followed, He Ji seemed to have completely disappeared from his life, as if he had never existed.
He Ji lay on the hospital bed, his body emaciated. He was tormented by excruciating pain every day, the pain lashing at him again and again.
But he still felt it wasn't painful enough; compared to the pain he had caused her, it was nothing.
Every morning he would go to where Li Baobei took the bus and wait for her, then watch her get on the bus and follow behind her, as if that was enough to make him happy.
Guan Ye looked at He Ji lying on the hospital bed and completely broke down.
No matter what, He Ji was unwilling to go abroad for treatment. Although there were no cases of a complete cure for this disease, it could still extend the life of those who had it by a few years.
But He Ji is such a stubborn guy. He tried everything to persuade him, but He Ji still didn't seem to have any intention of going abroad. Now he just felt like he had reached a dead end.
He didn't want to watch his good friend die in such pain. There was no other way; it seemed the only option was...
Guan Ye continued, unwilling to give up, "He Ji, even if it's not for your own sake, but for Li Baobei's sake, you should go abroad for treatment. What if you get better?"
He Ji stared at the photos on his phone, looking at his former self and the person in his arms.
It all seems like a dream; when you wake up, everything will vanish without a trace.
All the good things will disappear—mother, family, and her…
His thoughts were interrupted by Guan Ye's voice. He raised his dull eyes to look at Guan Ye, wanting to say something, but he seemed to have no strength left, and in the end he remained silent.
"If you love each other, why let go?" Guan Ye said this with a very heavy tone.
A glimmer of light flashed in He Ji's eyes, but it vanished in an instant, leaving only endless pain.
He Ji said calmly, "I don't want her to be sad after I leave. This is the best outcome."
"What the hell!" Guan Ye was so angry at He Ji's thought process that he was about to explode. What time is it now and he's still thinking about whether the other person will be sad in the future?
