Chapter 417 is about the person I like.

He needs to calm down and adjust his emotions as soon as possible.

He couldn't let his emotions affect Li Chenglin, nor could he let them affect Su Su's surgery.

A moment later, Li Yulin opened his eyes again, his eyes no longer filled with panic, but with a firmness.

He picked up his phone and dialed Li Chenglin's number again.

The call was connected.

"Big brother, it's me."

His voice was still hoarse, but it no longer trembled.

"Come back as soon as possible, there's something very important that I need your help with."

A slightly puzzled voice came from the other end of the phone.

"What's the rush? I have a very important project right now..."

Before Li Chenglin could finish speaking, Li Yulin interrupted him.

"It's about... a very important friend of mine."

He paused, his tone strained.

"She...she needs your help to perform surgery."

Li Yulin's heart was pounding, and his palms were slightly sweaty.

He knew that what he was about to say would determine whether Li Chenglin would rush back immediately.

He took a deep breath, his tone becoming more urgent, even pleading.

"Brother, this friend is...very important to me."

He practically gritted his teeth as he uttered his last words.

"I...I like her."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone.

Then, Li Chenglin's voice rang out again. Although his tone was still somewhat hesitant, he no longer made excuses as before.

"Okay, I'll arrange it as soon as possible."

After hanging up the phone, Li Yulin leaned back in his chair, feeling utterly exhausted.

Li Susu returned to the hotel, clutching her room key tightly in her hand.

She felt exhausted and just wanted to go back to her room to rest.

My fingertips touched the cold metal of the doorknob, and a chill ran through my body.

Just as she was about to open the door, the door to the room next door opened.

Chen Ke came out of the room.

He seemed to have been waiting for her.

"Arno," Chen Ke called out to her, his tone tinged with concern, "Shall we go down for dinner together?"

Li Susu shook her head and forced a smile.

"No, I'm a little tired and want to rest."

She just wanted to be alone and think about everything that had happened that day.

Chen Ke looked at her slightly pale face, a hint of worry flashing between his brows.

"You don't look well, what's wrong?" he asked with concern.

Li Susu looked at him with a complicated expression.

She recalled what she had heard at the Under Armour clinic, and the doctor's hesitant expression.

A strange unease welled up inside me.

She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down.

“Chen Ke,” she looked at him, her voice low, “did you already know… that the blood clot in my brain was fatal?”

Her voice was soft, yet it was like a pebble that stirred up a thousand waves in Chen Ke's heart.

Chen Ke's eyes flashed, a hint of panic flickering in them, like a soap bubble bursting, gone in an instant.

He subconsciously took a half step back, his Adam's apple bobbing.

He was a doctor, and he saved Li Susu because her memory was gradually fading. This special case made him want to study it more.

He knew Li Susu's current situation; he knew that the blood clot was like a time bomb, which could take her life at any moment.

Seeing his shifty eyes and evasive gaze, Li Susu's last glimmer of hope vanished.

She took a deep breath, trying to control her trembling voice.

"Why? Why did you hide it from me?"

Her tone was filled with disappointment and disbelief.

For the past three years, she has regarded Chen Ke as her savior and friend, and has always trusted him.

He chose to conceal even something so important.

Chen Ke felt a pang of guilt when he saw the hurt in her eyes.

He opened his mouth, wanting to explain, but didn't know where to begin.

"Arno, I... I've been trying to find a way."

His voice was low and tinged with helplessness.

"The location of that blood clot is very special; even with surgery, I have no idea how it could be successful."

"Instead of taking risks, perhaps we should observe and see... "

His voice grew fainter and fainter until it disappeared into the air.

He dared not look Li Susu in the eye; he knew his explanation was weak and ineffective.

"Perhaps what? Perhaps they'll just watch me die like this?"

Li Susu's tone became sharp, tinged with anger.

"Chen Ke, what exactly do you take me for?"

Her eyes were filled with disappointment and pain.

"Since you knew my situation, why didn't you tell me? You left me feeling like a fool, completely clueless!"

Chen Ke was stung by her words. He looked up at her with a complicated expression.

"Arno, I'm not..."

He tried to explain, but was interrupted.

How did you know?

Chen Ke suddenly changed the subject, his tone carrying a hint of inquiry.

"No one else knows about this except me and a few other doctors."

"Who exactly did you go to see?"

His eyes sharpened.

Looking at him, Li Susu suddenly realized that she didn't understand him at all.

She had always thought Chen Ke genuinely cared about her, but now it seemed he had ulterior motives.

She didn't want to argue with him anymore, so she turned around to open the door.

"Arnold!"

Chen Ke called out to her, his voice tinged with anxiety.

Li Susu ignored him and opened the door directly.

She went into the room, closed the door, and shut Chen Ke out.
