“Okay, Aunt Jiang.” The group responded in unison.
When they were halfway through packing, Lin Hu got up, set up three braziers, and took out three large stainless steel soup pots that he had just bought from the supermarket.
Add water and equal amounts of ginger slices to each pot. By the time they were almost finished wrapping the fillings, the water had boiled. They then put the cabbage and pork filling, the corn and pork filling, and the pure pork filling into three separate pots. The group cleaned up the area and sat down to chat while waiting for their food.
"We won't separate tomorrow; we'll all head south together."
As Wang Fuqing spoke, he took out a map and spread it out on the table. The south side of the map indicated the edge of the city. The surrounding area consisted of factories, mostly producing food.
"Xiao Fu, where did you get the map?" Jiang Qiaomei asked in surprise, which was also what everyone else wanted to ask.
“Today, Mofei and I were on our way to the grain store when I saw an advertisement for it at the bus stop, so I picked it up. But it only showed the southern corner.” Wang Fuqing said, pointing to where they were now and then to several factories on the edge of the city.
"The distance isn't far, but it would take us five or six hours to walk there. We might also encounter zombies or mutated beasts along the way," Wen Bozhi said, looking at the route on the map.
"So, should we look around tomorrow to see if there are any usable cars?" Wen Mofei asked.
“No, there aren’t many people around here, so there aren’t many cars either. But when the zombies attacked people, many vehicles were still on the road, and many drivers abandoned their cars and fled, so the roads must have been blocked.” Wen Bozhi rejected Wen Mofei’s suggestion.
"Then let's go there early tomorrow. We don't know when we'll be teleported back tomorrow." Duan Bohai said, turning his head to look reluctantly at Jiang Qiaomei beside him.
Jiang Qiaomei also sensed the emotions of the person next to her and reached out to cover the back of their hand to comfort them.
The others didn't see the pink bubbles around the two; they were all discussing which hiking route to take tomorrow, as they were less likely to encounter zombies.
Lin Hu was selling dumplings in the market, while occasionally listening to the conversation among the others.
While thinking about other things, they realized that the system must have gone easy on them, as the cities they were transported to only had level one or two zombies and mutated beasts.
While everyone still had crystal cores, Lin Hu started selling dumplings for 30 level-one crystal cores per bowl. Each bowl contained 15 dumplings and came with ginger soup.
Chat area —
[Jiang XX: Oh my god! Someone's buying ginger soup dumplings to keep warm and fill you up, but quantities are limited, hurry and buy some!]
[?: I bought some too, and I'm eating them now. They taste really good. Not only do they keep you warm for 5 hours, but they also give you three times the energy for those 5 hours.]
[Zhu X: Holy crap, is this for real? I need to hurry and grab a bowl.]
[Zhao xx: It's so expensive! Is the seller here? Can you lower the price a bit?]
[Jiang xx: What are you thinking, bro? They're not asking for an exorbitant price. They're already being generous with 50 level-one crystal cores, and you want a discount?]
[?? : Yeah, level one and two zombies are so easy to kill outside now, are you not trying hard enough?]
[Zhao xx: I was just saying it casually, do you have to make such a big deal out of it? You're probably a shill for the seller.]
[Chen X: @Zhao xx If it weren't for the lack of a camera function, I would have thrown a picture of my dumplings in your face right now.]
...
It was almost 10 o'clock when everyone finished their plans. Since they had no phones and no other entertainment, they wanted to rest early.
They were all planning to find a big table to sleep on, but Lin Hu, the treasure trove, pulled out four beds that he had gotten for free at the supermarket entrance.
These four beds were on display at the supermarket entrance, already covered with sheets and duvet covers, making them very soft and cozy. But Lin Hu complained that they had been sitting outside for two weeks without being cleaned, and were sure to be covered in dust.
I simply asked everyone to change their bed sheets and duvet covers, which I bought from the supermarket. The supermarket wasn't displaying them like that to sell beds, but rather four-piece bedding sets.
Considering that Jiang Qiaomei is a woman, a bed was moved to the corner for Jiang Qiaomei and Duan Bohai.
The group now genuinely felt like they were on vacation, even though their lives before the apocalypse were worlds apart from this. Having endured over ten days of the apocalypse, experiencing hunger and the stench of the world, and after today's events—except for the time spent searching for supplies—their current life was something they couldn't have imagined ten days ago.
The five of them positioned themselves near the floor-to-ceiling windows, making it easier to keep an eye on their surroundings. Of course, two of the five young men had to take turns on watch. Ultimately, Duan Linzhou and Wen Bozhi were chosen.
Duan Linzhou possesses three types of superpowers: wind, fire, and mental. Mental ability users have stronger perception than other ability users, making him the best choice for night watch. However, he shouldn't be on watch the entire night to avoid him being in poor condition the next day, so Wen Bozhi volunteered to take the second half of the night watch.
The group slept soundly, thanks to the constant temperature from the nightlights and the beds and blankets they had, except for Lin Hu.
Lin Hu had his eyes closed, but his mind was clear. He suspected that he might be having trouble sleeping in a new bed.
Although this bed is also very soft, I still miss my own bed, even though these beds are his now.
Lin Hu's mind wandered. He worried about the crops on the raft that no one would harvest, whether the goat milk he had saved for the puppy would be drunk up in one go, and he also thought about his wheat seeds...
Yes, his wheat seeds!
Lin Hu buried his head in the blanket and opened the 1097 system interface. Although others could not see the 1097 light screen, he was still afraid that others would see his fingers tapping in the air and think he was crazy.
