Chapter 28 The Smell of Flattery

She took pliers, turned the rock over, and found a snail clinging tightly to the side of the rock.

“A snail.” Mingjing bent down, picked up the snail, and threw it into the bucket.

Oncomelania snails are very common on the beach. They love to attach themselves to rocks and have a very strong suction. Mingjing pulled one out like pulling a radish.

After collecting everything, the fat man couldn't help but exclaim in admiration to the people next to him.

"Mingjing has found something."

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone's eyes turned to him.

"What is that? Let me see?"

"A lobster?"

Where is it?

A group of people stretched their heads out like octopuses, and Mingjing felt like a lump of bait surrounded by a bunch of fathead fish.

"It's just some snails. There should be plenty here. You can dig through the rocks and look for them."

There's very little meat in the snails, so Mingjing isn't really keen on picking them up. Eating snails is mostly just for the feeling; they're not worth much when sold.

When the group heard that there was something to sell in this area, they gathered around and carefully pried open the stones.

Bai Jiwen craned his neck, rolled up his sleeves, and stepped forward, saying, "Let me see if there are any over here."

He threw down the wooden bucket, bent over, and started digging at the rocks.

"Godfather, be careful, these stones can hurt your hands. Turn them over gently."

The one who provided the mirror reminded Bai Jiwen to turn over the stones.

"Okay, I understand."

When he turned over the stone, there were no snails. Bai Jiwen was not discouraged and turned over several more.

"Where are the snails?" the fat man muttered.

Mingjing walked over and continued searching for stones. She came across a super large stone and had a feeling that she would find something good.

"Come on, let's try to turn this stone over."

With everyone working together, gripping the edge of the stone with both hands, gritting their teeth and gathering their strength to flip it over, shouting, "One, two, three!"

The stone was turned over, and sure enough, the surface was covered with a bunch of snails, with a small puddle underneath.

Based on the rule that goods are bound to be found in puddles, Mingjing used tongs to swish the goods through the water.

Um?

Her clips seemed to have hit something hard.

"It looks like something," Mingjing said, puzzled.

Upon hearing that there was something, Bai Jiwen quickly turned his head. "What is it?"

"It looks like a crab."

"Let me touch it," Bai Jiwen said, rolling up his sleeves as he prepared to touch it.

The Mirror Organization said, "No, what if there are sea serpents here?"

Sea snakes are more venomous than land snakes; some look like moray eels and are extremely poisonous, with antivenom being hard to find.

"I'll do it."

Mingjing remembered her fishing gloves and decided to try them on. Even with the gloves on, she was still incredibly nervous.

She's a marine biologist, so naturally she's been attacked by crabs and biting fish; it would be a lie to say she's not afraid.

Taking a deep breath, Mingjing closed her eyes and dipped her fingers into the water. Soon she encountered a large, hard pincer. Just as she was about to pick it up, the pincer clamped onto her glove.

Immediately, Mingjing cried out and pulled her hand back.

"Oh my god!"

"What is that?"

Mingjing looked at her gloves and saw that they were intact, and relaxed.

"It's a shrimp, and it's quite big."

She just touched those pincers; they're probably from a spruce dragon.

"Ah Liang, you're fat, you're not afraid of getting pinched, you come here," Bai Jiwen directed his men.

Mingjing shook her head. She was protected by the Sea Goddess, so how could she run away over such a small matter? She continued to squat down and pulled her gloves up to her forearms.

Fortunately, the gloves are stretchable, otherwise she would have turned into Yang Guo today.

Her fingers darted in again, and the thick shrimp claws attacked once more, clamping firmly onto Mingjing's glove. She felt that without the glove, her fingers would have been severed at any moment.

When the gloves get wet, the outer skin becomes sharp, allowing Mingjing to trace the lobster's body along its tentacles.

"Be careful, does it hurt?"

"How big is the lobster? If it's not big enough, drain the water."

Mingjing gritted her teeth, automatically blocking out the sounds around her.

