Chapter 379 Going Beachcombing with Friends (Part 3)

The group arrived at the rocky beach in a grand procession, where they saw strangely shaped rocks everywhere.

Some of these rocks look like pot lids, some like small hills, and some like giant sea turtles.

These oddly shaped reefs have formed many pools of varying sizes.

Sunlight spills into puddles of all sizes, reflecting a dazzling array of colors, making one feel as if they are in a dreamlike world.

The waves gently lapped against the rocks, making a crisp and pleasant sound.

All of this was so novel and wonderful for Li Lin and the other two.

Chen Zhiyao walked briskly and excitedly at the front of the group.

"Come here quickly, I'll teach you how to turn over rocks and find seafood."

As soon as she finished speaking, she bent down and skillfully turned over a rock that was neither too big nor too small.

She patiently explained to everyone how to find seafood hidden under the rocks.

They also taught them how to gently lift the stones so as not to disturb the tiny seafood in the ocean.

The three novice friends listened with great interest, feeling that it was as exciting as opening a blind box.

Li Lin couldn't wait to try it herself, so she directly lifted up a rectangular stone at her feet.

Wow! There's a huge crab here!

Li Lin shouted excitedly, her slender phoenix eyes almost turning into round almond eyes.

Immediately afterwards, a blue crab, slightly larger than a fist, darted forward from where the rock had been.

A group of people immediately gave chase, and they quickly cornered the fleeing crab.

Li Lin was bold; she grabbed the tongs and rushed forward, clumsily trying to use them to grab the big creature.

In the end, she managed to firmly clamp the orchid crab and then tie it up like a rice dumpling.

Others followed suit, bending over and carefully searching for the secrets beneath each stone.

Sometimes there's nothing there; sometimes there are large, menacing crabs, frantically fleeing sea fish, or colorful seashells and conches.

Everyone had more and more seafood in their hands, happily immersed in this novel and interesting experience.

Seeing that everyone was frantically turning over the stones, Chen Zhiyao realized that she didn't need to do anything more to help.

So he picked up the bucket at his feet, ready to find something good to have for dinner.

As she walked, she carefully observed the stones under her feet.

Upon seeing a semi-circular stone that looked like a pot lid, she suddenly bent down and overturned it.

Just as I flipped it halfway over, a small fish, no bigger than my palm, darted out. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a sea bream.

Immediately afterwards, Chen Zhiyao quickly caught up with him.

Before the creature could even return to the embrace of the sea, she ruthlessly scooped it up with her net.

Then she turned back and lifted the stone again.

Below, there are four more whelks with beautiful patterns, each one particularly plump and delicious.

"A family should be together all the time."

As she spoke, Chen Zhiyao picked up all the small handful of whelks and put them into the bucket.

Just then, she suddenly heard an excited voice coming from ahead.

"Haha, there's a huge crab here!" Tang Youyou shouted excitedly, her voice echoing across the entire rocky beach.

At that moment, a particularly beautiful orchid crab appeared before her, waving its two huge and powerful pincers, displaying its majesty to her.

But she wasn't afraid; instead, she couldn't wait to reach out and grab the big crab into the bucket.

However, just as she was about to touch the crab, something unexpected happened:

Suddenly, the big guy opened its mouth, and a powerful stream of water gushed out, shooting straight towards Tang Youyou.

The water jet was incredibly fast, reaching her in the blink of an eye and almost splashing onto her fair and delicate face.

Tang Youyou was startled by the sudden attack and quickly took two steps back, barely dodging the jet of water. Seeing that its enemy had been frightened away, the water-spraying orchid crab immediately tried to flee.

"Quick, grab it!"

Seeing that the big crab in their hands was about to escape, Tang Youyou anxiously directed Yang Yi to catch it.

Yang Yi was quite daring, and went straight to grab it, but unexpectedly his finger was pinched by the crab, and he screamed in pain.

Chen Zhiyao quickly helped by using tongs to grab the crab's shell and subdue it.

Fortunately, there was no serious injury; the crab's pinch wasn't too severe, and Yang Yi's finger only turned slightly red.

After tying the old flower crab up tightly, Chen Zhiyao turned and walked towards a puddle with lots of seaweed.

Parting one of the tender seaweed plants, a plump sea cucumber covered in fleshy spines was quickly revealed underneath.

This guy was having dinner, and when it was served, his mouth was still moving as he ate the tender seaweed.

Li Lin, who was standing nearby, noticed the strangely shaped object in her hand and curiously leaned closer.

"Tangtang, is that a sea cucumber in your hand?"

Chen Zhiyao nodded, and then continued:

"This is a wild sea cucumber. A sea cucumber that weighs three or four ounces can usually sell for between 150 and 200 yuan per pound."

"Didn't they say sea cucumbers cost hundreds or even thousands of yuan per kilogram? How come they're so cheap?"

In her mind, this thing was very expensive, how could it be so cheap? She could hardly believe it.

Chen Zhiyao then explained, "What you're talking about are dried sea cucumbers. Fresh sea cucumbers have more water content, so they're not as expensive."

"Moreover, the fish we catch while beachcombing or going out to sea are usually sold to fishmongers. This is the purchase price, which is lower than the general market price."

Seeing that her friend seemed to understand but not quite, she added:

"Many things, such as fruits and seafood, are expensive to sell outside, but they don't fetch a good price at their place of origin."

"You're right, the middlemen make all the money."

The two sisters were chatting and happily touching sea cucumbers in the puddle when they suddenly heard a scream from ahead.

"Ahhhhh..."

"A snake...a huge snake..."

"It's Yoyo."

The two recognized Tang Youyou's voice, dropped the sea cucumbers they were holding, and rushed over.

As soon as the two sisters arrived, they saw Tang Youyou trembling and hiding behind Yang Yi.

Yang Yi was somewhat frightened and dared not approach, so he had no choice but to grit his teeth and throw stones at the enormous moray eel in front of him. Seeing that it was just a moray eel, Chen Zhiyao quickly went to comfort the two of them:

"It's alright, it's alright, it's just a conger eel, it's not poisonous."

Knowing that it was a conger eel and that it was non-toxic, Yang Yi immediately stood up.

He poured the contents of the bucket onto Tang Youyou, and then carefully scooped the enormous eel into the bucket.

Then, without a care in the world, he laughed and said, "I heard that wild conger eels are delicious. How about we cook one tonight?"

Such a large eel is indeed a bit scary to look at. Chen Zhiyao was originally worried that her two best friends wouldn't dare to eat it.

Unexpectedly, the two were already excitedly discussing whether to braise or steam the guy.
