Side Story 5: Princess Ping Le's Story [The End]

As the wheels rolled, the carriage slowly moved forward along the road, the towering and sturdy city walls behind them gradually becoming smaller and farther away, as if everything familiar around them was also gradually moving away from them.

Sitting in the carriage, Li Baobei couldn't help but feel a faint sense of melancholy.

Perhaps this is just human nature; when leaving the place where one grew up, there will always be some lingering emotions that are hard to let go of.

"Don't be sad. No matter when or where, as long as you want to come back, I will come back with you." He You gently reached out and stroked her hair, softly comforting her.

"Mmm..." Li Baobei responded softly, resting her head gently on He You's broad chest, quietly feeling his body temperature and breath.

That warmth, like the spring sunshine, soothed her soul and made her feel incredibly at ease.

Just then, as if remembering something important, Li Baobei suddenly raised her head and asked expectantly, "Heyou, will we be passing by that temple later? The one called Qianyuan Temple!"

He You nodded slightly in affirmation: "Yes."

Upon hearing this answer, Li Baobei's eyes lit up instantly, revealing excitement and joy.

She blinked her pretty eyes and pleaded earnestly, "Then, may we go in and take a look?"

He You looked at her joyful expression and a doting smile appeared on his lips.

He reached out and ruffled her hair again, saying firmly, "I will do my best to fulfill any wish you have."

The beautifully decorated carriage moved slowly along the road and finally came to a steady stop next to an ancient and solemn temple.

The carriage curtain was gently lifted, and a petite and adorable figure eagerly stepped out of the car—it was Li Baobei.

She held He You's hand tightly and walked happily toward Qianyuan Temple.

Li Baobei has special and profound memories of this temple.

She especially couldn't forget the highly respected Master Jikong.

If it weren't for the master's generous gift of that mysterious safety buckle back then, I probably would have met with misfortune in the vortex of fate long ago.

Stepping into the temple, one is surrounded by a tranquil and serene environment, with ancient trees reaching for the sky and incense smoke curling upwards.

Occasionally, a few pilgrims would pass by in a hurry, their faces revealing a sense of piety and anticipation.

Li Baobei's lips curled up slightly, revealing a faint smile.

Everything before her eyes seemed as unreal as a dream, yet this was the ending she had hoped for, something she had never even imagined.

Everything was perfect, so perfect it seemed unreal.

The two went together to the meditation room where they had met Master Jikong before, but they did not see him.

A slight sense of disappointment welled up in Li Baobei's heart.

I had originally planned to thank the master in person, but now it seems I can only keep this gratitude deep in my heart.

But then I thought, everything in the world has its destiny, so why be so attached to it?

After thinking for a moment, Li Baobei turned to He You and said, "Why don't we go to the Buddhist temple and make a wish?"

He You nodded gently, and the two walked hand in hand toward the Buddhist hall.

The two slowly turned around and walked towards the Buddhist hall.

As soon as she stepped across the threshold, Li Baobei saw a face that made her heart tremble—Princess Ping Le.

Ping Le was also surprised to find that Li Baobei was still alive.

Her pupils dilated instantly, and she stared in astonishment at the person who had "come back to life" before her.

In the center of the courtyard, under an ancient tree, a rare glimmer of life finally appeared in Ping Le's previously empty and lifeless eyes.

Li Baobei is actually alive! That's wonderful!

The thought of how foolish and ignorant she had been in the past sent a shiver down Ping Le's spine.

Looking back now, everything seems as fleeting and ephemeral as smoke, so why be so attached to it?

Everything is nothingness.

"sorry……"

Ping Le's hoarse voice slowly rose, her eyes gradually reddening and moistening, but she still gritted her teeth, forcing herself not to let the tears fall.

Because she knew all too well that she had made too many irreparable mistakes.

Now, she devoutly chants scriptures and worships Buddha every day, hoping that Heaven can forgive her past sins.

Looking at Princess Ping Le, who was no longer the same as before, Li Baobei fell into silence.

Perhaps she once harbored resentment towards Ping Le, but at this moment, that hatred has long since vanished.

In this established story, isn't Ping Le also a victim?

He was obsessed with love but could not get it, and eventually went astray and lost himself.

In comparison, Li Baobei felt incredibly lucky.

Li Baobei slowly opened her lips, her voice so soft it was almost inaudible: "I don't blame you anymore..."

Before she finished speaking, she turned and left, her steps somewhat heavy.

She really didn't know how to face Ping Le, and she couldn't completely eliminate that slight barrier deep in her heart.

However, all she could do was choose to forgive and stop dwelling on the past grievances.

Watching the receding figure, Ping Le stood quietly in place, tears finally streaming down her face like a burst dam.

Thank goodness you're alright.

sorry......

The carriage continued on its way into the distance, its wheels rolling and kicking up a cloud of dust.

Under the azure sky, the faint wisp of dust left on the road seemed to silently record the traces of a horse-drawn carriage that had once traveled here...