The next second, she gathered her strength and pressed down on the lobster, gripping its body with both hands, and pulled a palm-sized lobster out of the puddle—it was a pine lobster.

"It's so big, the shrimp paste smells amazing!" the fat man licked his lips.

"Mingjing, you're amazing!"

"Mingjing, teach me how to catch big-time thieves?"

The group became more and more excited as they talked, and Mingjing also found it quite novel, as this was her first time catching a cypress dragon on the shore.

Mingjing placed the lobster in Bai Jiwen's large bucket and gave him instructions.

"Sis, I'm here!"

Mingyue ran over quickly with a bucket in her hand. She was excited when she saw the octopus. "Wow, it's so big! Uncle Zhao had one just this big too. It'll be perfect for finding her a mate."

The skinny guy chuckled, "What if they're a pair of males? That would be a mess!"

Everyone burst into laughter.

"Hurry up and find it, stop joking around," Bai Jiwen urged.

"Let's have a competition to see who can find the most seafood. The loser has to treat everyone to dinner!" Mingyue suggested.

"Alright! You guys hurry up and find them, the winner gets a raise," Bai Jiwen instructed.

Mingjing's back ached from bending over, so she sat down on a rock to rest. Bored, she opened the system and took a look.

The points remained unchanged, but the fishing tackle shop added several new products: "strength pills," "beauty pills," and "slimming pills," but they were all very expensive.

You still need to earn points.

Mingjing sighed, stood up, straightened her back, and continued searching.

"Mingjing, come and see what this is!" Bai Jiwen waved to Mingjing from a distance.

Mingjing quickly stepped forward and saw a small tentacle peeking out from under a rock. When the light shone on it, it quickly retreated back into the cave.

"It should still be a lobster."

Bai Jiwen proudly raised his chin, "Yeah, he was in the water just now, and when I shone a light on him, he shrank back."

"Let me see."

Mingjing ran the pliers through the water to make sure there was nothing else inside, then handed the gloves to Bai Jiwen.

"Godfather, you found it, so you can catch it. Be slow, lobsters lose their claws and become worthless."

"Boss, you're amazing!"

The fat man immediately gathered his bodyguards to line up and applaud Bai Jiwen.

"Oh, it's nothing, it's nothing," Bai Jiwen said proudly.

Mingjing rolled her eyes at their fawning manner and asked, "Can't you smell anything?"

"What does it taste like?" the fat man asked, puzzled.

"It smells like flattery."

"Flattery? Our boss didn't bring his horse from Hong Kong, so where would we get a horse? Who farted? Hey, who farted?"

The fat man scratched his head, turned around, and questioned loudly.

Mingyue laughed so hard she couldn't straighten up, her shoulders shaking.

"Ah Liang!" Bai Jiwen reminded him sheepishly.

He enjoys being praised, but it doesn't cloud his judgment or make him arrogant; he simply likes receiving compliments.

"What are you laughing at?" Ah Liang asked, his mind blank, simply looking at Bai Jiwen.

"Everyone, get to work! The villagers are coming," Mingjing said with a helpless smile, pointing to the dense cluster of lights in the distance.

"There are so many, let's hurry and find them before someone steals them."

Ah Liang felt a sense of crisis.

Bai Jiwen put on gloves, reached into the puddle and dug. The lobster was hiding in its hole. He bent over, stuck out his butt, gritted his teeth, grabbed the lobster's leg, and pulled it out with all his might.

A lobster with pincers as thick as a thumb was caught and thrown into the bucket.

The group continued walking along the rocks. Mingjing was looking down when she suddenly saw a glass jar in the water ahead, with a lobster curled up inside.

She picked up the jar, and the lobster quickly scurried into the water.

"It got away! Chase it!" Bai Jiwen shouted, swinging his arms as he chased after the lobster.

Mingjing finds it hard to believe that the man on the beach who looks like a monkey from Mount Emei is a Hong Kong tycoon.

It's true that a man is a boy until he dies.
