Inside the door, the area where the pomegranate had just fallen was now a small ruin. The stairs had collapsed, but the zombies inside were still lunging forward, slowly piling up into heaps of flesh. Some zombies were still waving their claws, trying to climb up.
The three could only desperately resist with their bodies until the stairs were completely filled with zombies and they could no longer hear any noise. Only then did they stop and resume their zombie-like state, wandering around the building.
Zombies mainly rely on hearing and smell to identify living people, so they only relaxed after it quieted down inside and no zombies tried to squeeze in.
But what followed was a frigid temperature, and since they were standing on the roof, the cold wind blew directly into them.
Even though Lin Hu had a warm coat and a base layer, he still shivered a few times from the wind. He quickly grabbed a bowl of ginger soup from the warehouse and gulped it down.
However, Lin Hu could not ignore the two pairs of eyes around him.
Lin Hu had no choice but to take out two more bowls and give them to the two men as payment for their cooperation. Although he had mostly saved them, Lin Hu could have simply flown away and ignored them.
But he has a mission to complete. Since he wants to help the main characters develop, he needs to recruit more useful people, and of course, he also needs to recruit more people himself.
Therefore, now anyone he meets is someone he is investigating.
If the person in front of him with the metal superpower is of good character, he could be the one to choose.
The other one should be a strength-based ability. Judging from the force he used to push the door open, if he hadn't held back, the door might have been dented.
However, Lin Hu didn't consider this person; he looked a bit shifty-eyed, which made Lin Hu very uncomfortable.
"Thank you." After finishing his drink, the bespectacled man returned the bowl to Lin Hu and then took out a level-one crystal core from his pocket and gave it to Lin Hu.
"I'm only level one," the bespectacled man whispered again, partly out of embarrassment and partly out of fear of attracting zombies with his loud voice.
The tall, thin guy next to him was a little annoyed by the bespectacled man's actions. He had given the crystal core to the other man, so shouldn't he also give one to the other man?
However, he didn't show it on his face. When he finished drinking and returned the bowl to Lin Hu, he looked apologetic and embarrassed.
"Sorry, young man, I didn't bring the crystal core with me. I'll give it to you when we get back."
The person said they would give it to him when they got back, but didn't mention adding him as a friend, so it's unclear how they were going to do it.
"No need, it's nothing." Lin Hu said this to the tall man, but accepted the crystal core from the bespectacled man.
"Young man, you're so loyal. In this post-apocalyptic world, I've seen too much of the coldness and warmth of human nature. There aren't many people like you left."
As the man spoke, he reached out to pat Lin Hu on the shoulder, but Lin Hu pretended to look around and dodged him.
"Let's talk about these things later. First, let's think about how to get out of our current predicament."
"Do you still have that red thing you just threw out?" the bespectacled man asked Lin Hu. Lin Hu had moved too fast to see what it was; he only saw a red ball fly out and then explode.
"This one?" Lin Hu smiled innocently, tossing the pomegranate in the air and catching it steadily.
"What is this?" the bespectacled man asked.
"This is called a bomb pomegranate, and we're the only ones who have it right now," Lin Hu said, stuffing the pomegranate into his pocket, preventing the tall guy who wanted to touch it from getting his hands on it.
"Us? There are other people besides you?" the bespectacled man asked again.
Lin Hu thought to himself, "Smart, able to grasp the key points, unlike this idiot next to me, whose greed is written all over his face, and he doesn't even try to hide it."
“Yes, my friend and I both work for Boss Zhou. The ginger soup we bought at the market was ordered by Boss Zhou,” Lin Hu said with a smile.
"So, are you selling these pomegranates?" The bespectacled man, now recovered, stood up and asked Lin Hu.
Since the other party did not show any intention of forcibly taking it, Lin Hu responded politely.
“There aren’t many of these, and our boss didn’t say he wanted to sell them. But I think you look good, so I’ll ask around for you.” Lin Hu said, intending to open the system interface, but was annoyed by the tall man standing behind him.
Is this person trying to steal his pomegranates? Standing so close.
"Sir, could you keep a little distance from me? I don't really like getting too close to people," Lin Hu said with a polite smile, mainly because the other person smelled terrible.
The tall man scratched his head sheepishly and took a step to the side.
Lin Hu moved aside slightly to prevent the other person from spying on his screen. He then opened his friends list, intending to ask Duan Linzhou for the other person's location to see how far away they were and find a suitable place to meet. However, he saw several unread messages, from Duan Linzhou, Cheng Yuan, and others.
[Duan Linzhou: Okay, meet at 367, 156.]
[Cheng Yuan: Boss, are you alright over there? I've arranged to meet Miaomiao and Xiyuan at 111, 756. Do you want to come over?]
[Cheng Miaomiao: Brother Lin, my brother and I are going to meet at 111, 756. Do you want to come with us?]
[Liu Xu: Brother Lin, I'm going to find Xiao Xiao now. After I find her, we'll come find you together.]
[Sun Xiaoxiao: Brother Lin, I'll go meet up with Liu Xu first, then I'll come find you later.]
[Sun Hu: Little Boss, I...]
...
Cheng Yuan used to call Lin Ge (Brother Lin), but after Lin Hu reminded him of their age difference, Cheng Yuan unilaterally accepted the title of "Boss Lin." Everyone else who called him Lin Ge was still a student and younger than him.
After refusing all the offers, Lin Hu finally replied to Duan Linzhou that he had received the message, then pretended to still be in a negotiation. In reality, unbeknownst to the other two, Lin Hu was watching what people with free time in the chat area were talking about.
[Jiang xx: Is anyone in the nursing home at 1391, 25? Looking for a team.]
