Chapter 401 Nighttime Beachcombing 1

At night by the sea, Chen Feng was only two years older than Chen Hu and three years older than Chen Zhiyao. Now he was a father, while his two younger siblings were still single.

Sure enough, the elders in the family couldn't sit still any longer and started pressuring him to get married.

Phrases like "Men should marry when they are of age and women should marry when they are of age" and "Get married and have children as soon as possible so that we can hold our grandchildren" are constantly heard.

Chen Hu and Chen Zhiyao couldn't take it anymore. After exchanging a glance, they stood up at the same time and ran to the tool shed.

A short while later, the two men each came out carrying a bucket.

Chen Zhiyao ran in front, shouting:

"Oh my, the weather is really nice today. I'll go to the rocky beach and see if there are any crabs or sea snails."

Chen Hu, who was behind him, quickly chimed in, "Yes, yes, Tangtang and I went to the beach. Mom and Dad, you don't need to wait for me."

Before he finished speaking, Chen Hu took off like a greased rag doll. Chen Zhiyao, not to be outdone, followed closely behind.

In the blink of an eye, the brother and sister disappeared from everyone's sight.

Upon arriving at the entrance, Chen Hu straddled the tricycle and waved to Chen Zhiyao behind him:

"Tangtang, come up here quickly!"

Chen Hu is indeed an experienced driver; he drove the tricycle almost at the speed of a minivan.

A few minutes later, the two arrived at the rocky beach in the village.

The moon is big and round tonight, and it's so bright around it that it feels like evening.

Under the moonlight, Chen Zhiyao saw several people turning over stones around her, and a few more uncles fishing a little further ahead.

It's quite lively.

Chen Hu turned on his headlamp and began turning over the stones with great interest, while reminding everyone to keep quiet:

"Tangtang, don't stray too far from me later. If you need anything, just shout for me."

"Okay!"

Turning over rocks was too tiring, so Chen Zhiyao headed straight for the large reef in front, wanting to go over there and see if there were any crabs.

The price of mud crabs is good right now; a pound of crabs is much more expensive than octopus or sea snails.

As Chen Zhiyao approached, she heard a strange sound coming from inside the large rock.

She stopped and looked down towards the source of the sound, only to find a large blue crab with its pincers raised in a crevice. The crab in the crevice was assuming an attacking posture with its two large pincers raised, looking quite imposing.

However, Chen Zhiyao was not afraid of it. She simply reached out with her multi-tool and easily pulled it out of the box.

"Not bad, not bad, it's almost half a pound."

After tying its two large pincers together, Chen Zhiyao smiled and put it into the bucket, then looked at the surface of the reef.

There were two rather large whelks on top, which were now wriggling towards the smaller snails in front of them.

The two snails originally came out to hunt, but they didn't expect that Chen Zhiyao would catch them and their food in the act.

Walking to the other side of the reef, Chen Zhiyao picked up a few more pretty baby snails and a milky white oyster snail.

Just as she stood up, she suddenly heard a splashing sound coming from a small reef behind her.

Knowing there was something good from the sound, Chen Zhiyao immediately picked up the bucket and walked over excitedly.

Upon closer inspection, there was a small puddle beneath a few small stones, with a small, grayish-black tail swaying gently outside the crack in the stone.

Upon seeing the tail, Chen Zhiyao knew that it contained a medium-sized dog shark.

She immediately clamped the still-wagging little tail between her legs and quickly pulled it out of the crevice.

Dog shark +1 dog shark "This guy is quite heavy, at least two pounds."

Chen Zhiyao happily accepted it, her face beaming with a sense of accomplishment.

With her bucket in hand and humming a cheerful tune, she arrived at a small patch of rocks.

Her bright eyes scanned the stones before her quickly and accurately, like a scanner.

Immediately afterwards, she walked briskly toward a rock about the size of a milk crate.

Standing in front of the reef, Chen Zhiyao took a deep breath and then exerted a little force in her arms.

With a dull thud, she easily overturned the heavy boulder, weighing dozens of kilograms, to the ground.

Just as the reef was lifted, a blue crab the size of a fist suddenly scurried out from inside.

Chen Zhiyao, who was prepared, reacted quickly and accurately clamped the crab's back.

Blue Crab +1

This one is a size bigger than the blue crab from before, probably weighing six or seven ounces.

Chen Zhiyao didn't stop, but immediately walked to a rough, uneven rock to her left.

The surface of the reef was covered with small oysters, but now most of these oysters are just shells, the meat inside has long been eaten by snails.

It was evening, the time when the snails came out to forage. There were only a few intact oysters left on the rocks, and several snails about the size of a thumb around them.

"These snails are quite big!" Chen Zhiyao happily harvested another large bunch of snails.

Then, she reached the tongs into the crevice under the rock and pulled out two horseshoe snails covered in bluish-gray moss.

These two horseshoe snails are quite large, weighing about a pound together.

Before Chen Zhiyao could even straighten up and catch her breath, her gaze was drawn to a rock directly in front of her.

Looking from afar, one could see something resembling a tentacle gently swaying in the crystal-clear water beneath the reef.

Driven by intense curiosity and a desire to explore, Chen Zhiyao quickened her pace and eagerly headed towards the reef.

Reaching the rocks, she took a deep breath, bent down, stretched out her hands, gripped the edges of the rocks tightly, and then forcefully lifted them up.

With a loud crash, the stone was flipped over and moved aside.

Just then, a bright red octopus appeared before them.

Its round body was covered with white spots, and its eight slender tentacles moved nimbly, making it look just like an alien creature. As soon as Chen Zhiyao put the big red octopus into the bucket, she saw many mudskippers jumping around in front of her.

Unfortunately, they were all too small, so we had to let them go.

Holding the bucket, she bid farewell to the mudskippers with a kind expression:

"Grow up quickly, I'll come find you to play again later!"

Mudskipper: We're not familiar with each other, I'm outta here (?°?д°?).

Then, Chen Zhiyao lifted a few more stones, and various kinds of small seafood gradually appeared in the bucket under her feet.

As she walked, Chen Zhiyao suddenly quickened her pace and excitedly ran towards a pile of large rocks not far away.
