Lin Hu glanced at Duan Linzhou and couldn't help but chuckle to himself.
"I like older men," Lin Hu said, breaking free from their grasp and taking Duan Linzhou's hand.
Xu Yiling was shocked to see Lin Hu and the other person's hands clasped tightly together.
Lin Hu knew, and he believed it.
The fat man was still lost in thought.
"We're almost at the rest stop at the amusement park, time to go home."
Amusement parks usually stay open until 11 or 12 at night, but during the Chinese New Year, they close earlier.
Lin Hu pulled the people home, with Fatty and Xu Yiling following behind. They walked together toward the amusement park entrance, and their conversation occasionally reached Lin Hu's ears.
Lin Hu ignored him, parted ways with the fat man at the bus stop, and the three of them took a taxi back.
Xu Yiling sat in the front row and wanted to turn around several times to ask Lin Hu if he really wanted to bring a strange man back to meet his mother.
The words swirled in his mouth, but he couldn't bring himself to say them.
The driver finally stopped asking if I was itchy.
The three stood at the door of Lin Hu's house, with Xu Yiling following behind, hoping to stop Lin Hu from being beaten.
"You should go back right away." Lin Hu pushed the person towards his own home.
"That won't do, what if..." Xu Yiling didn't finish his sentence, implying that the other party understood.
"What are you all whispering about at the door?" Lin Jingyue asked, opening the door from the inside.
When she saw Duan Linzhou again, she was stunned for a moment. Her gaze shifted downwards and she saw Lin Hu and the other person's tightly clasped hands. She froze, as if her mind had crashed.
"Mom, this is my husband. I brought him here for you to see." Lin Hu raised her hand and introduced him to Duan Linzhou in a generous manner.
Xu Yiling and Lin Jingyue looked at the two of them with the same shock. Duan Linzhou was also somewhat surprised, not expecting Lin Hu to be so direct.
"Hello, Auntie, my name is Duan Linzhou." Duan Linzhou quickly snapped out of his daze and greeted her politely.
After a long while, Lin Jingyue finally found her voice, "Come in first, it's cold outside."
Lin Jingyue stepped aside to make room for him to enter, and then said to Xu Yiling, "Xiaoling, it's late, you should go home and rest too."
It was only a little before 8 o'clock, but Xu Yiling knew that Lin Jingyue was trying to get him to leave, not wanting anyone to see what was going on at home.
"Okay, Aunt Lin, I'll head back now," Xu Yiling said, glancing at Lin Hu again. "I'm going back."
Lin Hu nodded, and after watching Xu Yiling open the door and go inside, he and Duan Linzhou also went into his own home.
Lin Jingyue poured Duan Linzhou a glass of water, and Lin Hu was called back to his room.
He opened the door a crack, wanting to see what his mother and Duan Linzhou were going to talk about.
The room was quite far away, separated by a corridor, and I could only vaguely hear some conversations, mostly when his name was mentioned.
Lin Hu ran out of the room and eavesdropped by taking advantage of the blind spot at the corner of the corridor.
Duan Linzhou: "I will meet him again, and I will never leave him."
Lin Hu had just come out and didn't quite hear what was said before, but he did hear Duan Linzhou say that he wouldn't leave him.
He smiled, never expecting Duan Linzhou to say such mushy things in front of his mother.
After a long while, Lin Jingyue's gentle voice came: "I can't interfere in the affairs of young people, but you should remember what you said today."
Duan Linzhou smiled and nodded in agreement, "Yes, I will."
Lin Jingyue glanced at where Lin Hu was standing, smiled without saying a word, and got up from the sofa: "Alright, I agree."
The sound was a bit louder, but Lin Hu could still hear it clearly.
He also understood that his mother knew he was hiding there eavesdropping.
Lin Hu couldn't hide any longer, so he peeked out from the corner, "Mom..."
Feeling a little awkward, Lin Hu awkwardly sat down next to Lin Jingyue, glancing at Duan Linzhou from time to time, and then at Lin Jingyue again.
"Here you go." Lin Jingyue took a jade Guanyin pendant from her neck and handed it to Lin Hu.
"Huh? Didn't Grandma give this to you? Why are you giving it to me?" Lin Hu asked, puzzled, without reaching out to take it.
“Your grandmother originally asked me to give this to my future daughter-in-law,” Lin Jingyue said, glancing at Duan Linzhou.
"But I don't think you could be the one up there."
A blunt truth caused both protagonists to blush.
Based on Lin Hu's understanding of Lin Jingyue, she wasn't a rigid person, but he didn't expect her to be so open all of a sudden, and he was still a little uncomfortable accepting it.
"There's still some food warming in the kitchen. If you're hungry, go eat. I'm going back to my room now," Lin Jingyue said, getting up to go back to her room.
Seeing that Lin Jingyue's door was closed, Lin Hu got up and sat down next to Duan Linzhou, asking him what he had said to Lin Jingyue.
"It's a secret," Duan Linzhou said mysteriously, getting up to go to the kitchen to see what food was available.
How did you know where my kitchen is?
Lin Hu chased after him, wanting to find out the secret.
That evening, after dinner, Duan Linzhou and Lin Hu slept in the same room. Before Lin Hu fell asleep, she could still hear Duan Linzhou telling stories in her ear.
When Lin Hu opened his eyes again, the white light around him stung his eyes.
He raised his hand to shield his eyes, and it took him a while to adjust.
What met my eyes was a vast expanse of white, stretching to the horizon.
"Beep—beep—beep—"
An electronic voice entered Lin Hu's ears, and he subconsciously looked towards the source of the sound.
Not far behind him, a large bed appeared in the previously empty space.
The large bed is surrounded by various modern medical instruments; the beeping sound just now was from the electrocardiogram machine.
This proved that the person in the bed still had a heartbeat, but to Lin Hu's shock, the person lying in the bed was actually Duan Linzhou.
Lin Hu wanted to go closer to check, but suddenly felt a suction force behind him pulling him backward.
