Chapter 81 I Don't Want to Repeat It a Second Time

Li Baobei tidied up the documents on the floor.

I walked cautiously toward the manager's office and knocked on the door.

"Knock knock knock~"

A few seconds of silence followed in the room, and Li Baobei's face grew even paler, an awkward atmosphere filling the air.

...

A voice slowly came from inside, "Come in."

She finally breathed a sigh of relief, tidied her hair, rubbed her face, and when she felt less stiff, she opened the door and went inside, putting on a professional fake smile.

Helpless, helpless...

"Manager He, excuse me, I'd like to ask if this plan is feasible? If so, how should we proceed with it?" After saying that, she gently placed the documents in her hand in front of He Ji.

He Ji didn't look up, continuing to look at the computer, and said in a calm tone, "Close the door."

"Huh? Oh~" Li Baobei immediately went over and closed the door.

The smile on his face froze, his expression became incredibly stiff, only his eyes were still blinking, and he was looking down at the floor.

He Ji slightly raised his eyes, staring coldly at the woman standing in front of him.

His eyes flickered slightly as he thought, "Is this what a top student from SS University looks like? How come they seem so flashy and impractical? Are company entry requirements so low these days?"

Li Baobei looked up and met He Ji's scrutinizing gaze. She was momentarily stunned and wondered to herself, "Why does he seem so familiar to me?"

She hurriedly looked away and said, "Manager He, I'd like to ask how this plan will be implemented? I've only been with the company for a short time and I'm not very familiar with many of the business operations yet. Thank you for your help, Manager He."

Li Baobei felt like she was digging her toes out of a three-bedroom apartment. Manager He was far too serious, to the point of being frightening.

He You picked up the documents on the table and began to slowly flip through them.

A hint of admiration flickered in his cold gaze, but his tone remained indifferent: "Did you write this proposal?"

"Hmm." Li Baobei spoke cautiously. She didn't know much about Manager He in front of her yet, but she felt he was very scary and had to be careful.

Seeing that He Ji hadn't spoken for a while, Li Baobei's heart started to pound, and she said anxiously, "If Manager He thinks it's not good, I'll take it down and revise it."

"No need, just leave the documents here!" He Ji said indifferently, without a trace of emotion.

Li Baobei was shocked. "It's over..."

She quickly asked, "Was there something I did wrong?" Her eyes were filled with urgent stubbornness as she finally looked directly at the man sitting in front of her.

He Ji found it amusing, "This woman looks rather dull-witted."

In a casual tone, he retorted, "I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Do you think there's anything that's not good enough?"

Li Baobei's eyes widened instantly, looking at He Ji with confusion. After a three-second pause, she suddenly understood, "Thank you, Manager He. I'll go now, haha~"

The coldness in He Ji's eyes faded slightly as he stared at the woman walking away. A slight smile played on his lips as he said self-deprecatingly, "It doesn't seem so flashy and impractical after all... I really was judging people with my eyes closed."

He smiled helplessly, a pang of guilt rising in his heart, and stared blankly at the document in his hand.

Li Baobei turned around stiffly like a wooden doll and walked out, carefully closing the door behind her.

"Good heavens, does he have to be so cold-hearted! Just because he's handsome doesn't mean he can justify stabbing people. It's outrageous." Li Baobei pouted and muttered to herself about He Ji.

If He Ji's gaze could kill, I would have died hundreds of times over.

I will definitely try to stay away from He Ji from now on; he is truly terrifying.

"But...why does he look so familiar? I feel like I know him so well. Could he be...my dream lover?"

"Haha~ How boring, how could my dream girl be such a big block of ice?"

"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"

In the days that followed, Li Baobei worked diligently and conscientiously, and because of her outstanding work ability, she was treated warmly by most of her colleagues.

That day, Li Baobei was diligently revising a document sent by He Ji. Because it was quite tricky, she was still working overtime at the company until 8 p.m.

Gradually, she felt a little tired, so she stood up and went to the water dispenser to get a cup of hot water to drink.

"It should be finished by tomorrow, I'm such a little genius! Li Baobei, you're awesome!" She cheered herself on, then picked up her phone and glanced at it, "WTF, it's ten o'clock..."

"Oh no, oh no!"

Li Baobei quickly grabbed her handbag, took the elevator to the first floor, and hurriedly ran towards the bus stop. She looked up and saw the bus that had just started moving.

She shouted, "Hey~ wait for me... wait..."

She ran and shouted, but accidentally stepped on something hard, twisted her ankle, and fell.

"It hurts~"

Before she could even focus on the pain in her body, she quickly looked up and watched as the last bus drove away right before her eyes.

"I'm truly impressed..."

She gasped in exasperation, only to discover that her knees and palms were scraped, with faint, bright red marks seeping out.

"Ouch!" she cried out, her breathing becoming rapid.

She continued to struggle to stand up, but the pain in her body kept stimulating her, and her eyes involuntarily reddened as she lamented, "This fall might have even knocked my soul out of my body."

She endured the discomfort and took a difficult step forward. As soon as one foot touched the ground, the pain struck, and she felt weak and collapsed again.

A chill ran down my spine. "I really should have checked the almanac before going out today." I closed my eyes, waiting for the pain to strike again.
