Chapter 54 They were discovered

"Mom, was someone following you when you came?"

Sun Yunmei shook her head, "No, I just ran into Aunt Ma, the loudmouth. She asked me where I was going, and I said I was just out for a stroll."

She turned around and was startled to see a crowd of people rushing towards them.

"Stop talking, quickly protect the things, don't let those people steal them."

Mingjing panicked as she watched them rush towards her like bandits. They had picked up too much stuff; now they couldn't escape.

The only option was to gather the sacks together and keep the Ming family outside.

A group of people walked up and craned their necks to look inside, some even reaching out to pry open the light.

"Mingliang, let me see what good stuff you have!" Old Qian frantically reached into the plastic bag and excitedly grabbed a handful of abalone the size of his palm when he saw it.

"Stop! Is there no law anymore?!" Mingjing shouted, startling Old Man Qian so much that he dropped the abalone from his hand.

Everyone stood back as if they had done something wrong, and smiled.

"Mingjing, don't be so stingy. We just heard you were beachcombing here and were curious. What good stuff have you found?"

"Your family is allowed to get rich? We can't even watch?"

"Mingjing, you're just a little kid who doesn't know any better. We don't blame you. Just let me see what you have. We don't need yours."

Unable to stand it any longer, Mingliang stood in front of Mingjing and said irritably, "Old man Qian, what we find is none of your business. When are you going to pay back the money your family owes me?"

"Grandpa Qian, your family has been in debt for quite some time now. Are you going to give us the motorcycle or pay us back the money? Otherwise, we're going to sue you in court!"

Old Qian blinked. When did these two siblings become so united?

While the group was talking, someone sneakily reached into the bag to grab a few oysters. But a quick glance from the side made him immediately clutch the snakeskin bag tightly.

"If you dare take our things again, I'll chop off your claws and feed them to my fish!"

"Tch! What's so great about it? It's just a few trinkets, do you think we care about them? You're so stingy, how much are they worth!"

Mingjing saw that the man speaking was Fan Yongqiang, a son-in-law from the village. His family was poor, so he became the son-in-law of a chubby girl in the village who weighed 200 jin.

This man appears honest on the surface, but he's a cunning and scheming man behind the scenes. He's often beaten up by Fatty for his dishonest behavior. The worst part is that he's having an affair with a woman in town and has a son with her. Fatty is lazy and uses her money to support the mother and son.

After finishing his sentence, the man continued, "Can't we pick them up ourselves? Brothers and sisters, we'll pick them up right here, and we'll definitely pick up more than she did!"

Mingjing glanced at the others and sneered, "Go ahead, I'm not stopping you. But as you can see, the water has already risen in this area."

"You can waste your time here if you want, but if something goes wrong, don't blame us."

After Mingjing finished speaking, she grabbed the sack and walked ashore.

Everyone was so captivated by the contents of the sack that they began searching the beach as if possessed, with those who didn't have tools going back to get them.

"Mingliang, let's go!" Sun Yunmei waved and, pulling the sack, carried Mingliang ashore together.

"The waves are huge, you should go back early!" Sun Yunmei kindly reminded them, but no one paid any attention.

Old Song carried the bag of things back home with difficulty, feeling very pleased with himself.

"Dad, go back and bring the flatbed cart over. There's too much stuff; we can't take it all with us."

"Mom, take the kettle and basket back with you and put the water away at home. We'll go back and pick up the goods."

"Okay, okay."

Sun Yunmei and Ming Dahai were clearly arranged, while Mingjing and Mingliang stayed behind to watch over things.

Before long, the news that there was something on the beach had spread throughout the entire island, and many people brought their families and tools to the beach.

The two sat by the roadside enjoying the sea breeze, and every passerby would glance at them with envy before confidently heading off.

Occasionally, people would share good news about finding seashells, but no one had encountered anything large.

Ming Dahai pulled over a flatbed cart, loaded the things onto the cart, and headed home.

Before leaving, Mingjing glanced at the sea. A group of people were gathered together, looking quite shocked as they seemed to have found something.

Mingjing couldn't do anything about it and followed the flatbed truck home.

When she got home, she changed her clothes and opened the fishing tackle shop. Her luck was still very high today; clearly, her lucky charm was still working.

What will happen to the remaining good luck?

The wind was getting weaker and the rain had almost stopped. The Ming family put their things next to the well and prepared to sort through them.

"Mom and Dad, I've boiled the water. Hurry up and take a bath, or you'll catch a cold," Mingyue said as she filled the bathtub with hot water in the kitchen.

"I understand," Ming Dahai said with a smile, looking at his youngest daughter.

My daughter is the most considerate.

The family took turns taking hot showers and changing clothes before they could sit down and choose what they wanted.

Mingjing had barely sat down when Aunt Ma rushed over to report the news, standing at the door and saying sarcastically, "Wow, you've picked up so many good things!"

"It has to be Mingjing. Even Song Laosan benefited from it. He picked up a whole basin of conch and sea urchins. He probably made at least a thousand yuan."

"Mingjing, next time you have something good, remember to invite us. Don't just keep it all to yourself. It's no fun. We're all neighbors. The village is starting to have complaints about you."

Mingjing picked up a snail and snorted coldly, "Aunt Ma, if you found that beach, would you still call us? You'd probably have forgotten who we are by now."

"If you stuff an abalone in your crotch, the eldest brother can't even talk about the second one."

“You…” Widow Ma glared at him, angrily turned and left.

Only after Widow Ma had gone far away did the Ming family dare to laugh out loud.

"That old man picked up so many?" Mingliang found it unbelievable.

Mingjing gave him a reproachful look, "Who told you to throw away the small and broken ones? Even if you couldn't sell them for your own consumption, they just benefited others."

“We can’t eat that much ourselves. We’ll grab the good stuff in large quantities. Who wants that junk?”

Sun Yunmei offered a few words of explanation on Mingliang's behalf.

Upon hearing this, Mingjing remained silent, only feeling that Sun Yunmei still favored her son.

"Sister, this abalone is so big! Is it possible that it has pearls?" Mingyue asked excitedly as she picked up an abalone that weighed more than a pound.

The abalone has a black shell, so it's obviously a wild abalone. It's rare to see such a large, clear abalone.

Ming Dahai took it and looked at it, his eyes gleaming. "Perhaps, wild abalone pearls are valuable, but they are not common. There might be some here."

"Dad, I'm coming to see."

Mingjing recalled the oyster pearls from last time, and her confidence soared.

"Take it and try it."

Ming Dahai agreed so readily that Ming Jing was stunned; she had thought she would be stopped.

"Abalone is not unavailable, but it would be bad if some abalone pearls were sold to someone else for free."

The fishing tackle shop has a high luck stat, and Mingjing thinks it should be able to get abalone pearls, which would be a real fortune.

Mingjing used a razor blade to cut the abalone meat out of its shell, examined it carefully, and then frowned.

No abalone?

Strange, is good luck still on the beach?
